After wandering around outside for a while, Zhao Yuan took a deep breath, picked up the water bottle, and went into the ward.
Do you want some water?
"Sister-in-law, you take a rest, I'm not thirsty," Shi Tou quickly tried to make amends, admitting that he hadn't been able to resist and had embarrassed his sister-in-law.
"Yuanyuan, sit down and rest for a while. You've been on the boat for so long. By the way, were you scared during the typhoon?"
Bai Chaoyang was worried sick while he was at sea. Zhao Yuan had never experienced typhoon weather before, and he wondered if the three of them were huddled together and crying at home!
"We weren't scared, we..."
"Wow, Comrade Zhao Yuan is amazing! She wasn't scared or cried during such a big typhoon!"
Zhao Yuan was so angry that she slapped Bai Chaoyang when she was interrupted.
“I haven’t finished yet. We stayed at Bonnie’s house. She came to visit us. I hadn’t prepared anything, so Bonnie helped me with everything. I felt so useless at the time. The kids were scared, and I didn’t know what to do, so we just huddled together in bed.”
"It was terrifying. In the middle of the night, the wind even shattered the window of Bonnie's west room. Bonnie was very calm and didn't panic at all."
"There's still sixty-nine left. She even helps her mother tidy up the yard this morning."
Zhao Yuan sat by Bai Chaoyang's bedside, constantly talking about how terrible the typhoon was and how powerful Bao Ni was. It seemed that by talking about it, she was no longer afraid.
Bai Chaoyang knew that Zhao Yuan was still scared, not only because of the typhoon, but also because of his injury. She appeared calm on the surface, but kept talking as if that could drive away her fear.
Listening to the battalion commander's wife's words, Shi Tou was also moved. He wondered how his wife was doing back home, and whether anyone would help her if she encountered any trouble. He wanted to do well and bring his wife and children over as soon as possible.
The two grown men did not interrupt Zhao Yuan, listening to her recount the events of the past few days, and felt a different kind of peace of mind.
