Chapter 4: Sisters-in-law quarrel

My younger brother is the flesh on the back of my hand, but my son is the apple of my eye.

Feng Miao snorted coldly and pulled Jiang Dahe to his feet. "You're just an idiot. Can't you see that your elder brother and sister-in-law think you're useless and don't want to care about you anymore? Why are you still embarrassing yourself here? Come back with me and find someone to rescue Shanshan. Do you really think that my Feng family is empty and you guys are stepping on my feet? My little Shan can still come out without you."

Neither the military nor the etiquette is good enough.

Feng Miao didn't want to waste time and went back to look for someone.

Feng Miao and Jiang Dahe left.

Liu Chunhua raised her chin and said, "You've been delayed for so long and haven't cooked dinner yet. Your second brother will be getting off work soon, and your younger brother will be getting home from school. You should clean up and make dinner."

Jiang Zao responded and went to the kitchen to light the kerosene lamp to cook.

The Jiang family lives in a hutong. There are many people and the place is small. Two generations live in a crowded place. There is no room for the man in the family to get married and have children.

The kitchen is not big, just a few square meters.

What catches the eye are four mud walls. In the left corner are two stoves connected together, and two large iron pots are next to each other. Each iron pot is the size of a 12-print pot.

Pots and vats of this era come in all sizes.

The pot is measured by the number of seals. Farmers generally use 12 seals, 10 seals, and 8 seals. If a family makes tofu, the largest one can use up to 100 seals.

The water tanks in the corners are divided into large tanks, two tanks, three tanks, and small tanks.

The big jar is used to pickle sauerkraut and store water, the second jar is used to pickle mustard greens and radishes, the third jar is used to store animal oil, and the small jar is used to pickle some peppers, coriander, and a small amount of pickles.

There was a large vat for storing water in the corner of the Jiang family's wall. In the morning, Jiang Zao fetched water and brought more than ten buckets from the front yard before the vat was half full.

Next to the water tank is a wooden bowl rack, with bowls, chopsticks and pickles on the rack, pots and pans on top, and firewood in the empty corner.

There is a small piece of land in the yard for growing vegetables. In summer, many vegetables are not ripe yet, so there are not many that can be eaten.

It's either potatoes and eggplants, or potatoes and chili peppers.

Jiang Zao found a basket and was about to go out to the cellar in the backyard to get some potatoes out. He planned to continue frying potato chips. The new potato chips were almost cooked, and he could put the leftover potato chips in the basket to keep them hot.

"Mother! Mother!!"

"Why didn't the third brother bring me food?"

The second brother Jiang Ming walked in angrily from outside.

It was a hot summer day. Jiang Ming strode into the kitchen from outside. As soon as he came in, the heat from his body spread in the kitchen, making Jiang Zao even hotter.

When Jiang Ming saw Jiang Zao, he glared at him with an unpleasant look.

"You are at home, why didn't you bring me food?"
