Chapter 232 Catching the Thief

A week later, Wang Sisi finished making all her three roommates' clothes and delivered them to their dorm room.

Liu Huimin couldn't wait to pick up her own piece and unfold it to look at it: "It's so beautiful, Sisi, thank you for your hard work."

"If you like them, that's great. You can all try them on and see if there's anything that needs to be changed," Wang Sisi said with a smile as she handed the remaining two pieces to Chen Xiu and Xiang Qiu.

Liu Huimin's dress is yellow, Xiang Qiu's is blue, and Chen Xiu's is white with floral patterns. The design of each person's dress, such as the neckline and hem, is different, which shows Wang Sisi's dedication.

The three women were very satisfied after trying on the dresses, as they were custom-made to their measurements and fit perfectly.

The group showered Wang Sisi with compliments, saying that the dress was even better than those in the department store, as department store dresses only came in approximate sizes and couldn't possibly fit everyone perfectly.

Wang Sisi blushed at the praise: "It's just average, as long as you like it. I was worried that I wouldn't do it well."

“It’s excellent, I really like it, and I’d love to have you make two more,” Liu Huimin said with a smile.

Wang Sisi quickly waved her hand and joked, "No way, I still have three dresses to finish. I'll be exhausted if I keep doing them. Let me rest for a bit."

She also had to attend classes every day, so she could only make clothes in her spare time. Afraid that the others would have to wait too long, she hurriedly finished making three dresses in a week.

Wang Sisi felt a little tired thinking about the three dresses she still hadn't finished making, but luckily she had some money to support her, which gave her the strength to keep going.

She planned to take a break after finishing these three dresses. She was busy from morning till night every day, and even the production team's oxen dared not work like that.

Liu Huimin was amused by her terrified little expression: "Hahaha, actually I was just saying it casually. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have that many cloth coupons."

"Phew, that's good," Wang Sisi said, feigning a sigh of relief.

Xia Qingqing looked at her mischievously: "Sisi is really indifferent to money. This is the first time I've seen someone who doesn't want to earn money even though she has it."

"I'm afraid I'll earn money but not live to spend it. All the money I earn is pure hard-earned money," Wang Sisi said exaggeratedly.

While making money is important, her most important thing right now is studying, and she won't let it interfere with her studies.

Wang Sisi suddenly remembered that there was something she had forgotten to say, and immediately looked at Xia Qingqing and said, "Qingqing, do you have time to go to the department store with me tomorrow morning? I need to buy some needles and thread."

"We have class tomorrow morning," Xia Qingqing said helplessly. The two of them were not in the same major, and their class times were different.

"Where are your roommates? Aren't you in the same class?"

"Then I'll go by myself. My roommates want to sleep in and don't want to go out," Wang Sisi said. She wasn't too bothered. It would be better if someone went with her, but if no one went with her, she could just go by herself. It's not like she didn't know the way.

......

The next day, Wang Sisi took the bus to the department store early in the morning. After buying needles and thread, she also bought some snacks to treat herself. She had to study and make clothes every day, so she got hungry very quickly.

After leaving the department store, Wang Sisi carried her things and walked towards the bus stop.

Suddenly, a dirty little boy bumped into her. The little boy looked at Wang Sisi pitifully and pleaded:

"Sister, please have mercy and give me some food. I haven't eaten for two days."

Wang Sisi was startled and instinctively took two steps back.

Looking at the thin little boy in front of her, she sighed and felt a little sad. Such a young child was begging. She took out two pieces of chicken cake from her bag and handed them to him: "Take these and eat them."

"Thank you, sister, thank you, sister," the little boy said, quickly stuffing a piece of the sponge cake into his mouth and swallowing it. He then put the other piece into his pocket.

The little boy hadn't gone far when he was pinned to the ground. Wang Sisi was furious when she saw this. How could a grown man bully a child?

"Hey, comrade, what are you doing?"

The man looked up at Wang Sisi upon hearing the sound: "Catch the thief."

"Catch...thief? What do you mean catch thief? Why are you grabbing that kid?" Wang Sisi asked, somewhat puzzled.

The little boy on the ground looked about six or seven years old because he was often hungry. He couldn't possibly be a thief, could he? Thinking this to herself, Wang Sisi asked aloud.

"Sister, save me, I'm not a thief," the little boy pleaded, looking at Wang Sisi, hoping she would save him.

Wang Sisi looked at the little boy with a troubled expression. She realized that the man was only pressing down on the little boy and had not really hurt him. She didn't rush to speak; she needed to figure out the situation first.

The man looked at the girl's innocent naiveté and chuckled softly. Without explaining, he took a small cloth bag from the boy's clothes and threw it at Wang Sisi.

Wang Sisi subconsciously took it and glanced at it, then froze instantly. Wasn't this the little wallet she had made herself? She reached into her pocket and sure enough, the wallet was gone.

The truth suddenly became clear: the pitiful-looking little boy on the ground was indeed a thief. She had kindly given him food, but he had stolen her wallet in return.

Wang Sisi gave the little boy on the ground a complicated look. The little boy's face turned pale when he realized that he had been exposed, and his lips moved twice: "I'm sorry."

"I need to take him back to the police station first. You can come with me to make a statement too," the man gestured to Wang Sisi.

"Thank you, but are you a police officer?" Wang Sisi asked, puzzled.

The man smiled and said, "Isn't it obvious? Oh, sorry, I forgot I wasn't wearing my uniform today."

Sigh, he finally got a day off today, but he still has to work. Who understands his suffering?

He had seen the little boy stealing things last time, but there were too many people and the little rascal got away. This time, he happened to run into the little boy on the road and followed behind him, which is how he saw the little boy steal Wang Sisi's wallet.

"Don't arrest me, don't arrest me, I didn't steal the money on purpose!" The little boy, whose hands were held by a man, heard that the man who was arresting him was a policeman and that he was going to be taken to the police station. He immediately began to struggle in fear.

The man freed one hand and slapped him on the head: "You little brat, behave yourself. You're such a bad kid."

"Waaah, I'm scared," the little boy said, looking at Wang Sisi with teary eyes, hoping to gain her forgiveness. If this older sister didn't blame him, would he be spared from going to jail?

Wang Sisi turned her face away. Although she was soft-hearted, she was not stupid. No matter how pitiful the child was, it could not hide the fact that he was a thief, especially since he had stolen her money.
