There was no fear in her clear eyes, only confusion and impatience at being interrupted from her studies. She looked at the two strangers at the door, then at Wang Xiufen, her brows furrowed tightly.
"Comrade Mingzhao, please cooperate with us and come with us for an investigation." The head security officer spoke in a flat voice, with a businesslike indifference, and reached out to grab Mingzhao's arm.
"stop!"
A thunderous roar exploded forth!
The jeep screeched to a halt outside the yard, the door not even fully closed, and Howard's tall figure burst in like a cannonball!
He took a step forward and stood in front of Mingzhao, using his broad back to firmly protect her behind him, like the strongest shield!
The cold gaze swept over the letter of complaint, finally settling on Wang Xiufen's face. That look made Wang Xiufen's smug smile freeze instantly, and a chill ran down her spine!
What are you trying to do?
Howard's voice wasn't loud, but it carried immense weight, making it hard to breathe: "Who gave you the right to come to my house and arrest people?"
Then he looked at Mingzhao, anxiously grasped her shoulders, his large hands enveloping Mingzhao's thin shoulder blades, and looked her left and right.
"Are you alright? They didn't do anything to you, did they?"
The head security officer was intimidated by Howard's imposing manner and subconsciously took a half step back, but then straightened his back again when he thought of the "evidence" in his hand.
"Commander Huo, we are acting under orders! We received a formal complaint from Comrade Wang Xiufen, who accused your wife, Comrade Mingzhao, of behaving strangely, drawing unidentified symbols and patterns in the house, suspected of engaging in espionage or feudal superstitious activities! This is the original complaint letter! We must take her back for further investigation!"
As he spoke, he waved the letter in his hand.
