Han Jingyang took Han Jingtian to a snack bar near the hospital and ordered two bowls of noodles, porridge, boiled eggs, and side dishes to go with the porridge. They also ordered two pancakes.
"Just say what you have to say. You've been hesitating for so long, it's tiring to watch."
After finishing his noodles, Han Jingyang looked at Han Jingtian across from him; the noodles were almost completely ruined.
"Brother, I... I don't know how to say it."
"Let's eat first, and then we'll think about what to say."
Han Jingyang asked the owner to pack up the food he had just ordered, as they had left in a hurry and hadn't brought any lunchboxes.
"Boss, I'll pay a deposit and bring the lunchbox back to you tomorrow. My family member is hospitalized, and I came in a hurry without bringing a lunchbox."
"Sure, why not?"
The boss was very efficient; the lunchboxes were all clean, but he still scalded them with hot water before packing the porridge, fried dough sticks, eggs, and mixed vegetables. Han Jingyang paid and carried the food back to the hospital with Han Jingtian.
"Mom, are you feeling better?"
"I'm much better now. I'm sorry to have worried you."
Zhou Weihong felt weak and her whole body ached.
"Mom, I bought millet porridge and some mixed vegetables. Have some."
"Okay, help me up, I'll eat something."
Zhou Weihong wasn't actually very hungry, but she didn't want the children to worry.
"Mom, sit still, I'll feed you."
Han Ying poured out some porridge; her brother had just bought two enamel mugs.
Wei Hong ate quite a bit of the freshly cooked millet porridge paired with a side of mixed vegetables.
"Alright, I'm full. Yingying, you should eat quickly, or it will get cold."
Zhou Weihong ate something and felt much better, which may be because the medicine was working.
"Mom, lie down a little longer. Your temperature has just gone down a bit. Rest a little longer."
Han Jingyang helped his mother lie down.
Zhou Weihong was probably really tired, both mentally and physically, or it might have been the effect of the medication; she fell asleep soon after.
"Sis, you've finished eating. I... I need to talk to you about something."
"Wait a minute, let me pack my things."
Han Ying took the used lunchbox and jar to wash them clean, then used her eyelids to touch her mother's forehead to see if it was still warm. Her mother used to do the same thing when they were sick.
"Let's go outside and talk. Let Mom get a good night's sleep."
The IV drip had been removed, and the three siblings left the ward. Right by the window was their mother's room, the innermost one. There weren't many people in the hospital at the moment.
"Say it, what do you want to say? You've been so hesitant all night, it's exhausting to watch."
Han Ying wasn't unaware that Han Jingtian was acting strangely, but she just hadn't paid attention to it.
"Big brother, sister, our parents are divorced."
"What? You're divorced? Who told you that?"
Han Ying was a little incredulous; her parents might be hiding something from them, but she never imagined it would be something this big.
Are you sure they've divorced?
"Brother, why aren't you surprised?"
Han Jingyang didn't understand. His older brother had previously said that his mother was being unreasonable.
"Mom said before that Dad was having an affair, but we didn't believe her and thought she was being paranoid. Later, I was afraid that I had wronged Mom, so during my break, I went to Dad's shop to investigate."
I saw that woman; she and Dad were being all lovey-dovey. I followed Dad a few more times; he and that woman rented a place together. Also, Dad often goes out drinking with other people, and after drinking, he leaves with some women.
Han Jingyang's words shocked Han Ying and Han Jingtian, making them realize that the person their older brother was talking about wasn't their father.
Their father loves them very much. After get off work, he comes home and brings them delicious food and small toys. He also pleads for them when their mother criticizes them.
However, since his father started his business, how long has it been since he came home on time and ate with them?
"So Mom knows too?"
"She probably knows. Our mom has been in a bad mood this year, but she's been trying her best to hold it in, just waiting for Jingtian to finish his college entrance exam."
"The acceptance letter from Jingtian University has arrived, so Mom doesn't have to put up with it anymore."
To be fair, Han Jingyang's analysis was pretty accurate.
"Big brother, what do we do?"
Han Jingtian was the youngest in the family, and suddenly he lost his pillar of support.
"What do you mean, what should we do? We're over eighteen, not minors anymore. Even if our parents divorce, we don't have to choose between living with our dad or our mom."
We all know Mom's personality; she could never accept Dad's betrayal. Dad knows this too. He and Mom have known each other since childhood and lived together for so many years; he definitely understands Mom better than we do. That's why they divorced.
When Han Jingyang first learned about his father's situation, he was furious and almost confronted him. Later, he gave up, realizing that his father was enjoying it.
"That's true. How could Mom forgive Dad? She's such an optimistic person. The fact that she suddenly fell ill means that this matter has become too much for her to bear."
Han Ying felt sad. Although she couldn't quite accept her parents' divorce, she respected her mother's choice if the divorce would make her mother feel better.
After all, it was her mother's marriage, her mother's life.
The only one heartbroken was Han Jingtian, who had just received his university admission notice when he was suddenly hit with this devastating news.
The three siblings remained silent, each with their own thoughts.
The next day, Zhou Weihong woke up early and saw her daughter lying by her bedside and her youngest son sleeping in the next bed. She felt very gratified.
