Chapter 50 Li Dahui Opens the Door to a New World

"What did I bring today?" He rubbed his hands together, feeling like he was about to make a big profit again.

Just as Li Dahui was about to open it, he heard a commotion outside.

The bearded man ignored them and jumped up to run outside.

"Hurry up, the red armband wearers are here."

In his haste, Lin Yu picked up two sacks and ran.

Li Dahui followed behind her, trying to get her to put one down.

Who knew that Lin Yu didn't have time to stop and ran desperately, and soon even Li Dahui couldn't keep up with her.

Running to a secluded corner, Lin Yu quickly stored both sacks into her spatial storage.

He breathed a sigh of relief and ran out to find Li Dahui.

Li Dahui was relieved to see that Lin Yu was safe and sound.

He didn't ask where the two bags of prey were; at this point, as long as everyone was safe, that was all that mattered.

Sure enough, the staff member wearing a red armband arrived and came over to ask them questions when they saw the two of them standing there.

Seeing that they were dressed in rags and had nothing with them, he assumed they were just passersby and didn't bother them any further.

Once everything had calmed down, Lin Yu leaned against the wall, relieved to have escaped death: "Uncle Da Hui, that was too dangerous. If I had been caught, I would have been finished."

When reading novels, I only thought that the protagonist was very capable of making money by buying and selling things on the black market.

In reality, this kind of thing is illegal, and if you get caught, you really won't be able to defend yourself.

Li Dahui has been able to stay here for so long, probably due to a bit of luck, plus he's fast enough.

But Lin Yu felt that this was something she couldn't do. If she were to act as a butterfly flapping its wings, and a powerful figure were to perish here, things would become very difficult.

Li Dahui nodded: "Yes, that was dangerous. Be careful next time."

"There won't be a next time, Uncle Dahui, you'd better not come here again."

"What about the prey?"

Lin Yu rolled her eyes. "Let's go, let's take the things with us."

She turned into a corner and carried both sacks out.

Li Dahui thought she had probably lost it in her haste, but he was pleasantly surprised to find it still there.

"Xiaoyu, you're great."

Lin Yu raised her chin, looking very proud.

Who told us we have a spatial ability? That's one of the perks of time travel!

After they went outside, Lin Yu took Li Dahui to the street.

I stopped a kind-looking old lady and said, "Hello, ma'am. My uncle and I are visiting relatives in the county town, but we've lost our address. We'd like to ask you for directions."

The old woman felt sorry for her because she was young and her uncle didn't speak, as if he were mute.

She said to her, "Child, where are you going? Let me help you think of a way."

Lin Yu then said, "My relative lives in a staff housing compound belonging to some kind of organization, but I don't remember what organization it is. What should we do?"

The old woman said confidently, "If we're talking about company-affiliated residential compounds, there are only a few in our county, and they're not far apart. One is the grain bureau's compound, another is the tobacco bureau's, and the last one is the machinery factory's compound."

The county town wasn't big; there were only these three large family compoundes. So Lin Yu thanked the old lady and took Li Dahui there.

Li Dahui didn't know why she asked about the family compound, but he didn't say much and just followed her.

Upon arriving at the grain bureau's residential compound, Lin Yu grabbed a woman who looked like a housewife and asked, "Sister, my uncle and I are here to visit relatives. Do you know someone named Li Dahua?"

The older woman shook her head and said she didn't know him. Just as she was about to leave, she heard Lin Yu say, "Sigh, my cousin Da Hua just had a baby. My uncle and I brought her some pork to help her recover. What are we going to do if we can't find her?"

The older woman's eyes lit up immediately: "Oh, little sister, if you can't find your cousin, why don't you trade the pork to me? My child needs some nourishment too."

Lin Yu shook her head and said righteously, "Big sister, this won't do. Our family has been poor farmers for three generations. We don't do anything speculative or profiteering."

The older sister grabbed Lin Yu and said with a smile, "You can't say that. You're supporting us workers. We workers and peasants are one family."

Lin Yu reluctantly replied, "Alright, sister, I'm just supporting our workers and helping them improve their health, not engaging in speculation."

The older woman said happily, "Oh, that's it. Come and sit with me at home."

So Lin Yu and Li Dahui followed the woman into the family compound of the grain bureau.

The grain bureau is arguably the most desirable workplace these days. Which person working there doesn't come from a well-off family?

That's why Lin Yu came here immediately, because she knew that the families here could afford to pay.

The neighbors were curious when they saw the three of them: "Suqin, who are these two people?"

Those older women have sharp eyes; they could tell at a glance that these two were unfamiliar faces.

Sister Suqin said with a smile, "These are distant relatives from my hometown who came to visit me."

"Oh, I see. Well then, let's treat them well."

"Okay, I got it."

After dealing with the kind neighbors, Sister Suqin took the two of them home.

The family compound of the Grain Bureau consisted of tenement buildings, and Sister Suqin's home had a two-bedroom, one-living-room layout.

It looks like there's a lot of space, but there's a lot of stuff, so I guess quite a few people live there.

Lin Yu opened the sack and showed it to her: "Big sister, we have a deer and two wild boars here, they've all been processed. How many do you want?"

Just in case, Li Dahui also brought a scale, which came in handy.

Sister Suqin had already guessed that the two people were either visiting relatives or selling things.
