Chapter 9 The marriage application has been approved.

“Mom, Grandpa and Father know about this too.” Bonnie first brought up Grandpa and Father to deflect her mother’s anger.

"Because of the rescue, the army awarded me a spot to enlist. I didn't want to join the army, so I recommended my second brother instead. The best way to dispel the rumors is for me to marry Comrade Gu, whom I rescued. That way, everyone will have nothing to say." Bonnie explained the situation in a few words.

She handed her enlistment notice to her grandfather and said, "Instructor Xiao said to report for duty at the time specified on the notice. Also, my marriage application with Comrade Gu has been approved." After saying that, Bao Ni ran back to her room, leaving her grandfather and father to explain to everyone.

Bonnie left, leaving Grandpa Lin and her father surrounded by everyone, who bombarded them with questions.

As for whether her mother would let her father off easily, that was not something Bao Ni should worry about.

Inside the house, just as Bonnie had predicted, chaos reigned!

"Lin Zhiyong, explain yourself clearly! What exactly happened? How did this Bao Ni get married again? Who is she marrying? How did she decide to get married?" Lin's mother was going crazy. When did this happen?

Lin Tao was also bewildered; why was he being drafted? "Dad, Dad, what's going on? Why am I the one being drafted? Wasn't Bao Ni supposed to join the army? What's going on? Explain yourself! I'm so worried!"

Brother Lin also looked expectantly at his father and grandfather, waiting for them to explain the situation.

Mr. Lin glanced at Mr. Lin, thinking, "Dad, say something! Everyone's coming after me. Didn't you bring this up first? You were the one who went to the army to find people, and you were the one who agreed to Bao Ni's marriage! Now I'm the scapegoat, and you and Bao Ni are keeping to yourselves. Is that alright?"

Grandpa Lin couldn't read minds and couldn't understand what Lin's father was thinking. But he knew he had to give his family an explanation for this matter, otherwise it would leave a rift between relatives.

"I agreed to Bonnie's decision to marry Battalion Commander Gu. Battalion Commander Gu is about the same age as Bonnie, has good work ability, and a bright future. He is the most ideal marriage partner Bonnie can find right now. Bonnie also visited Battalion Commander Gu at the hospital, and the two had a serious talk and felt that they were suitable for each other. That's why they decided to get married."

"I didn't tell you beforehand because I wanted to wait until I met Battalion Commander Gu, felt we were a good match, and decided to get married before telling you, so as not to worry you all. Bonnie has been upset seeing you arguing with people lately."

"The military enlistment spot was something Bao Ni fought for herself, and Battalion Commander Gu also helped her negotiate. Lin Tao wants to join the army, and this is also an opportunity. He should do well in the army and support Bao Ni in the future."

Grandpa Lin explained the whole story very clearly. I thought to myself, learning from someone who's also educated is just different; imitating Commissar Xiao's tone makes my speech sound sophisticated.

After listening for so long, Lin's mother understood that this marriage was the best choice for Bao Ni at the moment. However, as a mother, she still felt sad.

Bonnie is her only daughter. From a young age, she and her father spoiled Bonnie rotten, treating her like a precious gem.

My daughter, whom I raised with such care and happiness, has encountered such a distressing situation at the most crucial time of her life—finding a partner. I have to hastily choose a marriage partner, and I feel so resentful.

Lin's mother had thought countless times about finding a kind and hardworking young man who lived close to home for Bao Ni. Since her own Bao Ni couldn't cook or sew, she and Bao Ni's grandmother would take care of her to avoid being gossiped about by her future in-laws.

Unable to express her sadness and inner turmoil to anyone, Lin's mother could only sit silently to the side, shedding tears in silence.

Lin Tao, the second brother, held the heavy enlistment notice, his feelings extremely complicated. He could only silently resolve in his heart that once he was in the army, he would do his best, make a name for himself, and support Bao Ni in the future.

Bao Ni was unaware of Lin's mother's predicament; she was preoccupied with her own thoughts.

When Bonnie realized that her marriage application had been approved, she suddenly felt much more relaxed.

Knowing which direction to take is much better than being completely disoriented and not knowing where to start.

"Comrade Gu Ye, please guide me in the future!" Bonnie shouted in her heart!
