Chapter 330 Gained Weight

Liang Shuang stayed in the army for three days, and soon it was time for her to leave.

Zhang Jianguo had to train these past three days, so he didn't have much time to spend with Liang Shuang. He never expected that the two would have to part ways so soon.

He took half a day off specifically so that he could personally take Liang Shuang to the train station. He couldn't pick her up when she arrived, and he couldn't let her leave alone again when she went back.

Liang Shuang was very happy to hear about this, but then, thinking of something, she asked with concern in her eyes, "Is it okay that you took time off to drive me? Won't it give your boss a bad impression of you?"

"No, don't worry," Zhang Jianguo smiled reassuringly at her.

Not only will the leader not have any objections to him, but he will also be very supportive. After all, the leader has been troubled by his personal problems for a long time, and now that he has finally found a partner, he will definitely cherish the opportunity.

"That's good. I didn't expect you to take time off to see me off. I'm really happy~" Liang Shuang smiled sweetly, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Zhang Jianguo.

Zhang Jianguo felt a little embarrassed and even guilty under her gaze. Shuangshuang was too easily satisfied. He had only done a small thing, and she was so happy.

On the train to the train station, the two held hands tightly.

Over the past few days, Zhang Jianguo has gotten used to Liang Shuang's little gestures, and he no longer gets nervous and sweaty when holding her hand as he did at the beginning.

Time at Meiguang always seems to fly by. When the moment of parting finally arrived, Liang Shuang couldn't hold back her sadness and her eyes instantly welled up with tears: "Jianguo, I'm going back now. Remember to write to me!"

"Yes, I will," Zhang Jianguo said, his lips pressed tightly together. In the end, he raised his hand to wipe away the tears from Liang Shuang's eyes. Feeling the dampness on his fingertips, he suddenly felt a tightness in his chest.

Liang Shuang took the luggage from Zhang Jianguo, gave him a deep look, and then turned and boarded the train.

Zhang Jianguo kept staring at her back until she sat down in her seat, then he smiled and waved to her.

The old lady sitting next to Liang Shuang happened to see this scene and chatted with her kindly: "Young lady, is that soldier your boyfriend? He looks really handsome."

"Um, thank you," Liang Shuang replied curtly, her mood not very high.

The old woman sighed: "That's the downside of marrying a soldier; you only see him a few times a year."

Liang Shuang's eyes dimmed slightly, and she stared blankly at the sky outside the window. She didn't listen to the old woman's rambling anymore.

The separation of the two places is indeed a considerable challenge for Liang Shuang and Zhang Jianguo. In fact, Zhang Jianguo's position has already met the requirements for accompanying the military, but Liang Shuang has finally been admitted to university, and she may not be able to give up everything to follow Zhang Jianguo to the military.

However, she could consider moving to Beijing to work, so she could be closer to Zhang Jianguo and they could meet every week.

But that would mean being away from their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Liang could only see each other once in a long while because their eldest son was in the army. Their daughter would have to leave home for such a far place. It must have been a very sad thing for them.

Liang Shuang shook her head, clearing her mind of all thoughts. Anyway, there were still two years left; she could think about these worries later.

Seeing that Liang Shuang was ignoring her, the old lady next to her also shut up awkwardly and started chatting with a young man opposite her.

......

After a long journey of a day and a night, the train slowly came to a stop at Shanghai Railway Station.

Mr. Liang received a call from his daughter yesterday saying she was coming back today, so he took a day off to pick her up at the train station.

As Liang Shuang carried her luggage out of the train station, she immediately spotted her father, who was wearing a large gray scarf that covered him up completely. She waved to him happily and said, "Dad, I'm here."

"Shuangshuang, you must be exhausted. Go home and rest for a bit," Liang's father patted the back of the bicycle, signaling his daughter to get on quickly.

Liang Shuang hung the two small packages she was carrying on the handlebars, and then jumped onto the back of her father's bicycle while holding a large package: "Dad, I'm all set, let's go!"

"Hey, let's go!" Mr. Liang shouted, his voice full of joy at seeing his daughter.

When Liang Shuang returned home, she was warmly welcomed by her younger brother Liang Lei: "Sister, you're finally back! I've missed you so much!"

As he spoke, he attentively helped Liang Shuang with her luggage.

Liang Shuang couldn't help but laugh and said, "You don't miss me, you miss the gift I bought you, do you?"

"Hehe, I know but I won't say it out loud, sis, you must have bought me a gift, right?" Liang Lei looked at his sister ingratiatingly.

"I bought it," Liang Shuang said with a smile. Seeing Liang Lei excitedly about to open the package, she added, "But the gift was sent back; it should arrive in the next couple of days."

"Okay," Liang Lei said, placing the package on the table with some disappointment.

In less than a minute, he was full of energy again, surrounding Liang Shuang and asking all sorts of questions: "Sister, is Beijing fun? How's Big Brother's army? Is he doing well there?"

Mr. Liang sternly told him, "Go back to your room and do your homework. Can't you see your sister is tired? Let her rest for a bit."

"Dad, I rested on the train and I'm not very tired," Liang Shuang said with a smile. Train journeys are inherently boring, and she didn't want to chat with anyone. Besides closing her eyes and sleeping, she really couldn't find anything else to do.

Liang Lei made a face at his father in an extremely childish way: "See? My sister is willing to chat with me."

Seeing that he was so childish despite his age, Liang Shuang couldn't help but chuckle.

"The weather in Beijing is much colder than here, so I didn't go out much. I just went to the Beijing department store. It's a big place with a wide variety of things. I brought gifts for you and Mom and Dad."

Then she mentioned that she and her friend's family ate Peking duck in Beijing, enjoyed a big meal cooked by her friend's mother, and also tried the specialties of a state-run restaurant in Beijing, as well as some local snacks.

Liang Lei became more and more envious as he listened. He stared at Liang Shuang's face for several seconds before he suddenly realized and said, "Sister, no wonder you look like you've gained weight. You really have!"

"Really? Don't lie to me," Liang Shuang touched her face in disbelief. Had she gained weight? Had she really gotten fat?

Father Liang smacked his youngest son on the head: "What nonsense are you talking about? Your sister has clearly lost weight from exhaustion. Shuangshuang, don't listen to this brat's nonsense. He can't see clearly."

Liang Shuang was both amused and exasperated. She realized she might have really gained weight, since she had been eating non-stop during her stay at the Xia family's house. Although the food at the army base wasn't as good as at the Xia family's, the large package Xia Qingqing had prepared for her was mostly filled with food, and she couldn't stop eating.
