Chapter 152: Case Solved (1/2)

Not only Yang Lifen noticed it, but Bai Qingxia noticed it too. She recognized it immediately and said with a smile, "I was just saying, this sweater has been knitted and given to your grandfather, but I haven't seen him wear it since. So it seems the old man gave it to you."

Yang Lifen smiled and said, "Yes, Ziyi even kept telling me how he never saw Grandpa Qi wear the first sweater he knitted, and he wondered if Grandpa Qi didn't like it."

Qi Monan's expression froze slightly, and he turned to look at his grandfather.

The old man clearly said in the letter that this sweater was knitted by Song Yun. Although it was not specially knitted for him, Qi Monan, it was still a sweater knitted by her own hands. He put it on as soon as he picked it up and was reluctant to wash it.

But now they say it was woven by Ziyi.

Mr. Qi was also confused. "Ah? Wasn't this knitted by Miss Yun?"

Bai Qingxia smiled and said, "Xiao Yun gave it to me, and the one Mo Nan is wearing was knitted by Zi Yi. You know what, Zi Yi is a quick learner and can knit well. So I gave it to Song Hao, and Song Hao gave it to you."

The case is solved.

That's what happened.

Old Qi was a little embarrassed and said with a dry smile, "If Ziyi is a fool, there will be no smart kids here."

The few of them started chatting again, and only Qi Mo Nan felt that the sweater on his body no longer smelled good.

Yang Lifen left the west room and ran back to the kitchen, holding back her laughter.

Seeing her trying so hard to hold back her laughter, Song Yun couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? You're holding back your laughter like this, aren't you afraid of getting hurt?"

Yang Lifen could no longer hold it back and burst into laughter. She laughed so hard that she couldn't straighten her back, and it took her a while to stop.

"I'm telling you, this is a good thing."

Yang Lifen recounted in detail what had just happened in the west room, especially Qi Mo Nan's changing expression after he learned that the sweater was not knitted by Song Yun but by Zi Yi. She even imitated it several times, which made Song Yun laugh.

"Okay, what's so funny? Let's get back to work. We'll have to make dinner after we finish this."

Today is the 29th, and tomorrow is New Year's Eve. I originally planned to have a simple meal yesterday evening and have a big New Year's Eve dinner tomorrow, but Qi Mo Nan is coming over today, so the meal can't be too simple.

There was no time to make a stew, so Song Yun took out the bacon and sausages that Gu Lao had prepared for her, washed them in hot water, and cut each into a plate. The bighead carp she had caught earlier was still frozen in the large natural refrigerator in the yard, so she asked Ziyi to catch one and thaw it in warm water.

The bacon was stir-fried with soaked bamboo shoots, which were also brought to her by the old man. A little chili was added to the mixture, and it was very fragrant.

The sausages were fried with green garlic that Song Yun had grown in a wooden basin in the east room. Not to mention how much Yang Lifen, who was lighting the fire, drooled, even Song Yun herself drooled, she was craving it so much. Ever since she brought back sausages and bacon, she had been craving it. She found a way to grow green garlic sprouts in the house. She originally wanted to save them for tomorrow's dinner, but she didn't expect to eat them the next day.

A big bowl of bighead carp with tofu and vermicelli.

I also made a cold dish of shredded radish, a large cabbage with vinegar, and a pot of egg soup. It took two kang tables to set the table. It was even more sumptuous than other people’s New Year’s Eve dinner.

Song Yun sighed, thinking that it would be great if the old man was here too, as she wondered how he was managing alone in Sichuan Province.

Old Qi took out the half bottle of wine left over from last time from the house, and the four men each drank a glass and finished it.

As usual, the women drank the osmanthus rice wine brewed by Aunt Wang, and Ziyi also took a couple of sips.

"Let's just treat today as a celebration of the New Year. Let's cook some dumplings for dinner tomorrow night. Don't make so many dishes. We have a long way to go, so we can't be so extravagant."

Old Qi took a sip of wine and spoke to Song Yun while holding up his chopsticks.

Song Yun agreed and raised her glass. "Come, let's clink glasses and wish you a smoother future."
