Chapter 29: Bai Family Heritage (2/2)

Song Yun was naturally happy that someone appreciated her cooking skills, but she didn't talk much. She took out the prepared herbal paste, first washed Mr. Qi's legs with water, then spread the herbal paste evenly on them, and wrapped them with the white cotton cloth strips she had cut last night.

"I'll come again in the evening. If the swelling has gone down, the bone can be straightened in the evening. If not, we'll have to wait until tomorrow," said Song Yun.

Old Qi was so touched that he couldn't express it in words. He was an old man, dirty and smelly, but the little girl not only didn't despise him, but also cleaned his injured leg and applied medicine for him with such meticulous care. However, he had nothing to offer except a dry thank you.

Song Yun couldn't stand the tearful look in the old man's eyes, so she said goodbye and left in a hurry.

Although she didn't have to work in the afternoon, she didn't plan to be idle. Now that she had a stove at home, she could cook some proper meals, but she had no ingredients. She couldn't always let Ziyi eat white porridge and clear soup noodles with her. There were several patients in the cowshed who were also waiting for improved food to recuperate.

After returning to the deserted yard to clean up, she saw that the villagers who were repairing the houses had arrived one after another. She locked the door of the woodshed, took Ziyi out through the back door, and went into the mountains again.

Song Yun's purpose this time was to hunt some game and get some bamboo shoots, so she had no intention of earning star coins.

The two of them didn't have a backpack, so Song Yun brought a cloth bag. Whenever she saw edible wild vegetables, she would stop to pick some. Whenever she saw useful stones, she would pick up some and put them in her pocket, just to save for Ziyi.

The brother and sister unknowingly walked away from the mountainside and into the mountain where the trees were more lush. There were obviously more weeds under their feet, and the road was no longer as obvious as that on the mountainside. It was obvious that few people entered this area.

Fangfang mentioned to her yesterday that there were wolves, wild boars, and blind bears in the mountains, and it was quite dangerous. Everyone only dared to move around on the outskirts. Except for those who had hunting rifles at home, ordinary villagers did not dare to go in.

Therefore, there were more and more wild vegetables in the mountains, and they were fatter and tenderer. The two sisters could hardly pick them all, and soon filled a big bag.

Song Yun found a patch of wild amaranth, and the brother and sister were picking them happily. Suddenly, there was a slight noise in the grass not far away. Song Yun immediately reached into her pocket and took out two stones. When the noise came again, she shook her wrist and the two stones flew out. There were two "bangs" and some struggling sounds, and then she quickly returned to calm.

Song Yun walked towards the bushes and pulled out two fat gray rabbits, each weighing four kilograms.

Song Ziyi looked at the rabbits in surprise. The two rabbits died in surprisingly similar ways. Both were hit on the head by stones and died instantly.

"Sister, you're amazing! You can hit the rabbit so accurately without even seeing it. How come your hands are so long?"

Song Yun smiled and stuffed the two fat rabbits into the cloth bag. "If you practice hard, you can be like your sister in the future." She hasn't yet cultivated her inner energy, otherwise she would have been able to explode the rabbit's head with that blow just now.

With two rabbits, Song Yun stopped hunting for other prey. She had too much to eat and she didn't have a refrigerator or a well, so the food would go bad in a day.

It’s a good idea to pick as many wild vegetables as possible. If you can’t finish them, you can dry them and store them for the winter.

After filling the two cloth bags, the brother and sister headed towards the bamboo forest.

Instead of cutting the sword, Song Yun quietly exchanged a dagger from the Tong Mall.
