Chapter 546 Brother Gu and the others are coming back.

When Bonnie woke up, Gu Ye was still asleep. He had gone to visit troops during the day and then drove for more than an hour to get back in the evening. He was exhausted.

This is a 45-year-old man; his physical strength will gradually decline. In the blink of an eye, the two have been married for twenty years.

Bonnie was nineteen when she got married; now she's forty.

Gu Ye is off today. There are frozen dumplings at home, so he can cook some later.

Bonnie got up and washed up, letting her brother get a good night's sleep.

During the Chinese New Year, the children were not at home. The couple spent the first day of the Lunar New Year visiting relatives and friends, and it wasn't until the third day that things finally came to a close.

Bonnie curled up on the sofa, not wanting to move.

"People need to move around more. I used to go up mountains and down to the sea and never felt tired. Now, I stay at home every day and I always feel like I have no energy."

"Right? From now on, we'll exercise together every morning when you get up. Otherwise, when I retire, will we still have the energy to travel all over the mountains and rivers of our country?"

Gu Ye seized every opportunity to encourage Bonnie to exercise more. After all, she was getting older, and if she didn't exercise, her body would become weaker and weaker.

However, Gu Ye didn't dare to bring up the issue of age directly. He discovered that women were particularly concerned about age, and his wife Bao Ni was no exception.

"Okay, let's start after the kids come back. I need to get ready."

"What preparations are needed? Just go out in the morning, right?"

"Don't I need to prepare myself mentally? I haven't exercised for so long, my body is stiff, I need to give myself some time to mentally prepare."

Bonnie now understands the struggles of those who repeatedly resolve to lose weight but keep putting it off. They say they want to exercise, their brains agree, but their legs say they're not ready yet!

"You're really something. By the time you're ready, there's no time. Starting tomorrow, let's go out for a workout together, and then have breakfast."

"Okay, I'll listen to you, otherwise I'm afraid I'll back down again."

Bonnie also lacks confidence in herself. If Lao Jiang were to dream of her becoming like this, he would wake up in anger.

Sometimes, when she thinks about those days when Lao Jiang was pushing her, it feels like a dream. It seems like it happened, but it also seems like it didn't. She really doesn't know if the memories in her mind are real or just her imagination.

The next day, Gu Ye pulled Bonnie out of bed, and after washing up, she went out to exercise.

There weren't many people exercising on the training field; most were military officers and some children, but no women. Bonnie was the first one there.

"Commander Gu, taking your wife for a walk? You two have such a good relationship!"

"Do you even need to tell me? If a couple's relationship isn't good, what kind of couple would they be?"

Gu Ye's words were a bit smug; in the compound, there were many couples whose relationships were not harmonious.

"You have such a big mouth! We know you and your husband have a good relationship, but don't be so smug. Be careful that people don't get envious and jealous, or even hate you. You should keep a low profile. It's only been a year since the New Year, and your commendation has already come through. Your wife is capable, and your child is doing well in school. Are you trying to make everyone else's life miserable?"

The speaker was Gu Ye's partner. The two had worked together for a long time, so they spoke quite casually.

“I’m talking to you two. If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t even bother talking to them. Whether it’s good or bad, we got it through our own hard work. Instead of being envious and jealous, you should spend more time on your work and family.”

"You're right. There are some people in our unit who aren't focused on the right things. Sigh, they chose this path, so they'll have to learn from it! Alright, I won't keep you and your sister-in-law any longer, I'll run a few more laps."

Gu Ye waved and went to find his wife.

"How are you doing? Can you still hold on?"

"Not bad, having a foundation is a good thing. Whatever Political Commissar Huang said to you, I saw you smiling so much your eyes disappeared."

"I want to keep a low profile so as not to arouse envy and jealousy from others."

Gu Ye was delighted just thinking about it. With a harmonious family and a successful career, how could he not be happy?

"You got promoted?"

"Honey, for me, you and the kids are the most important things. They envy our good relationship as a couple, and our kids' good grades and promising future. As for promotions, those are not important."

"You really got promoted?"

Bonnie was quite excited. Her brother Ye's hard work hadn't been overlooked. Wasn't that something to be happy about?

"It's not a promotion, my position hasn't changed, it's just that my military rank has been raised a little, and my salary has increased a bit."

"My brother Ye is the best. I just bought a house recently and spent almost all of my savings."

Bonnie's praise made Gu Ye even happier; his wife said he was the best!

"Aren't all the shops you bought rented out? Our monthly rent is more than my salary, isn't it?"

"That's right, there are many more, and there will be even more in the future."

Bonnie felt energized again when she thought about it. She needed to train hard; better days were ahead.

The couple chatted and laughed while exercising for half an hour, then went to have breakfast together. Gu Ye went to work, and Bao Ni tidied up the house.

The phone rang, and Bonnie picked up the receiver. Liu Jiu's voice came through.

"Mom, we've bought the train tickets. They're for the sixth day of the Lunar New Year. Auntie is going back with us, so you don't need to worry."

"Did your aunt come back with you?"

Bonnie didn't know what had happened, nor had she heard anything about the Shen family elders.

"My uncle is being transferred back to Beijing after the New Year, so my aunt went back ahead of time to make preparations. I'll tell you the details when we get back; my aunt just found out about it herself."

"Okay, I understand. Take care of yourselves. It's a bit chaotic with lots of people on the bus."

"Okay, goodbye Mom."

Bonnie put down the microphone and did some mental calculations. Brother Gu and the others had been in the south for five or six years, which was quite a long time.
