The next morning, Huo Yingjie and his parents rushed to catch the train. Since the train was at six o'clock in the morning and they had to leave at five o'clock to avoid missing it, they did not plan to eat breakfast and did not want to trouble the He family.
After returning home last night, He Tiantian only slept for a short while before getting up to cook for the Huo family of three.
I kneaded the dough, rolled it out, and added some cabbage leaves and eggs to make noodles.
He Tiantian finished cooking and went next door to call them over for dinner.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Lifang scolded, "Sweet girl, didn't we agree yesterday that it's too early and we don't need to make breakfast?"
He Tiantian smiled and said nonchalantly, "It's so cold. If I don't eat something, I'll get too cold."
"It's too much trouble," Jiang Lifang said with relief. This sweet girl's actions were even more considerate than those of her own daughter.
"Aunt Jiang, Uncle Huo, Brother Yingjie, hurry up, or the noodles will get soggy." He Tiantian said reproachfully. "Anyway, you've already packed your things. Just push the tricycle and pull the luggage, and you'll be at the train station in no time."
"Hehe, Sweetie is so thoughtful, let's not stand on ceremony," Huo Zhekun said, joining them for noodles.
He Jingyu and Wang Shuping have already gotten up.
Grandma Qi, the old lady, is getting old and needs less sleep, so she also gets up early.
The Huo family of three came in and each ate a large bowl of noodles. The soup was hot and comforting, making them feel warm all over.
Then He Jingyu rode a tricycle to help them carry their luggage and went to the train station together.
Wei Zhekun, Jiang Lifang, and He Jingyu were in front, chatting about some things related to their work unit.
He Tiantian and Huo Yingjie were behind them, talking in hushed tones, as if they had endless things to say to each other.
The three adults in front chuckled as they watched, while the two in the back remained oblivious and continued chatting happily.
When we arrived at the train station, they had already started checking tickets.
Since they were all adults and the three of them could carry their luggage, He Jingyu didn't buy platform tickets. After entering the ticket gate, there was no one else in sight.
He Jingyu brought He Tiantian out of the train station. Seeing that his daughter looked a little disappointed, he said, "Tiantian, come on up, Daddy will take you home."
"Thank you, Dad." He Tiantian smiled. She still had her parents. Seeing that it was getting light outside and there were already some pedestrians on the road, she got on the tricycle.
Huo Yingjie boarded the train with his parents. They had bought sleeper tickets for the same compartment. Huo Yingjie hadn't slept well the night before, so he climbed up to sleep as soon as he got to the carriage.
Jiang Lifang wanted to ask some questions, but seeing how tired her son was, she had to hold back.
At noon, Huo Yingjie woke up, got off the top bunk, and saw that only his mother was there. He asked, "Mom, where's Dad?"
“Your dad went to buy some food,” Jiang Lifang said. “Son, come here, I have something to ask you.”
Huo Yingjie sat down, looking slightly nervous, and asked, "Mom, what do you want to ask?"
"Of course it's about you and Tiantian!" Jiang Lifang said. "Your father and I love Tiantian terribly. But she's still young, you can't do anything reckless!"
Upon hearing his mother's words, Huo Yingjie blushed and hurriedly said, "Mom, I'm an adult now, of course I know what's important. Don't worry about me."
Jiang Lifang patted Huo Yingjie's head and said, "I'm reminding you because I know you're all grown up now. The situation is still unclear, and Tiantian will have to stay in the countryside for a while and can't come back for the time being. Although I also want to hold my grandson soon, I can't bear to see Tiantian suffer like this. It's already hard enough for her to be alone in a foreign land. Wouldn't it be even more pitiful if she had a child with her? Besides, our Huo family's grandson can't be born under these circumstances!"
Hearing his mother's words, Huo Yingjie became even more embarrassed and said, "Mom, how could you say that about your son! Of course I know I can't let Tian Tian suffer like this. I only kissed her, I didn't do anything else!"
"That's good." Jiang Lifang nodded. "It's good that you know what's important. I just hope the situation stabilizes and that Tiantian comes back soon. Once the time comes, I'll take care of things for the two of you."
Huo Yingjie smiled and said, "Mom, don't worry, things will get better. Once we get through this period, we'll have new opportunities."
“As soon as you came back, you talked to your dad about something and kept me outside. I don’t know what you were talking about,” Jiang Lifang said. “Anyway, you and your father are both sensible, so I won’t worry about it.”
"Mom, I will make sure you and Tian Tian have a good life," Huo Yingjie said, patting his mother's arm to comfort her.
Just then, Wei Zhekun brought over three lunchboxes of soup and said, "This is good today, it's seaweed and egg soup! Hurry up and get up to eat some."
"You guys eat first, I'm going to wash my hands," Huo Yingjie said, then took a towel and went to both sides of the train.
After using the restroom and washing their hands, Huo Yingjie brought over a clean, damp towel to wipe his parents' hands.
Then she took out a package containing He Tiantian's easy-to-make pancakes.
"Oh my, this sweet treat is even better than Jingyu's wife's cooking," Huo Zhekun said. "These pancakes are so good, soft and fragrant."
“Yes, Tian Tian has suffered a lot in the countryside,” Jiang Lifang said. “It’s heartbreaking, but it’s good this way. Even if we’re not around when Yingjie and Tian Tian get married in the future, I can rest assured.”
“Exactly, having a wife who cooks well is great,” Huo Zhekun chimed in. “Your cooking skills haven’t improved over the years. I usually eat at work, while Yingjie mostly eats at the He family’s house.”
Jiang Lifang smiled sheepishly and said, "I'm quite curious. It's the same thing, but why does mine not taste as good as Shuping's? When we were young, I would have been angry if you said that, but now that I'm older, I know that these things can't be forced. If I can't do it, I just can't."
"Everyone has their own strengths, and you're one of the best surgeons in your hospital!" Wei Zhekun praised. "Although it's a bit of a shame, I won't look down on you, so don't worry."
"What a joke!" Jiang Lifang rolled her eyes. "You're always just being sarcastic! The kids are here!"
"Hehe." Huo Zhekun chuckled, "The child is eating and didn't hear me."
Huo Yingjie rolled his eyes. "Don't ignore your son like that!"
He is eating, but eating only requires the mouth; the eyes can see, and the ears can hear!
He Tiantian had prepared quite a lot of things, and they also brought their own food coupons, so even though the journey was monotonous, at least they wouldn't be short of food. At night, the family of three slept in their sleeper berths. Although people got off the train frequently and they woke up occasionally, they still slept for a long time.
We chatted and laughed along the way, so I wasn't lonely or too tired. (To be continued.)
