Chapter 548 The Women's Gathering

The Lunar New Year has just passed, and there are still a few days before school starts, so the children can relax and get together with their friends.

Sister-in-law Gu is back, and she can't just sit idle. She goes to see her parents, visit relatives, and meet with friends.

Bonnie had nothing to do, and since Zhao Yuan had just returned, she organized a get-together for everyone.

"Baoni, Sister-in-law Wei Hong, over here."

At the restaurant where they had arranged to meet, Zhao Yuan waved excitedly.

"Zhao Yuan, what delicious food have you eaten? You've gotten so chubby!"

"Sister-in-law Wei Hong, what can I eat? I haven't lost weight since giving birth to my third child."

Zhao Yuan led the two into the restaurant, where Wu Fang and Dai Jing were already in the private room.

"Sister-in-law Wei Hong, Bao Ni, come in and sit down."

Wu Fang greeted them, while Dai Jing was relatively quiet. She and Li Hongjun got married the latest, and she wasn't very familiar with Zhao Yuan, but she interacted more with Bao Ni and the others.

"It's rare to see us women get together as a group, without men or children."

"Who can argue with that? We've known each other for over twenty years, and this is the first time we women have gotten together by ourselves."

Zhao Yuan echoed Bao Ni's words, as she felt the most deeply about them.

Because of her, Bai Chaoyang had to leave Beijing and seek refuge on an island. Back then, she was very grateful to Bao Ni; without her help, she didn't know if she could have adapted to life on the island.

After listening to Bonnie and Zhao Yuan's words, the others were also quite moved. These women are busy with work, busy with their husbands and children, never having a moment to spare. They might only manage to get together like this once or twice a year.

"I can't say anymore, it's all tears! Zhao Yuan, are you not leaving after you come back this time?"

Wu Fang and the others had only been back for a few years, and they hadn't seen Zhao Yuan for many years either.

"I'm not leaving. Bai Chaoyang got injured and was transferred to civilian work, so I'm being transferred back with him."

Zhao Yuan and her friends went to another city with her parents, who were both researchers and had inherited some wealth. During those ten years, her parents were protected and allowed to conduct research. Later, when the environment improved, she and Bai Chaoyang were also transferred there.

"Are you injured? Is it serious?"

Bonnie can't stand hearing about anyone getting hurt right now; it instantly reminds her of her husband, Gu Ye.

"I'm fine now, but I can't handle the high-intensity training in the military anymore."

Zhao Yuan also felt sorry for her husband; it was a crucial moment for his promotion, and unexpectedly, he got injured. At the same time, she was also thankful that Bai Chaoyang had survived. Compared to being alive, the promotion didn't seem so important.

"It's better that he's safe and sound. Where did he transfer to after his military service?"

"The police station in Beijing, those who came from the military, all like to go to the police station and like to wear uniforms, even if they're not the same ones they used to wear."

Zhao Yuan felt that being a police officer was quite dangerous, but Bai Chaoyang liked it. He said that after so many years in the army, he didn't like or adapt to any other job.

"By the way, what about Bai Song and Bai Yang? I haven't seen them for many years. If I ran into them on the street, I might not even recognize them."

Bonnie recalled that on the island, Liu Jiu always liked to call Bai Yang "Yang Shu Mei Mei" (Poplar Sister), and no matter how she tried to correct him, he couldn't change it.

"Bai Song is already working, and Bai Yang will take the college entrance exam in July."

Zhao Yuan has three children. The youngest is several years younger than Bao Ni's third child, Sanqi, and hasn't even graduated from elementary school yet.

"Oh dear, there are only a few months left, it's a crucial time. Of all the kids in our family, Bao Ni's two are the most worry-free. They're good at studying, have strong self-care abilities, and Bao Ni doesn't have to worry about them at all."

Wei Hong's sister-in-law's youngest son is also taking the college entrance exam this July; it's uncertain whether he'll pass. Once he finishes his exam, it'll be time for her and Han Ye to settle things.

"There's no comparison. Liu Jiu was amazing even when he was little. On the island, everyone knows how amazing Liu Jiu from the Gu family is."

Looking back on her previous life, Zhao Yuan found it quite interesting. She said it was really tough back then, and she felt like crying every day.

Wu Fang and Dai Jing listened to the lively conversation with great interest.

Dai Jing got married late, and her child is still in elementary school, so it's not obvious yet.

As for Wu Fang's children, they are just average, nothing special, but nothing particularly outstanding or annoying either.

The eldest child got into a junior college, and the younger one is in the first year of high school. His grades are a bit better than the eldest's, but we don't know what the future holds.

"Sister-in-law Wei Hong, how's Brother Han's business? I see a lot of people are taking unpaid leave and becoming their own bosses."

Zhao Yuan had only been back for a short time; she had only heard Bai Chaoyang mention it briefly.

Wu Fang glanced at Sister-in-law Wei Hong. She had heard Qian Limin from her husband that Han Ye seemed to have an unusual relationship with a young woman.

"I heard it's going well, but I haven't really been involved. I'm busy with work and taking care of the kids, so I haven't interfered in his affairs."

Sister-in-law Wei Hong forced herself to remain calm; she didn't want to bring up the mess at home. Besides upsetting everyone, receiving some condolences, or getting a few curses about Han Ye being inhuman, it wouldn't solve anything.

Bao Ni could tell that Sister-in-law Wei Hong didn't want to talk about her family, so she quickly changed the subject.

"Zhao Yuan, does your little pine tree have a boyfriend yet?"

"What little pine tree? It's a big pine tree now, over twenty years old. Tell me, why aren't kids these days in a hurry to find a partner? When my son Bai Chaoyang was this size, Bai Song was already in my belly."

Bonnie, how about we become in-laws? The two kids got along really well when they were little. Your son, Liu Jiu, adored my White Pine back then, thinking Pine Tree Brother was so handsome.

Zhao Yuan thought it was a good idea. The two families knew each other well, and both children were good. If it really worked out, that would be great.

"Liu Jiu is quite promising now. He's good-looking, studies well, and is a future pilot. Many families in the compound are interested in him. It's just that he's too young, so no one is too shy to ask him."
