Chapter 774: Money Spending (2/2)

Looking at the child's pointed little face and thinking of Qian Shuanzi's fat face when he was eating braised pork, Brigade Commander Zhu felt uncomfortable. He also blamed himself for being too busy at work and not taking care of the family affairs at all, allowing Qian Dahua to do whatever he wanted.

Brigade Commander Zhu fried four eggs in one go, two for him and his grandson, and they ate them with relish.

After eating, I called my eldest son and daughter-in-law and asked them to come and pick up the child early the next morning.

On the other side, Qian Dahua ran to her brother's house. As soon as she entered the door, she smelled the aroma of meat. She swallowed her saliva, thinking that she hadn't eaten meat for several days. "Dashan, what delicious food did you make today?"

Qian Dashan said, "I didn't make anything delicious, just porridge and steamed buns. How can I afford to eat good food?"

Qian Dahua thought it must be the smell of meat from the neighbor's house that had drifted to Dashan's house, so she said, "You can't just eat porridge and steamed buns every day. You have to have some meat from time to time. Don't I give you 40 yuan every month? It's not like you can't afford to eat meat occasionally."

Qian Dashan said, "Well, that money is saved for Shuanzi to marry. You know, the city wives here in Beijing are different from those in our hometown. The betrothal gifts are much higher."

Qian Dahua nodded, "Yeah, I heard that weddings here require a TV now."

Qian Dashan nodded repeatedly, "That's right, a TV costs hundreds of dollars. How can we afford it if we don't save money?" He glanced at Qian Dahua's hands, which were empty, and then looked at her pockets. He smiled and asked, "Sister, why are you here at this hour? Have you had dinner?"

Qian Dahua waved his hand, "Don't mention it," and then he went into the house, "I haven't eaten much yet, let's eat something from your place."

When she entered the main room, the aroma of meat became stronger, but there was only porridge and steamed buns on the table. The porridge was quite thick, much thicker than the one at home.

Qian Dashan noticed that Qian Dahua's face was not very good, so he asked again, "What's wrong? Did you have a fight with your brother-in-law?"

Qian Dahua sat down at the table and saw Shuanzi holding a half-eaten steamed bun without moving. He smiled and asked, "Shuanzi, why don't you eat anymore? Come on, eat."

Shuanzi thought, how can I eat without you? How can I eat the steamed bun without anything else?

Of course, he couldn't say that. He forced a smile on his fat face and said, "I'm full."

My sister-in-law Miao Xiaotian came out of the kitchen and asked with a smile, "Sister, you're here. Did my brother-in-law give you his salary?"

Qian Dahua felt uncomfortable after hearing this, "No, there are still several days."

There was a flash of hope in Miao Xiaotian's eyes, and he thought Qian Dahua was here to give him money.

Qian Dahua noticed that Miao Xiaotian was wearing a short-sleeved shirt and straight-leg trousers made of the black plaid cloth that was popular in Beijing. It was very fashionable. Several military wives in the compound dressed like this, and it was not cheap.

Miao Xiaotian saw Qian Dahua looking at her clothes and turned around with a smile, "Big sister, do you think I look good in this?"

Qian Dahua nodded. "It looks good. How much did it cost?"

Miao Xiaotian was about to speak when Qian Dashan stopped her and said, "Eat first. Why are you talking about this? I'm hungry."

Miao Xiaotian understood her husband's meaning immediately and hurriedly pulled the basket of steamed buns in front of Qian Dahua with a smile, "Sister, have some steamed buns. I made them today. Try them."

Qian Dahua just stretched out her hand, then realized that she hadn't washed her hands, so she stood up and said, "I'll wash my hands."

The water was in the kitchen. Qian Dahua was familiar with the place. She used a ladle to scoop water to wash her hands. When washing her hands, she always smelled a strong meaty aroma, as if it was coming from the ladle in the kitchen cabinet.
