Chapter 49 Buying Food (2/2)

"Sister, you are home alone."

Zhang Ying's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly explained, "How could that be possible? I have a younger brother. Otherwise, how could I buy so much food? Men just need to eat more."

Zhang Ying opened the bag and took a look. It was full of white rice.

Just as she was about to take a closer look, Yu Cong's hand suddenly came over her, frightening Zhang Ying so much that she quickly drew back as if she had been burned by fire.

"Don't worry, sister. This is pure rice, not adulterated."

Zhang Ying smiled awkwardly when she heard this and didn't want to stay with this man any longer. She always felt that Yu Cong's eyes looked at people in a creepy way. She swiftly handed over the money wrapped in a handkerchief. The man took it with a dark look in his eyes.

"Sister, let us two help you move the food in."

The woman was a little nervous, thinking that this was like inviting a wolf into the house.

The light in the west wing suddenly lit up.

Zhang Ying breathed a sigh of relief and said loudly, "My brother is up now. He will help me move the food. You don't have to worry about it."

Yu Cong was a little unwilling, and kept tugging at his sleeve. When he saw the figure on the window from the corner of his eye, he smiled and said, "Come on, come find me if you need anything in the future."

After saying that, he turned around and left.

Zhang Ying patted his chest with lingering fear and prepared to check the food.

Who knew that when she looked up, she saw Shao Ge leaning against the door frame, looking at her with a smile.

"Aunt, when did I become your brother? I don't deserve it."

After saying that, he slammed the door.

Zhang Ying spat bitterly. This tactless guy didn't even come to help her.

She was so tired that she struggled to move the hundreds of kilograms of food into the house.

Zhang Ying sat at the table and gulped down a bowl of water. After washing up, he lay down on the bed. His mind was tired and confused, as if he had forgotten something.

Early the next morning, Zhang Ying, who had overexerted himself the previous day, felt sore in his hands and feet. He had just gotten up when the courtyard door was pushed open and Yang Aiguo hurried in carrying a bag of grain.

"Yingzi, have you bought any food? I asked my fellow villagers to bring back some cornmeal. I'm afraid you and Liansheng won't have enough to eat." The dark and strong man's face was full of worry.

Zhang Ying hurriedly took the things.

"I bought it. I bought it the day after you sent me the money. Look, it's a whole big bag." The woman pushed open the kitchen door, and inside was a bag of standard rice, a full 100 kilograms.

Yang Aiguo frowned and strode over.

He muttered quietly, "How can I buy rice?"

It’s a top-notch one, and it doesn’t look cheap.

Yang Aiguo turned the rice over, his eyes suddenly became sharp, and with a thrust of his big palm, he turned over most of the rice. The wild wheat and tiny clods of earth lying on top of the rice were particularly eye-catching.

Zhang Ying's eyes went dark, and he trembled as he walked forward and pushed the entire bag of rice to the ground. Except for the layer on the surface, the rest was filled with wild wheat.

Yang Aiguo's face flushed red, and he stared at the woman with his eyes wide open.

"Yingzi, you've been tricked. Where did you buy this rice?!"

Zhang Ying's eyes widened in fear, his heart beat rapidly, and even his lips turned pale.

As if she remembered something, she suddenly opened the cupboard door, revealing three bags of rice hidden inside. She hurriedly opened and pushed them down one by one, and without exception, they contained wild wheat.

"Ah..." The woman screamed hysterically.

Yang Aiguo was stunned by the scene before him.

He grabbed Zhang Ying with both hands and forced her to calm down.

"Yingzi, where did you buy all this food?"

Zhang Ying's teeth were chattering, his tone was desperate.

"On the black market, a man with a lot of experience cheated me out of 400 kilograms of pure rice..."

Yang Aiguo's eyes were filled with disbelief, but he quickly reacted.

"Where did you get so much money?"

The price of rice is now comparable to that of meat, and the money he sent back cannot buy so much.

Zhang Ying suddenly covered his mouth, realizing that he had said the wrong thing, and his eyes were filled with panic.

This rough-looking man became careful for once.

"Where did you get the money? Tell me, do you have someone else outside?

Every word a man says is heart-wrenching.

Her face turned pale instantly.
