Chapter 15: Reading
After all, Old Mrs. Lu was reluctant to eat it, so she gave half of the chicken leg to her eldest grandson, half to her son, and drank the remaining soup herself.
Song Huilan didn't even taste the soup and couldn't help but frown and complain.
"We all came here to escape famine, but I never thought my brothers and sisters would live so well and even have meat to eat."
"Don't talk nonsense. Zhilin injured his leg and needs to be healed." Qin Zhimu scolded in dissatisfaction.
The stewed chicken was crispy, soft and tender, and it was delicious in the mouth. The man had an endless aftertaste. After all, he had eaten two bites of the meat. As the eldest brother, he could not find any fault with his younger brother.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I just feel sorry for our Zegang. He can't even have a sip of soup. It's all because of our poverty."
You don’t need a ticket to buy chicken! With Zhu Lihua’s stingy attitude, how can they afford to eat chicken if the old lady doesn’t give them a secret subsidy?
You're dreaming.
"Everyone's family lives like this. You should be happy that you can still eat."
The man saw through his wife's trick at a glance and angrily threw the pancake back onto the plate.
Qin Tongtong didn't care whether she drank the chicken soup or not. She never had a share of these things anyway. Seeing her father angrily throw the pancake into the bowl, her eyes lit up and she said, "Dad, you don't want to eat it!"
Qin Zhimu said in a stern tone, "I don't want to eat anymore!"
I'm so angry.
"Then I'll eat it." She quickly picked up the wild vegetable cake and stuffed it into her mouth. Grandma always cooked according to the number of people, and she didn't go to work, so she could only get a bowl of clear porridge that was so thick that it could reflect her reflection. How could she be full?
"You greedy guy, he steals everything from your father." Song Huilan raised her chopsticks to hit him, but Qin Zhimu stopped her in mid-air.
"Enough, what are you making a fuss about!" He glared at Song Huilan fiercely. The latter opened her mouth, but finally knew what was going on and stopped talking.
Old Mrs. Lu was also very angry. It turned out that in the eyes of her daughter-in-law, she was not even worthy of a sip of soup.
Qin Zegang looked unsatisfied and said carelessly, "Mom, I want to eat more."
The latter glanced at the old lady dimly and said, "Mom has no money or tickets to buy you food."
Why did she suddenly make a fuss? It turned out she was waiting for her here.
Old Lady Lu looked at her eldest grandson expectantly and scolded him, "Your uncle injured his leg by eating chicken and needs to be healed. We'd be happy if he could share a bowl with us. After all, we didn't pay for the chicken, so how could we let you eat as much as you want?"
After saying that, he glared at Song Huilan coldly.
What does it mean? Did I guess wrong? The chicken was not bought by the old lady.
Qin Qing had no idea that sending a bowl of soup would cause the family to be involved in a lawsuit. At this moment, she was happily drinking chicken soup.
There were several pieces of meat in Shitou and Goudan's bowls. They were so greedy that they chewed the bones and swallowed them, revealing a very satisfied expression on their faces.
Zhu Lihua carefully peeled off the skin on the chicken neck and placed it in her two sons' bowls. When it was Qin Qing's turn, she covered her bowl with her hands with a look of rejection and shook her head.
How could goosebumps be her hobby?
Zhu Lihua smiled helplessly, then started to nibble on it.
After finishing the meal, she went into the room and cleared away the bowl Qin Zhilin had placed beside the bed. Seeing that the soup had been completely drunk, Zhu Lihua was stunned for a moment and asked, "How about another bowl?"
"That's enough, I'm full." The man refused repeatedly.
Today she served more soup according to the man's appetite, but she didn't expect Qin Zhilin to eat it all. This made her wonder if this man had never been full.
It's all my fault that I took care of the children and neglected him.
Seeing his wife's disbelief, the honest man blushed and said, "The chicken soup was so delicious, I couldn't help it and ate too much."
Zhu Lihua finally felt relieved and left.
The next day, she mixed the leftover chicken soup with water and cooked a pot of wild vegetable porridge. Only then did Zhu Lihua take her son to work. She really couldn't delay for a single day.
Qin Zhilin and Qin Qing were left looking at each other in bewilderment.
Fortunately, Qin Zhilin spoke up quickly to ease the awkward atmosphere.
"Qingqing, come here. Dad will teach you how to read, okay?" Seeing that his little daughter is almost ten years old, he still has to find a way to send her to school. Since he has nothing to do now, he might as well start with her enlightenment.
The man held a piece of burnt charcoal in his hand, bent over and wrote two words with great effort.
