Chapter 275 Everyone's clamoring for work

The logistics officer saw a group of military wives arrive and wondered what had happened.

"We're here to ask about jobs. When can we be assigned some?"

"There are no vacant positions right now. If there were, we would have notified them. We are also anxious, but there is a shortage of jobs nationwide." The logistics officer breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.

"Then why does Commander Gu's wife have a job? She arrived much later than us."

The logistics officer was a bit confused. He didn't know who Brigade Commander Gu's wife was, and besides, they hadn't assigned her any work!

Bonnie felt that the military wives on the island were more genuine; they didn't have as many ulterior motives. They might have some, but in the face of survival, none of those matters.

Putting everything else aside, just the first year of clearing land was truly a laborious process, painstakingly digging it out bit by bit with hoes and picks. Blisters kept forming on my hands, bursting one after another, but I endured the pain, gritted my teeth, and finally, calluses formed on my hands.
