Summer vacation ended quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to go back to school.
After two days and two nights of hard-seat travel, Qin Chuan and Qin Chuxin finally arrived in Beijing. When they got off the train, Qin Chuxin's lips were deathly pale.
Her health wasn't very good to begin with, and she couldn't stand being tired. In addition, her sleep quality wasn't good either, and she was easily woken up by the slightest noise. She barely slept at all during the two days on the train.
"Xin Xin, are you feeling very unwell?" Qin Chu'an looked at her younger sister with some heartache.
Originally, considering his sister's health condition, he wanted to use his connections to buy her a sleeper ticket alone.
However, Qin Chuxin absolutely refused to travel alone in a sleeper car. In addition, this was the first time the two siblings had traveled far from home, and Qin Chuan was worried about letting his sister out of his sight, so he did not insist in the end.
But looking at her younger sister's current state, Qin Chu'an couldn't help but feel a little regretful. She should have gritted her teeth and bought two sleeper tickets.
Qin Chuxin forced a light laugh: "Brother, I'm fine. I'll rest properly at school. I'm not a porcelain doll, I'm not that fragile."
"Okay, I'll take you to school first," Qin Chu'an said casually, but he had already made up his mind that he would definitely buy a sleeper ticket next time he went home.
Actually, Xia Qingqing had told the Qin siblings during the summer vacation that they should come to Beijing to see her a few days before the start of the new semester.
She could take them around Beijing to familiarize them with the city beforehand.
However, Qin Chuan and his sister both tacitly agreed not to trouble Xia Qingqing, and waited until two days before the start of school to set off, planning to visit the Xia family after things had settled down.
Following the route Xia Qingqing had given them, Qin Chuan took a bus to Beijing Normal University.
When they arrived at the dormitory, it was empty. Only one of the four beds was empty, indicating that the others had already arrived and were probably out eating.
Qin Chu'an frowned as she looked at the remaining upper bunk: "Xin Xin, are you sure you can manage sleeping on the upper bunk?"
He wasn't worried that Qin Chuxin's health wouldn't allow her to sleep in the top bunk; Qin Chuxin's health wasn't that bad.
However, neither he nor Qin Chuxin had ever lived in a dormitory before, and he was a little worried that his younger sister wouldn't be used to sleeping on the top bunk, and what if she fell off while asleep in the middle of the night.
It can be said that Qin Chu'an, as the older brother, really went to great lengths for his younger sister, acting as both a brother and a parent.
"Brother, don't worry, I can do it," Qin Chuxin said with a firm nod.
There's no way to ask her to give up her lower bunk, since she arrived the latest. She can't very well ask someone to give up their lower bunk for her; she's not that shameless.
"Okay, Xin Xin, sit down and rest for a bit. I'll help you make your bed," Qin Chu'an said, then rummaged through her luggage for a basin and a rag, preparing to go out and fetch water.
Qin Chuxin tried to stop him, saying, "Brother, let me do it myself."
She admitted that although she wasn't as capable as her brother, she wasn't that spoiled either. She usually did all the housework at home, so why didn't her brother let her do it at school?
Qin Chu'an pressed her back onto the stool: "You should rest properly. Look at your face, you're paler than a ghost."
"Fine," Qin Chuxin reluctantly conceded, secretly touching her face to see if she was really whiter than a ghost.
Qin Chuan had just wiped the bed clean and was about to put the quilt on his younger sister when the dormitory door suddenly opened.
"Hey, classmate, you must be our last roommate. My name is Su Yue. What's your name?" A cute-looking girl greeted Qin Chuxin with a smile.
Qin Chuxin quickly stood up from the stool and nodded to the other person: "Hello, my name is Qin Chuxin."
Hearing the noise, Qin Chu'an, who was making the bed, turned around and looked at Su Yue: "Hello classmate, I am Xin Xin's brother, my name is Qin Chu'an."
Su Yue stared blankly up at the boy who was greeting her.
The boy was handsome, with a faint smile on his face. His dark eyes seemed to hold a glimmer of starlight. Su Yue inexplicably felt her heart beat faster, and her face flushed slightly. She stammered out a few words: "Ah, um... you... hello~".
Covering her face, Su Yue couldn't help but scream inwardly. At eighteen years old, she knew that she had fallen in love at first sight with a boy she had just met.
She frantically searched her mind for how to strike up a conversation, but her mouth, usually so talkative, was now glued shut, and she couldn't utter a single word.
After greeting everyone, Qin Chu'an continued to make the bed carefully. This was something he had done many times since he was a child, and the bed was made in no time.
He climbed out of bed and put on his shoes: "Xin Xin, are you hungry? Let's go have lunch."
"I'm a little hungry," Qin Chuxin nodded, rubbing her rumbling stomach.
After finishing his meal, Qin Chuan left, as he had to rush to his school to register.
After Qin Chuxin returned to her dormitory alone, she noticed that her new roommate Su Yue was looking at her strangely: "Su Yue, is there something you need?"
"Hey Qin, where's your brother? Didn't he come back with you?" Su Yue asked, blinking her bright eyes.
Just after Qin Chuxin and the others left the dormitory, Su Yue couldn't help but feel annoyed that she hadn't seized such a good opportunity to strike up a conversation.
So after everyone left, Su Yue had a plan in mind for striking up a conversation with someone. Unfortunately, the plan was perfect, but the person she was trying to flirt with didn't come back with her sister.
“Su, my brother has gone back to his own school,” Qin Chuxin said.
Su Yue was quite disappointed to hear this, but she quickly cheered up and asked, "Which school does your brother go to? How old is he this year?"
Qin Chuxin had seen several girls hand love letters to her brother during high school, so she immediately noticed something was off about Su Yue's budding romantic feelings.
Knowing that her roommate probably had a crush on her brother, Qin Chuxin said with a smile, "My brother is a freshman at Jingbei University. We are twins, and we are both 18 years old this year."
"Wow, what a coincidence! I'm also 18!" Su Yue exclaimed in surprise. She was the same age as the person she fell in love with at first sight. How could this not be considered fate?
Qin Chuxin was charmed by her cute appearance and nodded with a smile: "Yes, what a coincidence."
Although they hadn't spent much time together, Qin Chuxin could tell that Su Yue was probably a girl who had been pampered by her parents. She guessed that Su Yue was somewhat naive and couldn't hide anything from her face.
Su Yue had no idea that Qin Chuxin had already seen through her little scheme, and she began to subtly probe Qin Chuan's situation.
Aside from some more private questions, Qin Chuxin answered almost every question. When Su Yue learned that Qin Chuan was still single, she was as happy as a kitten that had just stolen some fish.
