Chapter 11 Big Chicken Leg (2/2)

At least he and his wife only need to wait here for their daughter to bring them food.

Qin Qing had cooked many meals before, but this was her first time using a big stove in the countryside. She kept calling for Shitou to come in and help. Shitou lit the fire in no time, which made her doubt life.

Could it be that this stove is cheating people?

Qin Qing stood tall on a small stool, pouring water into the pot with great difficulty. When the water soon boiled, she added a bowl of sorghum flour and chopped vegetable leaves, stirring...

Shi Tou saw his sister busying around and looking quite capable, so he felt relieved and let her do her thing.

Zhu Lihua saw the curl of smoke rising from her house from a distance, which scared her so much that she quickened her pace. When she opened the kitchen door, she saw two little cats huddled in front of the stove. When they saw her come back, their tails were almost wagging to the sky.

She took down the handkerchief hanging behind the door, dipped it in water and wiped off the black dust on her daughter's face bit by bit, revealing the child's slightly sallow complexion. Only her two peach blossom eyes made her look much cuter, and she was a beauty.

After wiping the child's face, she lifted the lid of the pot. A misty vapor spread out in her face, revealing a large bowl of wild vegetable and sorghum paste and a bowl of quail eggs.

Zhu Lihua was shocked. "Where did the egg come from?"

"My sister found it when we were mowing the lawn this morning." Shi Tou said honestly.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Lihua glanced at her well-behaved little daughter. This child is so lucky.

She touched her daughter's little head.

Smart and capable, what did she do in her previous life to be able to wait for such a child?

The two naughty kids cooked all eight quail eggs in one go.

Zhu Lihua was a little reluctant to eat it.

She scooped her own portion into a bowl and drank it with some pickled cabbage. This wild vegetable and sorghum porridge was flavorful and even tastier than what she made.

Qin Qing saw that Zhu Lihua did not eat the quail eggs and sighed silently in her heart. As a minister, she was given two. She gently cracked the shell to reveal the white egg white inside. Qin Qing stretched out her hand and placed the egg in her mother's bowl.

"Nannan..." Zhu Lihua opened her mouth softly, but didn't know what to say.

"One is enough for me!" she said obediently.

"You kid!" Although the tone was one of reproach, it was not difficult to hear the doting in it. Looking at the younger son who was eating without even raising his head, the difference was immediately apparent.

Otherwise, why do people say that daughters are like little cotton-padded jackets?

She chewed the flavorful egg whites, and even the dry egg yolks became fragrant and tender. The satisfaction she felt in one bite was more delicious than egg drop soup.

And all of this was given by my youngest daughter.

Qin Zhilin and Goudan looked at the scorching sun and simply hid in the shade of a tree. Amidst the greenery, their two shadows were dark and thin, looking extremely frail.

Zhu Lihua came over with a basket and saw this scene. The people who went to work around them had already gathered to eat, and only the two of them were waiting with empty stomachs. Thinking of this, Zhu Lihua trotted a few steps.

"Don't worry." Qin Zhilin's voice became hoarse, and he hurried over to take the bamboo basket from his wife.

It was filled with two large bowls of thick sorghum porridge. It was the lean period between the harvests and the summer harvests. Although they could get food subsidies after moving here, those who ate fast had to rely on wild vegetables to fill their stomachs.

As the bag of grain gradually shriveled up, the paste in the bowl was gradually able to reflect a person's reflection.

"Have you eaten?" Qin Zhilin looked at her gently, not missing a single expression.

Zhu Lihua said helplessly, "I've already eaten at home. My daughter made today's meal."

Qin Zhilin finally felt relieved and started drinking in big gulps.

Zhu Lihua calmly opened the lid of the bowl, revealing the quail eggs inside, and gave two to each of the father and son.

"Is this a bird egg?" Goudan asked in surprise. He was already a little worried that Shitou would not be able to take care of his sister.

This is even touching bird eggs!

Zhu Lihua gave her son a reassuring look and carefully placed the two quail eggs in the bowl.

"These are quail eggs that your sister picked up!"

"There are wild quails on the mountain." Goudan's eyes were full of disbelief.

"Eat it quickly, I also ate two at home!" Afraid that they would push each other, she told a little lie.

Qin Zhilin hunched his waist, touched the white and tender egg with his rough and red fingers, and then carefully picked it up. The feeling of hunger prompted him to involuntarily stuff the quail egg into his mouth and chew it.

Goudan also ate it with great relish, and was about to put the rest in his pocket when Zhu Lihua saw him and quickly told him to eat it, saying that he couldn't leave it out!

Goudan finished it reluctantly, and he felt like crying after eating it!
