Chapter 32: Peeing and being stupid

Leaving her a dollar seemed like a gift.

Jiang Zao stood at the door without saying a word.

Liu Chunhua is not in a hurry.

All the children are like this. Jiang Ming didn't want to hand over his first month's salary.

"Zao'er, I know you're not happy about it. I've worked so hard for a month and I've paid you all the money. It's not in vain."

After Liu Chunhua cut the beans, she placed them on a flat, curved winnowing basket. The green bean shreds were piled together, bright in color. She moved her rough, calloused hands away from them.

"You have to consider the difficulties our family went through. When your father and I gave birth to you, we had to buy clothes, food, cloth, and medical expenses."

"I remember one month, the medical expenses were more than ten yuan."

"Besides these, there's the extra two yuan per month for firewood and charcoal in the fall and winter, fifty cents per month for fertilizer for the vegetable garden in the spring and summer, soybeans, meat, and cloth. One year, on your birthday, you insisted on having vegetable noodle soup. I spent fifteen cents to make it for you, but you drank it until your face was covered in oil and your mouth was dirty. You said that only mother was the best in the world and that mother cared about you the most."

As Liu Chunhua spoke, she moved herself.

Jiang Zao has been good-looking since he was a child, with a fair and tender face, a red mouth, and big eyes like grapes.

The word "mother" sounded especially sweet when it came out of her mouth.

In the blink of an eye, the children have grown up and can earn money to support the family.

Liu Chunhua sighed, lamenting that the years had passed, transforming her from a woman who knew nothing into a mother who managed the household and raised four children.

"Your parents have raised you for more than 20 years, so it's only right that you pay them a salary to support them for a few months. Once you get married, your money will have nothing to do with your family anymore."

"Be good and give the money to me. When you get married, I'll give you twenty yuan as a gift."

Jiang Zao was silent for a moment and then sneered.

She couldn't taste the meat when they bought meat at home, and could only eat leftovers when they bought vegetables. It was cold in winter, and the charcoal stove burned the brightest in Jiang Ming and Jiang Jun's house. When she was a child, she was so cold that she stayed in Jiang Ming's house at night, squatting on the ground to keep warm, and was then thrown out by Jiang Ming by the collar of her clothes.

The family spends 10 yuan a month on medical expenses to treat Jiang Ming's cold.

She also remembered eating vegetable noodle soup on her birthday. Her grandmother was still alive and she went to see her grandmother. Her grandmother bought her a hairpin. Jiang Xing liked it and kept asking for it. After two days of arguing, the hairpin became Jiang Xing's. In order to appease her, Liu Chunhua cooked a bowl of vegetable noodle soup for her on her birthday.

Jiang Zao remembered it, but didn't say it.

What’s the point of saying it?

Are you going to exchange your grievances for a little bit of cheap maternal love?

Jiang Zao was disdainful.

"I remember everything."

"But I still can't give you the money."

Liu Chunhua tried to persuade him, but she still couldn't give her the money. She was too lazy to pretend, and she wanted to spit Jiang Zao at the wall: "Why are you so angry? I raised you once, and now you don't pay me?"

"Don't even think you can fly away once your wings are strong enough, you little bastard. I'm telling you, it's impossible."

Jiang Zao signaled her to be quiet, she closed the gate, walked to Liu Chunhua, took her scissors, picked up a string bean and slowly cut it into shreds.

“I want to work for my younger brother and seek benefits for my family, but the premise is that the Xiao family is satisfied with me.”

"Jiang Shan found Xiao Mingsheng as her partner. Wouldn't she say behind my back that my family is waiting to take advantage of my betrothal gift?"

Jiang Zao spoke slowly and analyzed rationally.

Liu Chunhua knew that those who wanted to accomplish great things should not act on impulse, so she listened to Jiang Zao's words, savored their meaning, and waited for Jiang Zao's next words.

Jiang Zao cut a few beans and threw them into the dustpan: "The Xiao family has a wide network of contacts. They can find out about me if they ask around. If you leave your salary with me first, there's no need to explain. The Xiao family also knows that mother is actually the fairest person."

"When Xiao Shuisheng and I discuss marriage, I'll add a stipend: I'll give you five dollars a month. In the long run, it will be more than what you have now."

When the time comes, it will be up to her to decide whether to give or keep the salary.

Jiang Zao lowered his eyelashes and was very well behaved without any temper.

What the third brother said sounded reasonable, but Liu Chunhua didn't believe it.

No one can say for sure if it's just empty talk. It's good if the third child can be the head of the family after marriage. But if he can't be the head of the family, all five dollars will be wasted.

Liu Chunhua couldn't make up her mind for a moment.

Jiang Zao put down the scissors, took out a can of snowflake cream from his army green pocket, unscrewed it, scooped out a piece, rubbed it in the palm of his hand, and gently covered it on the back of Liu Chunhua's rough hand.

There was a cut on the back of his hand, and the snowflake cream stung slightly when he applied it. Liu Chunhua looked down and saw the snowflake cream's forehead jump. "Prodigal son, why did you buy this stuff to clean it for me?"

Jiang Zao said distressedly: "I gave you the money, but you were thinking about this and that, and refused to think about yourself."

"When I have money in my pocket, the first thing I will think of is my mother."

"Mom...you've worked hard."

Even the heart made of stone was warmed by ginger and dates.

Jiang Zao perfectly grasped the fatigue of middle-aged women who had worked hard for half their lives and the pain points of not being paid attention to or cared about by others, and hit the mark with one stroke.

When the child gets his salary, he thinks about buying her cold cream. How can she not think about the family after she gets married?

Even if you don't think about your family, you should think about her.

The third brother can eat Xiao Shui alive with this face. The snowflake cream on Liu Chunhua's hands slowly moisturizes her dry skin. Enjoying the filial piety of her daughter, she becomes bolder.

She has a good chance of winning against the third brother.

"Okay, I believe you. Don't lie to me, Third Brother. You can keep the salary."

This is exactly what Jiang Zao was waiting for.

They are all children of the Jiang family. Jiang Mingyueyue has to hand over her salary, but Jiang Zao doesn’t have to. Is this fair?

Jiang Ming gritted his teeth, his knuckles turning white from pinching, his wheat-colored skin flushed red with anger: "There has to be a reason for being partial!"

"The fourth child is a man, so I won't say anything. The third child is an insignificant woman. Why shouldn't she hand over her salary? If you insist on doing this, I won't hand it over in the future."

threaten?

When Liu Chunhua made the decision, she had already prepared words to scold Jiang Ming.

It was dark, with no lights on. The door to the old house swung open, and Liu Chunhua stood inside, cursing, "You've grown up! If you have the guts, find yourself a wife! Don't touch anything with the sewing machine money. Take your 30-odd salary and go rent a house somewhere else!"

"Every month I earn my salary to rent a house, marry a wife and raise children, buy oil, meat, rice and noodles, empty my own urine bucket, and change the diaper ring yourself when the child cries!"

"It's only because you're my son that I didn't ask for my job back. Jiang Ming, have you forgotten? I was the one who transferred your job to you."

"The Xiao family gave you the job, Third Brother. If you're capable, ask your Liu Cui to find you a job. You've already caused so much trouble at home before you even married in. Instead of yelling at the top of your lungs, you should think about how to sober up your Liu Cui."

Liu Chunhua scolded Jiang Ming so hard that he was dumbfounded, but she didn't even frown.

She spat on the ground: "You use my work to earn money and you still dare to yell at me, your brain seems to have gone crazy."
