The extra chapter is back!

After the New Year, Gu Ye and Bao Ni reluctantly left Hainan and headed back to Beijing.

Liu Jiu called a few days ago, saying she had to go to closed training, and Mu Nanfang also had an important project he couldn't refuse. There would be no one to look after the children, so they needed their help.

"Let's go back and take care of the kids. Once we're done with things in the south, we can go on a trip together."

"Yeah, I'm a little homesick too. We've been away for almost a year."

Bonnie calculated the time; they came out at the end of May last year, and now it's the end of April, which is more than half a year, almost a year.

"Let's go, buy plane tickets, let's go home."

"go home!"

Two people, each pulling a suitcase and tanned dark by the sun, embarked on their journey home.

"Wow, you two just got back from Africa?"

Commander Mu was already waiting in Gu Ye's courtyard. The spring sunshine was warm and cozy.

"I didn't go to Africa, but how can you not get tanned while staying by the beach?"

Gu Ye put his luggage aside and sat on the recliner. Bao Ni came into the room; he liked the sunshine.

"Is this interesting? You've been gone for almost a year, having so much fun you've forgotten all about home, haven't you?"

"Yes, it was very interesting. We went speedboat rides, surfing, diving... there were so many activities, it was so much fun. And there were all kinds of fruits, they were so delicious."

Gu Ye got up and opened his suitcase; they had specially brought back some fresh fruit.

"Try this, it's mango, lychee, and wax apple. I'll open a coconut for you in a bit."

Gu Ye brought out a lot of fruit; they didn't bring much else, mostly fresh fruit.

"Then I have to try it. It's been carried back from thousands of miles away, it's a rare treat!"

Commander Mu was surprised that Gu Ye would bring back fruit; he was quite thoughtful.

"My wife requested it, saying it was so you could try something new. The kids had it during the Lunar New Year, so we brought some for you to try too. Just you wait, tomorrow, those women are going to have another tea party."

"You two are really living a carefree life, you're really enjoying yourself."

Commander Mu was also very envious. They had no choice. The couple in the north couldn't take care of the children for the time being. What could they do?

“The couple from the north haven’t come back yet. Once they’re back, you can join us and we can go on a trip together. Children need to spend more time with their parents; it strengthens their bond. Take my children Liu Jiu and San Qi, for example; they were practically raised by Bao Ni.”

Gu Ye recalled how Bao Ni went from being a clueless new mother to someone who could skillfully understand her child's various needs, even though the child couldn't express himself very well at that time.

"They should be back soon. After this project ends, they won't be participating together anymore; one of them will stay behind to take care of the child."

Commander Mu also knew that children need their parents, and grandparents could never replace parents.

Commander Mu and Gu Ye were talking about his journey in the courtyard, while inside the house, Bao Ni was on the phone.

"Sister Wei Hong, I'm back. Come over tomorrow, to the courtyard house. I brought back some fruit from the south, let's get together."

"Great! I was just talking to Wu Fang and Zhao Yuan a few days ago, saying, 'Have you forgotten you have a home? You've been gone for almost a year. You're really something else!'"

"Haha... We haven't had enough fun yet. If it weren't for Liu Jiu calling, we would have stayed for a whole year before coming back. It's settled then. I'll call Wu Fang and the others. See you at the courtyard tomorrow."

After hanging up with Zhou Weihong, Bonnie called Wu Fang and Zhao Yuan to arrange a time for the gathering the next day.

"Old Mu is gone?"

"They're gone."

Gu Ye pulled the suitcase in, and Bao Ni took it from him, wanting to take out all the fruit so it wouldn't spoil.

"Let's get together at the courtyard house tomorrow. I've already arranged it with Zhao Yuan and the others. Have you invited Lao Mu and the others yet?"

"As I said, I don't know if they have time."

Gu Ye went inside to wash up and noticed that his clothes smelled.

The next day, Bonnie and Gu Ye drove to the courtyard house early in the morning.

Speaking of this car, Bonnie bought it herself after she retired. It cost her quite a bit of money, but it's very convenient to use.

Bonnie later bought several shops and courtyards. She rented out the shops and collected rent. The courtyard that her uncle and his family used to run a restaurant was later demolished, and Bonnie received four apartments and some cash as compensation.

"We've arrived in the south."

Bonnie saw the car parked in front of the courtyard house and knew it was from the south.

Upon seeing Gu Ye's car, Mu Nanfang got out with the children. The two children rushed into Bao Ni's arms; they hadn't seen each other for several months and were kissing passionately.

"Mom and Dad, thank you for your hard work. These are the children's things. I have to leave in a hurry and will probably be back in a month or two."

"Okay, you go ahead and leave. We'll take care of the child."

Mu Nanfang left in a hurry, and the two children were happy. They didn't have to go to school today and could play to their hearts' content.

"Let's go in."

Gu Ye opened the door, and Bao Ni led the two children into the yard.

Children in their early teens are at an age where they love to play, and they are happy as long as they don't have to go to school.

Hearing the noise in the neighboring courtyard, Sister-in-law Gu knew that Bao Ni and the others had arrived, so she quickly came over.

“You’ve finally decided to come back. You’ve been gone for almost a year.”

"Sister-in-law, did you miss me?"

Bonnie gave Sister-in-law Gu a hug; she knew that Sister-in-law Gu really missed her.

"I miss you. I'm so bored without you at home. Your older brother is busy with work, and I hardly ever see the kids. I'm all alone!"

Sister-in-law Gu truly felt it was all meaningless. The men in the family were all focused on their work, the eldest son's family didn't live in Beijing, the younger son was busy being affectionate with his girlfriend, and the second son seemed to have been lost. The house was so big, yet it felt empty.
