The hospital was filled with a tense and depressing atmosphere, and the atmosphere outside the delivery room was even more solemn.
Zhou Xingze held his mother's hand tightly, and the two of them waited in front of the closed door with anxious looks on their faces.
Mother Zhou frowned, her worries flooding in like a tide. She murmured to herself, "Xiaotang's due date is still half a month away. How could she suddenly go into labor ahead of schedule? This should be considered a premature birth, right? God bless, please don't let this have any negative effects on the child, let alone any sequelae!"
Zhou Xingze quickly comforted his mother in a gentle voice: "Mom, don't worry, I have already asked the doctor in detail. Although Xiaotang's situation is premature, their hospital has handled similar cases before. As long as the follow-up care is proper, neither the adult nor the child will be affected too much."
However, despite being comforted by her son, Zhou's mother still couldn't completely let go.
She stretched her neck and stared at the door of the delivery room, as if she wanted to see everything that was happening inside through the thick door.
At the same time, she kept praying silently in her heart: God, please bless my grandson or granddaughter to be born healthy and safe. It would be best if it was a big fat boy, so that our Zhou family would have successors!
Seeing his mother so uneasy, Zhou Xingze felt distressed. He carefully supported his mother and slowly walked to a white wooden chair beside the corridor. He gently helped her sit down and stayed with her patiently.
Zhou Xingze's face was as pale as paper, with beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He stood anxiously outside the delivery room, his feet seemed to be nailed to the ground, unable to move at all.
He bent down slightly, and pried at the narrow crack of the door with both hands, as if this would bring him closer to the person inside. He carefully put his ear close to it, trying to catch even the slightest sound.
Suddenly, heart-wrenching screams came from inside the door: "Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah... "
The painful sound was like a sharp sword, piercing through the wall and echoing throughout the corridor.
Each sound was like a heavy hammer hitting Zhou Xingze's heart, causing his heart to tremble involuntarily.
Zhou Xingze frowned deeply, and his eyebrows were twisted into a knot.
At this moment, he felt as if his heart was pierced by an extremely sharp meat hook, and then the hook kept turning, pulling it out little by little.
The pain instantly spread throughout his body, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
However, despite the inner torment, Zhou Xingze still endured the pain, stood outside the door and silently cheered Xiaotang in the delivery room.
He opened his lips slightly and whispered softly: "Xiaotang, you must hold on. The pain is only temporary. Just bear with it and it will pass soon."
Over and over again, it seemed as if these words could pass through the thick door panels to Xiaotang's ears, giving her strength and courage.
Just then, a clear and pleasant cry was heard from the delivery room.
The crying was like the sound of nature, instantly breaking the tense and solemn atmosphere in the corridor.
Zhou Xingze was stunned at first, then an ecstatic smile appeared on his face.
The nurse carefully held the swaddled baby and gently pushed open the slightly heavy door of the delivery room.
With a gentle smile on her face, she said softly, "Ruan Xiaotang's family, congratulations! He is a lively, healthy and lovely boy!"
Zhou's mother, who was sitting on the side waiting anxiously, suddenly lit up her eyes after hearing these words.
When she found out it was a boy, she was so excited that she immediately burst into laughter. She quickly stood up and took two steps at a time to walk towards the nurse.
Mother Zhou excitedly took the baby from the nurse's hands, looked at the little life in her arms with joy, and kept saying thank you: "Thank you, doctor! Thank you so much, you have worked so hard!"
Zhou Xingze, who was standing aside, first glanced at the child quickly, then turned his gaze to the delivery room, and asked with anxiety and concern on his face: "Nurse, how is my wife? Why hasn't she been pushed out yet?" As he asked, he stood on tiptoe and tried to look inside, as if he wanted to see his wife as soon as possible.
At this time, the nurse smiled and replied: "Don't worry, don't worry, look, it's being pushed over here! The child's mother is very strong and brave, and she successfully completed the birth. As a husband, you must love your wife well in the future!"
Zhou Xingze looked in the direction the nurse pointed and saw a white hospital bed slowly moving towards them.
Xiaotang, lying on the hospital bed, looked as pale as paper and very weak. Seeing this, Zhou Xingze's heart felt as if it was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and it began to twitch and ache.
A hint of bitterness spread in his voice, and his vision gradually became blurred.
With a hoarse voice, he leaned over and touched her pale face with his warm palms tremblingly.
The trembling voice brushed against my ears, "Wife, you've worked so hard. We finally have a child. He's healthy and strong. His mouth looks like yours, and he cries like you, too."
Ruan Xiaotang opened her eyes weakly, "Then what looks like you?"
Zhou Xingze held her hands tightly with tears in his eyes, "Your eyebrows look like me, full of heroism."
Zhou's mother carefully picked up a slightly old but clean teacup and filled it with warm water.
