Chapter 38 Grandson (1/2)

When Song Yun came out of the cowshed, it was already nine o'clock in the evening. The brother and sister gradually moved away from the cowshed with the flashlight. Just when they were about to reach the steep slope, a dark shadow walked out of the woods next to them. Song Yun was startled and quickly picked up a stone and prepared to take action.

"It's me, Qi Mo Nan."

Song Yun silently took back the stone and shone the flashlight over the wall. Under the strong light, Qi Mo Nan squinted his eyes and put his hand out to block it.

After confirming her identity, Song Yun turned the flashlight away and said without anger: "Are you hiding here on purpose to scare people?"

Qi Monan: .....Do I look like such a boring person?

Qi Mo Nan took two steps towards Song Yun and said, "I'm sorry I scared you. I didn't mean to." He then handed the thing in his hand forward and said, "This is what I hunted in the mountains. Could you please cook it for my grandfather and the others tomorrow?"

Song Yun took the prey, which was quite heavy. She shone the flashlight on it and saw two pheasants and a fat rabbit.

"And this." Qi Mo Nan took out a lunch box, "I picked up some pheasant eggs."

Song Yun gestured to Song Ziyi to take it. Old Qi was his grandfather, and it was his duty as a grandson to show filial piety to his grandfather.

Song Yun noticed the large backpack on Qi Monan's back and asked, "Are you leaving?"

Qi Mo Nan shook his head, "There are still fifteen days of vacation, so I won't leave for now."

Song Yun glared and said, "Why are you carrying the backpack if you're not leaving?" After saying that, she suddenly remembered what Grandpa Qi had just said. He said that Qi Mo'nan had returned to the military region. It seemed that Grandpa Qi didn't know that his grandson didn't actually leave.

"Where are you staying tonight? You're not going to sleep in this woods, are you?"

The weather here is changeable, especially the temperature difference between morning and evening is huge. Even a strong soldier would not be able to bear to stay in the woods for a night where the temperature is only a few degrees at night. He can't even light a fire, as it will easily attract the attention of the villagers at the foot of the mountain, so he can only endure it.

Qi Menan did not deny that he did plan to stay in the woods at night. When he was in the military area, the conditions for field training were sometimes worse than this, but he didn't care.

Seeing that he agreed, Song Yun didn't know what to say, so she just said dryly, "Then be careful." After that, she turned around and left with Ziyi.

After walking a dozen steps, she still couldn't bring herself to do it. She turned back and shouted to Qi Mo Nan who was walking towards the woods, "If you don't mind, I have a place to stay over there. The kang bed isn't made yet, so you might have to sleep on the floor."

Qi Mo Nan paused, he didn't expect that this girl who seemed a little cold would take the initiative to take him in.

"Is it convenient?" he asked, turning around.

There are still fifteen days of vacation left, and he has to stay here for at least ten days. He can't live in the mountains for these ten days, so it would be best if he could live in the village.

"It's convenient. The house I rented is quite big. It's just Ziyi and I. We have a room, but the kang bed isn't ready yet. But it'll only be for the next two days."

Seeing that Song Yun's words were sincere, Qi Mo Nan did not hesitate and agreed generously. He carried his bag and followed the brother and sister down the sunny slope.

Although it was so late that everyone in the village must have gone to bed, Song Yun still took Qi Mo Nan back home through the back door.

Qi Mo Nan didn't expect that the house Song Yun rented was so big, and it was some distance away from the village, but close to Xiangyangpo. To her, it was a perfect residence.

Of course, it is now also the perfect choice of residence for him.

Song Yun asked him if he had dinner, and Qi Mo Nan honestly said no, and then asked her if there was anything to eat at home.

So, in the middle of the night, wisps of smoke rose from the deserted courtyard.

Song Yun didn't make anything complicated. She simply cooked a handful of noodles, put two eggs that Qi Monan picked up himself on top, sprinkled some green onions on it, and poured some sesame oil on it. It tasted extremely delicious.
