Bonnie glanced at the time; it was time to make dinner.
"Sanqi, it's time to cook."
Bao Ni called out to Gu Wei and his wife, who were quite surprised. They were cooking, why were they calling the child?
"Sister-in-law, what do we need to get together?"
Chen Lili quickly got up; she couldn't just accept something that was already prepared.
"No need, I don't know how to cook either. In my family, either Sanqi and his wife cook or your brother cooks."
Bonnie had no choice; with outsiders around, she wanted to pretend and hide the fact that she couldn't cook.
But she couldn't pretend. Today's dishes were all meat dishes, and she was afraid that she would ruin them and waste them.
"Ah! What should I do? I'll do it."
Chen Lili hadn't expected this answer; she really didn't know that her sister-in-law, Bao Ni, couldn't cook.
"Sauerkraut stewed goose, braised sea cucumber with scallions, beef stewed with potatoes..."
Chen Lili didn't really recognize the names of the dishes that Bonnie mentioned, especially the braised goose with sauerkraut, which she had never eaten before.
"Sister-in-law, this dish is too hard. I really don't know how to cook it."
"It's okay, I've prepared everything. The Panax notoginseng just needs to be stewed in the pot."
When Sanqi came out, she saw that Xuanran's mother seemed a little uneasy, and she didn't know what was wrong.
"Mom, shall we stew it now?"
"Yes, simmer it a little longer, until it's very soft and mushy."
Bonnie thought that today Gu Xuanran was there. Although he was not much younger than Sanqi, he looked more like a child.
Sanqi went into the kitchen, and Baoni and Chen Lili followed. Chen Lili was simply curious about how Sanqi, a child, could cook.
In the kitchen, Bonnie had prepared all the ingredients, even chopping the scallions, ginger, and garlic.
Sanqi put on an apron, heated oil in a wok, sautéed scallions, ginger, and garlic, then added the goose meat and stir-fried it...
Gu Wei also stood at the kitchen door, watching Sanqi skillfully wield the spatula. She was clearly an expert, and he was truly envious.
After stewing the goose, he stewed the beef. Both pots were on fire. Sanqi handed the kitchen over to his mother and went out.
"Sanqi, you're amazing!"
Gu Wei, standing at the door, gave a thumbs-up.
"There's nothing I can do about it. I'm just naturally talented, and those who are capable should do more."
Sanqi wasn't humble at all; he even boasted a little.
In this era where humility is a virtue, Sanqi's words surprised Gu Wei.
"Sister-in-law, I really envy your child. He is confident, fearless in any situation, and very brave."
When will her son Xuanran be like that? She'll be laughing in her sleep.
“Your son Xuanran is a bit introverted. Encourage him to exercise more. Gu Wei can take him to exercise when he has time. My son started exercising with his dad when he was 3 or 4 years old. He started a little later at 37, but he is still doing it now.”
Children with good physical strength and energy will naturally have more outgoing personalities.
Bonnie had no parenting experience and had to figure things out by trial and error. Of course, Gu Ye also deserves a lot of credit, as children, especially boys, are inseparable from their fathers' influence.
So far, her two children are growing up well and are quite outstanding!
Gu Wei seemed to be deep in thought; he really needed to adjust his time management.
In the evening, Gu Ye left work on time, and when he got home, dinner was just ready.
"Dad, you timed it perfectly today; the last dish just came out of the pot."
Liu Jiu took her father's briefcase, and Xuan Yi placed the braised sea cucumber with scallions on the table.
"Really? I'm keeping track of the time."
"Ha ha……"
Liu Jiu deliberately laughed twice to refute her father.
Gu Wei greeted Gu Ye, and Bao Ni told everyone to wash their hands and eat.
"Sanqi, your older brother won't be used to it. He's been eating too well this winter break. How am I supposed to get used to the cafeteria food?"
Looking at the delicious-looking dishes on the table, Gu Xuanyu didn't want to go back to school.
"Then eat more, it will last you a few days, and you can improve your diet when you come back from your holiday."
Sanqi thought that he would not live on campus in the future and would go home every day.
The meal was a delightful one for both the host and guests; it was truly delicious!
After tidying up the table, Gu Ye and Gu Wei talked about work, while Chen Lili and Bao Ni consulted each other about their children.
"Study hard this year. This is a rare opportunity. Strive to become a model student. If you don't understand anything, ask me in time."
"Take a good look at the documents you took earlier, and come back to exchange for some more after you've finished reviewing them. This time, try to keep them in Beijing."
Gu Wei understood what Gu Ye meant. Only if he performed well could Gu Ye help him out; otherwise, there was no hope.
"Brother, I understand. There's still some material I haven't finished reading. I've taken notes on the parts I don't quite understand, and I'll ask you about them next time."
Gu Wei is not a hopeless case; he works very hard.
The Gu family of three was very happy to leave Gu Ye's house.
"Mom, can we come again? I like my older brother and sister, and I also like Auntie's cooking. It's so delicious."
Gu Xuanran still felt a bit resistant to his father. He wasn't very familiar with him and didn't dare to speak to him much.
"Son, Dad will bring you here to play during your holidays. Are you tired? Do you want Dad to carry you?"
"Not tired."
Although the voice wasn't loud, Gu Wei heard it. Fortunately, he responded. Take it slow, no rush.
When Gu Sanshu's family heard that Gu Wei had gone to pursue further studies, they were quite surprised.
"Did Gu Ye help?"
Although Uncle Gu is snobbish and likes to monopolize, he has worked in the cotton-padded clothing factory for so many years, and it is a military enterprise. He knows the military affairs very well.
"Gu Wei said he had performed meritorious service before, and Gu Ye also spoke up for him."
Aunt Gu told the truth that she didn't know either; that's what Gu Wei said.
"You said Gu Ye refused to help me no matter what, and I asked him so many times, but it was no use. Yet he took the initiative to help Gu Wei. I really don't understand."
