Chapter 307 Stealing Documents, Safe, Invisible Paint

Director Hua and Chief Engineer Sun were shocked when they heard this!

"Why do you say that?" Director Hua asked hurriedly. Chief Engineer Sun was in charge of research, and since something like this happened, he only needed to bear a small part of the responsibility.

However, he was in charge of security and confidentiality, and if such a lapse occurred and the mastermind is not found, he will probably be dismissed.

Now that I've heard what Huo Yingjie said, perhaps we can find the mastermind. If we're lucky, we might be able to redeem ourselves through meritorious service!

Huo Yingjie took a deep breath and wrote down, "Because what Zhou Yuanchao did was originally my responsibility. But I had important things to do, and after Zhou Yuanchao finished his task ahead of schedule, before I could assign him any tasks, he helped me with that step. If it weren't for helping me, Zhou Yuanchao wouldn't have gotten injured!"

Director Hua nodded and said, "From exchanging materials to experimental procedures, this person is very familiar with your project. It seems our institute is about to face a major test. May I ask, what stage has your project reached?"

"Two-thirds are complete, and now we're doing the final touches," Huo Yingjie said. "This project is extremely important. All three of us know that the sooner it's finished, the sooner it can be put into use. Most of the work that follows is my responsibility. If I die, this project will come to a standstill. Even if someone else were in charge, they wouldn't be able to figure things out in a short time. Even if they figured out the order, only I know how to do the last third."

Huo Yingjie thought about it and felt a chill run down his spine. Those hostile saboteurs would stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

Chief Engineer Sun rubbed his temples and asked, "Director Hua, what should we do now?"

Director Hua said gravely, "Our research institute needs a major overhaul..."

A massive purge?

It sounds incredibly bloody!

However, if they don't conduct a thorough investigation here, even more soldiers will lose their lives!

“I agree.” Chief Engineer Sun nodded. Although he disliked this approach, it was necessary at this time. Otherwise, the entire research institute and all its staff would be implicated, and the projects they were working on would be delayed due to stagnation.

"Then let's begin now," Director Hua said. After such a long period of comfort, it's time to use the old methods again.

Chief Engineer Sun felt a chill run down his spine when he saw Director Hua's enigmatic smile. He reminded him, "This is a research institute, not a labor camp. I believe most of the comrades here are good people. They work hard and are loyal. I hope you can treat them well."

Director Hua smiled and said, "Of course! We won't wrong a good comrade, but we won't let a bad person go unpunished either."

"That would be best," said Chief Engineer Sun. "By the way, when can Comrade Huo resume his work?"

Director Hua thought for a moment and said, "For Comrade Huo's safety, he must remain here. Once we have investigated the matter, we will release Comrade Huo."

“Yes, that would be for the best,” Chief Engineer Sun said. “If those people see that Huo Yingjie is not injured, they might do something even more outrageous.”

Just as Director Hua was about to leave, Huo Yingjie remembered the precautions he had taken and decided to use them against him.

"Director Hua, Chief Engineer Sun, I have a plan that might lure the snake out of its hole," Huo Yingjie said. He couldn't go out now, so all the preparations he had made before would be useless if he didn't reveal them.

Of course, the little tortoise is his secret weapon, and he would never tell anyone.

Even if you tell others, they won't believe you.

"Oh?" Director Hua stopped in his tracks. "What's your idea?"

Chief Engineer Sun sat down again and said, "You're a smart kid. Tell us, let us hear what good ideas you have!"

After carefully organizing his thoughts, Huo Yingjie slowly said, "That person's target is me, but I'm here now and can't conduct experiments. Even if I'm alright, they've already accomplished most of their objective. Now that I've accomplished most of it, we can announce that we've reorganized a team to conduct research according to my ideas and the data I left behind, and completing the mission is just around the corner! In that case, that person will definitely think that their mission is incomplete. To complete the mission, they must do one thing!"

Director Hua and Chief Engineer Sun exchanged a glance, understanding each other perfectly.

"Stealing information," the two men said simultaneously.

“Yes, there’s a complete set of information in the safe,” Huo Yingjie said. “As long as that person tries to steal it, we have a chance to catch them. Even if we don’t catch them on the spot, I can use the equipment to locate them.”

"Good idea." Director Hua nodded; he used to do this kind of shady work.

If he were that person, he would definitely steal the materials.

"By the way, I have a question. Why did you say that even if you couldn't catch that person, you could still use the equipment to find them?" Director Hua asked, as this made him very curious.

Huo Yingjie smiled and said, "I made some special material myself, let's call it invisible paint for now. This stuff is like air; once it's applied to something, it's invisible to the naked eye. You have to use a transfer instrument to detect it. At the time, I felt that the safe was very important, so I applied a layer to the safe. There's this invisible paint on the ground within a meter of the safe. If someone touches my safe, even if they're wearing gloves, there will be some on their shoes. If I can't find that person after doing all that, I really don't know how I'll catch them."

"Invisibility paint?" Chief Engineer Sun's eyes widened. "If it has such a function, can't it be applied to airplanes? Wouldn't that make them stealth aircraft?"

Now it was Huo Yingjie's turn, and Director Hua was dumbfounded.

While they were figuring out how to catch the traitor, Chief Engineer Sun's thoughts jumped to the stealth aircraft.

"Stealth aircraft aren't something you can just make with a little paint!" Huo Yingjie said with a wry smile. "Let's catch the traitor first."

“Yes, Chief Engineer Sun!” Director Hua said, “We’ll talk about other things after this is over!”

Chief Engineer Sun chuckled awkwardly. He was a workaholic! Whenever he encountered work-related information, he would immediately think of weapons research.

This is an occupational hazard, and it's hard to cure!

"Hehe, we'll talk about it later," Chief Engineer Sun said, making a mental note of it.

During my last trip to Beijing for a weapons research conference, some people pointed out that foreign stealth aircraft are already mature and in use. However, China, with its weak technological foundation and limited investment, has made no progress.

Even if this material isn't up to par, painting it on airplanes and using it for missions will still intimidate those people. At worst, we'll use it once and then not again, letting those arrogant superpowers misjudge China's true strength and deterring them from taking any rash actions! (To be continued.)
