Yang Lifen said, "The last time I sent the sweaters I knitted for my parents home, the package got lost. I've knitted them two more. Plus, I've been saving some mountain goods lately, so I'd appreciate it if you could bring some back with you."
Song Yun agreed immediately. It just so happened that she brought so many good things from Gangcheng, and she would send some to Aunt Zhang's house.
"Oh, Dad, Mom, I went to Zhengde Street last time. Ziyi said that No. 8 Zhengde Street is our house, so I went to take a look."
Bai Qingxia, "Did you find out that someone else is living here?"
Song Yun nodded, "Yes, Mom, do you know?"
Bai Qingxia curled the corners of her lips, glanced at Song Hao, and said nothing.
Song Hao's old face flushed red and he was too embarrassed to speak.
"What's wrong?" Song Yun noticed something was wrong and asked quickly.
In the end, it was Song Hao who spoke up, "If my guess is correct, the family that occupied our house should be my cousin's family."
From Song Hao's narration, Song Yun got a story that was ridiculous, absurd and sad, but very normal in this era.
Song Hao has no biological brothers, only an older sister who married far away. His family conditions can only be considered a very ordinary working-class family in Beijing. His cousins are similar, all of them are children of factory employees, and they all grew up in the staff family compound.
But Song Hao gradually became extraordinary. He was very smart and good at studying. He soon distanced himself from his cousins, became a college student, became a university teacher, and even married the daughter of a wealthy family.
While his cousins were still fighting over a small wedding house, he not only had spacious staff quarters, but also a courtyard house. This courtyard house had more than a dozen rooms, where his family of four lived, and they only stayed there for a day or two occasionally.
This was Song Hao's creation. No matter how jealous his cousins were, it was useless. They could only watch. When they met each other rarely, they could only say a few sarcastic words and could not do anything.
But the world changes at any time.
One of Song Hao's cousins got into the Revolutionary Committee by reporting others and even became a small leader. He was very arrogant, and Song Hao became a stepping stone for him to climb up.
Bai Qingxia's courtyard house was also occupied by that family.
Song Hao was ashamed. "Everyone thinks it was your mother who got me into trouble, but it was actually me who got your mother into trouble. If it weren't for me, your mother probably wouldn't have to suffer this."
Bai Qingxia shook her head. "You can't say that. If your cousin wasn't there, there would be someone else. The Bai family used to be very famous in Beijing. Many people know me. They won't let me, this piece of fat meat, go."
Song Yun asked, "Besides the house, what else did they take from you?"
Song Hao said, "It's the things at home."
Song Yun looked at Bai Qingxia, who blinked at her without saying anything.
Song Yun turned pale.
It seems that my mother is not as simple as I imagined. At least she knows how to hide things. There must be some family property left by my grandfather that was hidden by my mother, and even my father doesn't know about it.
Song Yun smiled and said, "It's okay. Let them stay here for now. When we return to Kyoto, we'll have plenty of ways to get them out. We'll also have to make them return everything they looted from our house."
If this had been said before, Song Hao and Bai Qingxia might not have believed it, after all, it was the Revolutionary Committee.
