Chapter 1 Shuisheng Brother-in-law

In the VIP ward, the smell of disinfectant is very strong.

Jiang Zao's hair is gray and her breathing is weak. She often cried when she was young and worked hard. Her eyesight has been poor since she was over 50. She can barely see the man sitting beside the bed. She hasn't seen him for more than 30 years, but he is still as tall and reliable as pine or cypress.

Jiang Zao tried hard to see his face, but couldn't see it clearly.

"...water...life."

She held out her hand tremblingly.

Xiao Shuisheng held Jiang Zao's hand. His hand was big and dry.

The man's voice was as deep as ever: "I'm here."

Jiang Zao knew she was about to die. Turbid tears slid down the corners of her eyes, and her nose felt sore: "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have doubted your innocence back then."

If you ask her what regrets she has in her life.

There are two things.

First, she shouldn't have let her cousin Jiang Shan deliver food to Xiao Shuisheng on her behalf.

Jiang Shan put aphrodisiac in the food, causing Xiao Shuisheng to lose his composure. He tried hard to restrain himself and did not touch Jiang Shan, but she and Xiao Shuisheng had a misunderstanding and angrily broke off the engagement, missing out on thirty years.

Secondly, Jiang Shan should not have been allowed to steal the jade pendant left to her by her grandmother. The jade pendant is spiritual and brings good fortune to the wearer.

Jiang Shan stole the jade pendant, and although she failed to marry Xiao Shuisheng as she wished, she was able to engage in speculation and profiteering many times without being caught. She saved up enough money to open a snack shop, met the first generation of real estate tycoons, and became very successful.

After marriage, she gave birth to four sons and was spoiled by her in-laws.

The man's sobbing sounded in my ears.

The man begged, "Zao'er... please don't die."

Who is Xiao Shuisheng?

A man who bleeds but does not cry has a body of steel.

Jiang Zao only saw him cry twice.

Once when breaking off an engagement.

Right before my eyes.

Jiang Zao felt as if there was a big hole in her heart, and she frowned in pain.

She was unwilling to accept this. Why could Jiang Shan ruin her marriage but still live so well with the help of stolen luck?

Why had she and Xiao Shuisheng been separated for thirty years, depressed for thirty years, and only met each other until their death!

Jiang Zao wanted to tell him not to cry, but when the words came to her lips, her throat suddenly choked.

Her eyes widened and she stopped breathing.

Die with eyes open!

"Zao'er!"

Hearing is the last thing to disappear after death, and the last thing Jiang Zao heard was Xiao Shuisheng’s heart-wrenching cry.

"Xiao Shuisheng!"

Jiang Zao sat up suddenly as if he had a nightmare.

The knotted quilt slipped off her body and she raised her hand to wipe the sweat off her face.

"Zao'er, drink the ginger soup as soon as you wake up. When Xiao Shanzi brings the lunch box back later, clean it and take some of the warm rice and potato chips from the pot and send them to your second brother. He hasn't eaten yet at the factory."

The woman's voice was mixed with the clattering sound of the sewing machine.

Jiang Zao rubbed his eyes and his blurred vision became clear.

The pale ward became her old house in the alley.

The low door lintel, the yellowed walls, and the door curtain made of straw beads swayed gently in the wind.

There was a cart in the small yard outside, with stones and sand on it. The rotten apricots fell into the sand, attracting flies to fly around.

The only new thing in the house is the sewing machine at the door.

Her elder sister had just gotten engaged, and the sewing machine was the betrothal gift from the man.

The sewing machine was earned by the eldest sister, but she could not take it away. It had to be left as a dowry for the remaining male members of the family.

Her mother, Liu Chunhua, was wearing a dark blue shirt. She was afraid of getting her clothes dirty while doing housework, so she wore gray sleeves. Her shoulder-length hair was parted in the middle, with black hairpins on both sides. Her feet kept moving, making the sewing machine wheels squeak.

The black thread pressed through the gray cloth, and it looked like a men's cloth shirt.

"Zao'er?"

"What's wrong? Is your head still hurting?"

Liu Chunhua quickly looked back, continued to operate the sewing machine, and took the time to ask.

Jiang Zao gradually woke up and an incredible idea came to his mind.

She...she was reborn!

"Mom, what did you just say?"

Liu Chunhua repeated her words.

When Jiang Zao heard Jiang Shan bringing food to Xiao Shuisheng, and when she brought the lunch box back and asked her to take the food to her second brother Xiao Ming, she suddenly woke up.

"no!"

Oh no!

How come she was reborn on the day when Jiang Shan delivered food to Xiao Shuisheng?

In his previous life, Xiao Shuisheng refused to marry Jiang Shan, and his reputation was ruined!

He should have had a bright future, but because of this incident, he not only lost his wife but also his future.

Jiang Zao lifted the quilt: "I'm going to find Xiao Shuisheng."

Seeing her running away in a hurry, Liu Chunhua sighed and said, "This child, why is she so startled and weird?"

Jiang Zao ran to the door and put on his shoes.

Xiao Shuisheng was a senior researcher at the institute at a young age. In an era when a junior high school education was enough for everyone, he had a professor-level degree, and even the elderly with gray hair had to call him Professor Xiao.

It takes an hour to get from Jiang's house to the research institute, and Jiang Shan took the bus.

There were very few bus services in the 1970s, but there are none now.

She turned a corner and ran to the first house at the entrance of the alley. She knocked on the door and entered the yard. Her friend Yanqiu was sitting by the well, washing clothes. "Zao'er, what are you doing in such a hurry? Your head is covered in sweat."

Jiang Zao didn't have time to look at his friend, he saw the 28-inch bicycle at the door and said: "Yanqiu, can you lend me your bicycle?"

Yanqiu had never seen the honest Jiang Zao so anxious before. If he was anxious, it must be because of something urgent.

"You can ride it away. It's just inflated."

Jiang Zao let out a sigh, pushed her bicycle to the entrance of the alley, got on and pedaled away, her two long braids swinging in the air.

She pedaled for forty minutes and finally arrived at the suburbs.

People here are very familiar with her and often joke with her, calling her the future professor's wife.

"Hey, the professor's wife is here again!"

Jiang Zao asked hurriedly: "Where is Xiao Shuisheng?"

The other party did not forget to make a joke when answering: "Back to the dormitory, why are you in such a hurry? If someone didn't know, they would think you were here to catch someone having an affair."

Jiang Zao sneered in his heart.

You guessed half of it right.

But what we can’t catch is not the adulterer, but the bitch.

She rushed to the dormitory.

Xiao Shuisheng's dormitory was on the second floor, and she ran up the iron stairs.

As soon as she stepped onto the top step, she heard a woman moaning.

"Brother Shuisheng, let me be your antidote!"
