It happened that they had just found a water source and brought back two buckets of water. Several people divided the work among themselves, some cleaned the fish, some built the stove and set up the pot, some collected firewood and made a fire, and some ate the rice. They quickly cut a ten-pound sea fish into pieces and cooked it in a big pot.
The taste was so delicious that everyone was drooling after being hungry all night.
The logistics captain said, "Let me try it."
He picked up a piece of fresh fish and put it into his lunch box. He blew on it and put it into his mouth. It tasted more tender than he had imagined. It was different from the river fish and pond fish he usually ate. It had no bones. After taking a bite, he wanted to eat more and couldn't stop.
After swallowing a large piece of fish in a few gulps, the logistics team leader looked at the team members who were staring at him eagerly, cleared his throat, and said, "It tastes good, but I don't know if there are any other problems. How about I try two more pieces and see."
"Go to hell!" one of the team members cursed with a smile. "I don't trust you." He picked up the lunch box and put two pieces in it. "I cleaned this fish. The internal organs are clean as a rock. There's absolutely no way it can be a problem."
The other two thought it made sense, so they picked up their lunch boxes and put the fish in them. They had to eat quickly and then continue to cook the fish. The soldiers who had gone out to explore the terrain would be back soon, and everyone was hungry.
Song Yun and Shao Quan also took their lunch boxes and started eating. Looking at the huge pot, they couldn't eat much before it was gone.
I'm not full yet, there are still plenty of good fish.
Song Yun suggested, "Let's quickly process all the fish before the water gets too hot, otherwise they'll all go bad in the morning."
Logistics Captain Lao Zhang nodded. "That's right. We can't finish all the fish in one meal. We have to find a way to clean them up and store them. Otherwise, it would be a shame if they go bad."
"How do we store it? There's nothing here." someone asked.
Song Yun said, "Let's clean up all the fish first and soak the leftovers in salt water. This way they can be kept for two or three days."
The logistics team leader hesitated. "That's a good idea, but we don't have much salt. And the key is what to pack it in. We only have a few buckets, and even if we use them all, there's still not enough for all these fish."
Song Yun had already thought of a solution.
"We can use sea salt for soaking the fish. When I was out fishing earlier, I found a reef with quite a few snow-covered things on it. I guess it's sea salt. As for Rong Yu, we can dig a big pit, cover it with tarpaulin, and store water. We can soak any leftover fish in it. What do you think?"
Everyone's eyes lit up. This was a brilliant idea.
Lao Zhang made the decision, "Let's do it."
"There's one more thing." Song Yun raised her hand.
Old Zhang was now very friendly to Song Yun, "You tell me, tell me."
"Since you've already found fresh water, why don't we move our camp directly to the fresh water? This way, it will be more convenient to get and use water, and we won't have to run back and forth and waste time and energy."
Old Zhang hesitated, he couldn't make the decision on this matter!
We have to wait for Captain Yan Feng to make the decision.
But what Song Yun said made sense. With so many fish to catch, they had to dig pits to store water, which would require a large amount of fresh water. It was really unreasonable to transport it back and forth in buckets.
After a little thought, Lao Zhang decided to follow Song Yun's advice. Even in the wild, one must be able to adapt to changing circumstances. He believed that Captain Yan would agree with his decision.
Fortunately, there was nothing built on the campsite, only a pile of marching bags and some sundries. Lao Zhang left one person to look after the luggage, and the rest of the people moved the camp with him.
