Chapter 401 Taking Photos, Tabloid Gossip

401

Thinking about what she had seen recently, Grandma Qi wanted to talk to Bai Qiongyu about it.

"I've heard about what happened in your family," said Grandma Qi. "I've also heard from Shuliang about what those people have done over the years. In short, they're ungrateful wretches. Don't be sad or upset because of those insignificant people."

"That's true, but I've invested my feelings after all, and it wasn't my intention to go this far," Bai Qiongyu sighed. "However, people's hearts are hard to satisfy. It's not my style to keep giving in, so I'm not going to give in anymore. It might be better for them to face reality sooner rather than later."

“Yes, you get attached to even a dog or cat, let alone people,” Grandma Qi said. “Cherish those you care about, and forget about those who are unimportant. We’re all in our sixties, and we don’t know how many more years we have left. So why not live life to the fullest?”

"Sister Qi is so insightful!" Bai Qiongyu said. "Yes, most of my life has passed, and I must live these last few years as happily as possible."

The two old ladies chatted enthusiastically, and laughter could be heard from time to time.

"Sister Tiantian, what are you eavesdropping on?" Qi Zhengmin came up behind He Tiantian and asked in a low voice. Sister Tiantian was acting suspiciously; if you wanted to hear, you could just walk over.

He Tiantian covered Qi Zhengmin's mouth and said, "Keep your voice down, the two grandmothers are chatting."

"You can just go in and listen." Qi Zhengmin was even more puzzled. There were sofas inside, why would you want to eavesdrop outside?

Furthermore, Grandma Bai and Grandmother Bai inside speak so loudly, and they don't seem to care about what others think.

"No need, I'll just listen. Let's prepare lunch together right away," He Tiantian said, and went to the kitchen.

Bai Qiongyu left after having lunch at the Qi family's house.

Just as the car left the Qi family's gate, it was blocked by several people, two women with a child.

Once they confirmed it was Bai Qiongyu's car, they stepped forward and knelt down in front of it.

"Little sister Bai, you can't abandon An'an and Awei! They've called you 'mother' for so many years! You can't be so heartless!" An old woman threw herself onto the hood of the car and wailed.

Sitting in the car, Bai Qiongyu's temples throbbed a few times, her face darkening. It seemed the lesson hadn't been taught enough.

We've brought shame upon the entire Qi family.

"Make way," Xianglan said, sticking her head out of the car.

Seeing this, Xin An'an quickly pulled the child to the back window of the car and said, "Mother, please, take back that statement. We will behave from now on."

Bai Qiongyu didn't want to stay here any longer and said, "Have the bodyguards pull them apart."

These people will always do things in the most foolish way, thinking that as long as they beg and shed tears, they can get forgiveness from others, and they don't remember how much harm their actions have caused to others!

Too selfish and too self-righteous!

Xianglan made a gesture to the bodyguards behind her, and seven or eight burly men got out of the car and pulled the three people away from the front of the car.

"Grandma, don't you love me anymore?" The child's shrill voice echoed around, drawing attention.

Bai Qiongyu did not show up. Since the relationship had been severed, there was no need to waste energy on these self-righteous people.

"Bai Qiongyu, don't go too far. If you push us too far, I'll hang myself in front of your door!" Ye Weiwen said irrationally, dressed in rags and appearing delirious to achieve the desired effect.

With the bodyguards blocking the way, the road was cleared, and the car started again, leaving the people behind behind.

The bodyguard followed closely behind and left, leaving the three generations of the family in a disheveled state.

By the time the Qi family sent someone over, Bai Qiongyu had already left, and she looked at the three bewildered people.

Ye Weiwen knew it was embarrassing. He had already taken the photos he wanted, so there was no need to stay. He left with his daughter and granddaughter, looking dejected.

As they walked further away, they saw a foreign man, who was Xin An'an's husband, Jeffrey Gladstone, holding a camera. The boy from earlier was Xin An'an's son, Denton Gladstone.

"How did it go?" Xin An'an asked. "Did you get the picture?"

“Honey, we’ve got the shot,” Jeffrey said. Their company desperately needed investment, or they would go bankrupt in less than a week.

How sad this is!

Without the company, he would have no decent life, so he was happy to work with his wife to stage this drama and make Bai Qiongyu submit.

“Alright, tomorrow’s newspaper will show you how despicable that bitch was,” Ye Weiwen said. “Let’s go home.”

These people are willing to do anything for money.

They had planned this very well. If Bai Qiongyu refused to comply, they would continue doing this, publishing articles in the newspapers to damage Bai Qiongyu's reputation.

Ye Weiwen not only published a notice in the newspaper, but also hired a lawyer to pursue her ex-husband's property and sue for unfair distribution of assets.

Regardless of whether they win the lawsuit or not, Bai Qiongyu has lost face, and the proud Bai Qiongyu won't be able to hold out for long.

And so, the next day, several large photos appeared in some tabloids, along with articles accusing the cruel stepmother.

Ye Weiwen's article to the newspaper included his name, but the newspaper wasn't stupid; they knew that if they did that, they would definitely receive a lawyer's letter. So they kept his surname, but changed his given name, and blurred the license plate number of the car in the photo.

This way, people will associate Bai Qiongyu with her, but it won't lead to a lawsuit.

As for whether the matter is true or not?

Does it matter?

It doesn't matter at all!

What their newspaper wants is buzz; as long as there's controversy and sales, that's the most important thing.

Xianglan was sorting through the newly arrived newspapers in the morning, feeling indignant. How could these people talk nonsense and distort the truth?

Bai Qiongyu saw the reward notice but didn't say anything, quietly eating her breakfast.

"Miss, shouldn't we sue them?" Xianglan said. "They've gone too far!"

Bai Qiongyu shook her head and chuckled, saying, "Those people are probably just waiting for us to sue. These tabloids are no big deal. Those who know us understand the situation. As for those who don't, there's no need for us to explain."

"So we're just going to let them run wild like this?" Xianglan was furious; they were being bullied too much.

"Heh, my father once said that grasshoppers in autumn don't last long," Bai Qiongyu said. "These people's madness will only hasten their demise. Do they think public opinion can cause me trouble? What a joke! How naive!"

“Yes, they don’t use their brains when they do things,” Xianglan said. “So, should we just let them do this?”

"Yes, let them continue their unreasonable behavior. They're just clowns," Bai Qiongyu nodded, not caring at all.

She had many things to do and didn't have time to pay attention to it.

Bai Qiongyu ignored it, which at most caused some gossip, but did not affect the family business.
