Qiao Yu walked out of the alley and went to the supply and marketing cooperative.
She heard that winters in Heilongjiang Province were quite cold, so she bought two thick quilts.
She had blankets in her room, but the patterns and designs weren't really suitable for this era.
I bought a few more pieces of fabric, intending to make myself some new clothes.
I also bought some milk powder, malted milk powder, milk candy, etc., so that I can share them with any children I meet there.
After leaving the supply and marketing cooperative, she went back to the old house.
After my grandparents passed away, no one lived here anymore. Now the house is empty, and it gives people a strange feeling of coldness.
Qiao Yu looked around, bowed to the house, and said, "Grandpa, Grandma, I'm leaving now. I'll only be able to pay my respects to you from afar from now on."
Seeing that it was almost lunchtime, she went back to the house of Qiao Dehan and his wife.
When I opened the door and went inside, Qiao Dehan was cooking!
He called to her gently, "Xiaoyu, come and eat, Daddy has prepared the food."
Qiao Yu raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Old Qiao, you can cook too?"
Qiao Yu recalled what the book said about Qiao Dehan's mistress being very good at manipulating men, and how she had managed to turn Qiao Dehan, a chauvinistic man, into someone who could cook.
J.D. Han frowned. "What did you call me?"
Ever since she learned that he was not her biological father, Qiao Yu has refused to call him "Dad," since she has never experienced his fatherly love over the years.
"What's wrong, Old Joe? You're not satisfied?"
The words of anger that Qiao Dehan wanted to utter were swallowed back down.
Qiao Yu thought to herself, "Then what he's after is probably much bigger."
"No, no, I wouldn't dare to be dissatisfied. Let's eat."
Qiao Yu looked around and asked, "Hey, where are your cheap wife and biological daughter?"
She emphasized the word "biological child," which made Qiao Dehan feel strange. How come Qiao Yu seemed not to care at all whether he was her biological child or not?
"Your mother took Mingming to your maternal grandfather's house for dinner."
"Oh, so she went back to her parents' home. It seems your daughter is closer to the Song family."
Qiao Dehan gritted his teeth. If it weren't for coaxing Qiao Yu, he wouldn't have let his daughter go back to the Song family with Song Zhenyun.
That family was all rotten; he had always looked down on them.
"No, it's just that your maternal grandparents also want to see their granddaughter."
Qiao Yu disagreed. The Song family hadn't taken much care of them over the years. It was as if marrying their daughter to Qiao Dehan was a humiliation for the sake of the family, and the two siblings were the result of that humiliation. They didn't want to see them at all.
Song Zhenyun probably felt that she finally had an obedient daughter, so she deliberately brought her close to her parents' home, wanting to embarrass Qiao Yu.
If she were someone who craved maternal love, she would indeed break down.
Unfortunately, Qiao Yu had been taught and cared for by her grandparents since childhood, and was never a pitiful creature lacking love.
"Fine, your wife can go wherever she wants, it's none of my business."
"Hey, don't worry about your mom, you still have your dad."
Qiao Yu was so disgusted by him that she almost threw up. "Alright, are you going to eat or not?"
"Eat, eat, eat. Try Dad's cooking."
If there's food to eat, Qiao Yu won't refuse.
Surprisingly, Qiao Dehan's cooking skills are quite good; the dishes he made were delicious.
Qiao Yu didn't talk to him and focused on eating.
After having a hearty meal, they stood up and prepared to leave.
"Wait a minute, Xiaoyu, Daddy has something to tell you."
Finally, he arrived, and Qiao Yu was waiting for him to say what he was about to say.
"Xiaoyu, look, you're not our biological daughter anymore. Shouldn't we take out the things your grandparents left you and redistribute them, and give some to Mingming?"
Qiao Yu rolled her eyes inwardly. He wasn't doing it for Qiao Mingming at all. He just thought that his son outside deserved what his parents had.
"Oh? Things from your grandparents? Didn't they give you, their own son? No way, no way, they didn't even give you anything?"
Grandpa Qiao had long since given up on his son, Qiao Dehan, so he really didn't leave him anything before he passed away.
Qiao Dehan's face turned pale and then red. "Don't say so much. Just tell me where your grandparents' things are. I'm not taking them all, but you have to give some to Mingming. After all, they are her grandparents too."
Qiao Yu is a very possessive person, and she got angry when she heard that her grandparents wanted to give some more to Qiao Mingming.
Her anger resulted in her flipping the table, smashing all the dishes on it.
"Whose grandparents are you talking about?"
Seeing her clenched fists, Qiao Dehan, afraid of being hit by her, said, "Yours are your grandparents, don't be angry, don't be angry."
Qiao Yu crossed her arms. "Hmph, you coward. But since you've said that, I'll tell you where it is. Come with me."
She beckoned to George H.W. as if she were teasing a dog.
George followed her into the yard, where she stomped her foot on the ground.
"Here, dig it up."
When Qiao Dehan saw that she had honestly told him the location, his eyes lit up like a dog seeing a bone, and he picked up a shovel and started digging.
After digging a few times, they came across the entrance to a cellar. Upon opening it, they found several large boxes inside.
Qiao Yu's voice rang in my ears, "That's all, you can divide it if you want."
To appear less eager, J.J. said, "We'll talk about it later. I won't take it now."
He planned to take everything away when he had the chance, leaving at most a little for Qiao Feng, but Qiao Yu and Qiao Mingming could forget about it.
Qiao Yu wasn't afraid of his schemes; she quickly took everything away anyway.
"Oh, then fill the hole back in."
