Chapter 25 Entrusting an Orphan
Qin Qing carefully peeled off the banana leaves, revealing the contents. The four members of the family stared at it without blinking. They hadn't seen meat for a long time since they drank chicken soup last time. Eating meat was something they only dreamed of.
Right now, the impact of this meat on people is quite strong.
Qin Zhilin, worthy of being the head of the family, quickly regained his composure, frowned slightly, and asked, "Qingqing, where did this meat come from?"
Damn, that was a close call. I knew you guys would get to the bottom of everything.
"My mother forced it on me."
Seeing their expressions of disbelief, Qin Qing quickly added, "Her family has connections in the slaughterhouse," so she was able to get these things.
Zhu Lihua looked at her daughter with a worried look on her face, and said with determination, "You can't just take other people's things for no reason. Give them back to them." After saying that, she didn't even look at the pig's trotter again.
This family is sometimes just too upright.
Qin Qing carried the pig's trotters into the kitchen. Seeing that Zhu Lihua was still troubled, she raised her voice a little, "I usually tutor her daughter, and she gave me the meat as compensation. Why shouldn't I take it?"
Goudan and Shitou looked at their self-righteous sister with admiration. How long has she been in school, but she can already tutor others? People with talent are just different.
Qin Zhilin and his wife finally felt relieved.
Lying is such a tiring thing.
Zhu Lihua hung up the pig's trotter. A closer look revealed that there was quite a bit of meat left on the big bone. She would stew it in the evening.
She deftly added the water, broke the pig bones in half and put them into the pot with cold water, not wasting any oil or fish. Even the palm-sized piece of pig liver was carefully sprinkled with a little salt.
Next to the stove was the bell wheat that Qin Zhilin brought back last night. She had ground it into powder on the team's millstone before dawn, and it was just about ready now.
It was late in the morning and no one saw it.
Zhu Lihua kneaded the bell wheat flour into dough and set it aside to rise.
After hesitating for a while, she came to Qin Zhilin and said, "Dad, why don't you go to your sister-in-law's house and bring your mother over..."
She didn't dare to take it over rashly, for fear of causing trouble and even making it uncertain whether the old lady could eat it.
Qin Zhilin nodded.
In the past, the children had shouted and were often mocked by their eldest sister-in-law. Now that his second uncle had personally invited them, he dared not respond casually.
Seeing the soup in the pot slowly simmering and emitting a fragrant aroma, Zhu Lihua hurriedly closed the doors and windows, and even stuffed the cracks in the windows with rags to prevent the smell from getting out and causing gossip.
Goudan was chopping wood in the yard absentmindedly, his heart completely focused on the pot. Qin Qing kindly reminded him, "Brother, stop chopping wood. What if you get your hands on it?"
Goudan embarrassedly turned his head away, put down the hatchet, carried the firewood into the kitchen, and stayed there for a long time before coming out.
Shi Tou had already gone out with Qin Zhilin. He was too lazy to be tempted at home. Anyway, his father had to come back before dinner could start, so he just went out for a stroll with him.
Qin Zhilin hurried back only when the night spread and gradually invaded the courtyard. Goudan greeted him excitedly, but did not see Old Lady Lu.
Zhu Lihua saw that her husband's face was not very good, and she didn't see the person who was supposed to come, so she hurriedly asked, "What's wrong? Where's Mom? Why didn't she come?"
Qin Zhilin winked at Shitou, who quickly closed the gate. He then sat down on the small stool in front of the steps and spoke with a complicated expression.
"Something happened..."
"What's wrong with Mom?" Zhu Lihua was very worried.
"It's Mrs. Lu. It's her fault. Mom and I helped."
Zhu Lihua's heart sank back into her stomach, but there was still a hint of worry on her face.
Even Qin Qing came over with a serious look on his face.
"What's going on?"
"I heard he was frightened that day and kicked, so he's been staying in bed for the past few days..." He paused before continuing, "I don't know what happened, but he fell off the bed at noon. Unfortunately, there was no one at home, so when someone found him, he was breathing more than he was breathing..."
Qin Qing rushed to ask, "Isn't it usually taken care of by her grandson?"
