Chapter 9: Arguing with Wang Zhaodi at the Dinner Table

Grandma Lin specially killed a chicken, made chicken soup, and cut a piece of cured meat to stir-fry because her granddaughter was coming back.

The family sat down to eat, and Grandma Lin served Qiao Yu soup, saying, "Xiao Yu, you've traveled such a long way to get here, you must be tired. Drink some soup to nourish yourself."

Qiao Yu quickly took the bowl of chicken soup, saying, "Thank you, Grandma. You should eat too."

Lin Laosan also picked up a piece of cured meat for his daughter, saying, "Daughter, eat quickly."

Qiao Yu smiled broadly, "Thank you, Dad."

Second Aunt Wang Zhaodi looked at the harmonious scene and pouted, "Tch, another freeloader."

Qiao Yu's smile vanished as she looked at her. Before she could even explode, she heard her own father's sarcastic remarks.

"Who is Second Sister-in-law talking about? Stop whispering and explain clearly."

"We don't have anyone who eats for free in our family. We're all family, it's not like we're giving our own things to some ungrateful brother."

He rolled his eyes as he spoke, "Girl, hurry up and eat, don't pay attention to those idiots."

Wang Zhaodi slammed her chopsticks down in anger, "You!"

Shen Zhinian's gentle voice rang out, "Second sister-in-law, Xiaoyu hasn't lived at home for over ten years and hasn't eaten a single grain of rice from you. I don't think it's appropriate for you to say that. What do you think?"

"Your whole family are just freeloaders. Lin Laosan is lazy and doesn't work all day, and now a young woman has come along. Tell me, aren't you all just freeloaders?"

Lin Laosan looked at his eldest brother Lin Aiguo with a wronged expression, "Brother, look at her, she said that our family is eating for free, we are eating your food, not hers."

Lin Aiguo's expression was also unpleasant. Lin Laosan was much younger than him, and he had raised him as a son. In Lin Aiguo's heart, Lin Laosan held a higher position than his own son, Lin Shan.

"Second brother's wife, if you really dislike our third brother, you can separate your whole family."

Wang Zhaodi was stunned and dared not speak. The boss was the captain!

Moreover, all of them are able-bodied men in the family.

In their second wife's household, only Wang Jianguo and she are capable of working. It wouldn't be worth it if they separated.

"Big brother, oh dear, I was wrong. I was just venting. We're all family, we're not going to separate, we're not going to separate."

Seeing her cowardly appearance, Lin Laosan felt very disgusted.

This second sister-in-law is incredibly stupid. She uses her own things to subsidize her family every day, and she's also sexist. If it weren't for her mother keeping an eye on things, her two nieces might not even be called Pandi or Yindi.

Foolish as they may be, they still know that splitting up the family is no good. They just love to make themselves uncomfortable. I don't know if they're just born to be scolded.

The children were already used to it; the eldest and second eldest girls were eating their rice, and they didn't want to separate from the family.

If the family splits up, all of their second wife's belongings will probably go to her uncle's house.

After watching for a while, Qiao Yu also figured out the personalities of this family.

Lin Aiguo, her eldest uncle, was the patriarch of the family and his word was law. He doted on her father, Lin Shengli.

My second uncle was completely invisible. Whether my second aunt was being foolish or my eldest uncle was giving him a lecture, he was only concerned with eating.

My second aunt is the epitome of a brother-supporting demon, and she's also petty.

Her father, Lin Laosan, was a reckless scoundrel, but she felt that although her grandmother, uncle, and aunt scolded him, they actually loved him the most and couldn't bear to separate him from the family.

After finishing her meal, Qiao Yu went to play with the other children.

The eldest in their generation is Lin Shan. He has a personality similar to his uncle, being rather serious. However, he is very gentle with Qiao Yu and tells her that she can ask her older brother for help with anything in the future.

Second brother Lin Yuan, Qiao Yu gets along best with him. He has a rather outgoing personality and is very enthusiastic towards Qiao Yu.

Strangely enough, all of Uncle's children are younger than Qiao Yu. The eldest daughter is 16 years old, the second daughter is 10 years old, and the youngest son is only 4 years old.

Da Niu wasn't very talkative. After finishing her meal, she would sit there sewing. She was the eldest sister in the second wife's household, and her younger siblings listened to her quite well.

Erniu is very lively. She and Lin Yi are both in elementary school and have to go to school soon after finishing their meal.

Lin Yi and Er Niu sat next to Qiao Yu, looking at her with some curiosity. "Sister, where are you from?"

"I'm from Haicheng."

Lin Yi and Er Niu, the two eager learners, asked again, "Where is Haicheng?"

Qiao Yu thought for a moment and drew a map of China on the ground. "This is our place, Shanxi Province. This is Haicheng. It's about several thousand kilometers away. It took me a whole day to get here by train."

"Wow, that's so far, sister. Is the original sister still in Haicheng?"

Qiao Yu nodded. "Yes, Qiao Mingming is living in Haicheng. Do you miss her?"

Lin Yi said indifferently, "I don't miss her. She never liked me. She only liked to go and play with the educated youth."

Qiao Yu recalled the book about Qiao Mingming's previous life, in which she insisted on marrying an educated youth, only to be abandoned and die of depression.

Lin Yi pouted, "She said she didn't want to live in the countryside, she wanted to live in the city and be a city dweller. She also said we're all peasants."

Qiao Yu smiled and patted his head. "If she wants to go to the city, she can go. I just like coming to our village. Xiao Yi, next time you have a holiday, take your sister to play in the village."

Lin Yi's eyes lit up with joy. His sister said she liked the village. "Okay, sister, then wait for me!"

After they finished speaking, Lin Erniu looked at the ground and asked, "Third sister, what did you draw?"

"Oh, this is a map. This is a map of our country that I drew. You will learn about it in your geography class later."

Lin Erniu was a very inquisitive child. "Can you teach me, sister?"

Qiao Yu patted her on the shoulder, "No problem."

Lin Laosan looked at the map on the ground, his eyes flickering slightly, lost in thought.
