After a day of rest, Wu Li got down to business and took Wu Da out to buy food for Gu Yunshu.
His first stop was Linglong Restaurant, where he ordered one of every dish, pastry, and drink.
The shop assistant thought he had misheard and looked at Wu Li in disbelief: "Sir, do you mean you want one of all the dishes, pastries, and drinks in our shop?"
"Never mind, just give me two portions, and remember to pack them all up," Wu Li thought for a moment and then changed his mind. He was afraid that the fairy wouldn't have enough to eat, so he decided to pack two portions of each item.
The waiter was stunned. One serving of each item was already outrageous enough, but two servings of each item?
Wu Li frowned unhappily as she watched the waiter standing still: "What, are you afraid I can't afford to pay?"
To prove his wealth, Wu Li pulled out a bulging money bag from his pocket, took out a gold ingot from it, and threw it on the table.
The waiter was startled awake by the loud noise, and put on a warm smile: "Sir, you've misunderstood. How could I possibly doubt you? I'll go prepare it for you right away, please wait a moment."
The waiter dashed over to the shopkeeper. He was afraid he would mess up such a big deal, so he thought it was better to let the shopkeeper handle it.
Upon hearing that a big customer had arrived, the chubby shopkeeper immediately ran to the private room where Wu Li and her companion were, and warmly served Wu Li some snacks and tea.
Seeing that Wu Li had ordered so much food, Wu Da felt very strange, but it was his master's business, and he would never ask unless his master told him.
Once everything was ready, there were more than a dozen huge food boxes in front of Wu Li.
Wu Li looked at the food boxes with some embarrassment. There were so many that the carriage couldn't hold them all. He should have ordered one of each item first.
He opened all the food boxes and checked them. These were meant to be given to the fairy, and it wouldn't be good if he offended her by making a mistake.
After agreeing with the shopkeeper that the food boxes would be taken away in two separate trips, Wu Li readily paid the money.
The shop assistants helped load the food boxes onto the carriage, and Wu Li directly delivered all the food boxes to Gu Yunshu.
Then he let Wu Da go out for a stroll, and then immediately returned to Linglong Restaurant to repeat the previous operation.
He didn't deliberately avoid Wu Da when he did this, after all, Wu Da had watched him put the food boxes onto the carriage, and soon the food boxes disappeared again. Even if he was stupid, he could tell that something was wrong.
Wu Li trusted the steady and reliable Wu Da very much, but thinking of Wu Qi and the others' boisterous personalities, she still didn't forget to give him a heads-up:
"This is something you and I should know, but don't tell anyone else."
"Don't worry, young master, I will definitely not tell anyone," Wu Da assured him earnestly. He knew his limits; the fewer people who knew, the safer it would be for the young master.
Wu Li nodded in satisfaction and continued to take Wu Da to buy other food.
After wandering around for two whole hours, buying a portion of every food item he could find on the street, Wu Li finally returned home.
The other side, the apocalyptic dimension.
Gu Yunshu and Xie Yue were watching a melodramatic TV series together when they noticed a sudden surge of delicious food boxes in the system's inventory. Gu Yunshu's eyes narrowed into crescent moons with delight.
Wow, I never expected Wu Li to prepare so much food for her.
Xie Yue glanced at the plot on the tablet where the male and female leads were separated by force, then looked at the smile on Gu Yunshu's face and asked in confusion, "Sister Yunshu, why are you smiling so happily?"
The male and female leads in the story were so pitiful that she almost cried. But Sister Yunshu's smile completely stunned her.
Gu Yunshu looked at the female protagonist crying miserably on the tablet and realized that she had laughed at the wrong time.
At that moment, she couldn't care less about anything else; she just wanted to taste the ancient delicacies.
"Hehe, let's watch TV later, let's eat something delicious first," Gu Yunshu said, taking out two plates of pastries that were still a little warm from the system's inventory.
Xie Yue wasn't surprised by her actions; almost everyone in the base knew that Gu Yunshu possessed spatial abilities.
"Sister Yunshu, this pastry smells so good! Did you make it?" Xie Yue stared at the sweet-smelling pastry on the table and swallowed hard.
Gu Yunshu smiled, which was taken as tacit agreement, and picked up a piece and put it into Xie Yue's mouth: "Quickly try it and see how it tastes."
"It's delicious! I've never had such delicious snacks before," Xie Yue said, her words slightly slurred.
Gu Yunshu picked up a piece and savored it carefully. The texture was delicate, it melted in her mouth, and a fragrant aroma lingered in her mouth after she finished eating it.
The two of them took turns eating, and in no time they had almost finished the two plates of pastries.
Gu Yunshu gave the last two pieces to Xie Yue. She had plenty more in her system inventory, so she didn't want to fight with the little girl.
"Sister Yunshu, I'd like to leave these two pieces for my brother, is that alright?" Xie Yue asked Gu Yunshu expectantly.
"Of course you can, Xie Jing is so lucky to have such a thoughtful daughter like you," Gu Yunshu said, deliberately ruffling Xie Yue's hair.
She would never admit that she was somewhat envious of Xie Jing.
Xie Yue grinned foolishly: "I also miss Sister Yun Shu. I'll save the best food for her too."
In the evening, Xie Jing came to the store to pick up his sister and take her home.
Xie Yue took out the pastries she had left for Xie Jing during the day: "Brother, you should try them. These are pastries made by Sister Yun Shu. They're so delicious!"
Xie Jing stared intently at Gu Yunshu, making Gu Yunshu feel somewhat embarrassed.
Is it too late to explain now that I didn't make the pastries? Oh well, let's just assume she did, otherwise it's not a good way to explain.
The two pieces of pastry weren't much, and Xie Jing finished them in a few bites.
After finishing the pastries, she didn't forget to thank Gu Yunshu: "Yunshu, thank you for the pastries. They tasted very good. This is the first time I've ever eaten such delicious pastries."
“Right, I think it’s delicious too,” Gu Yunshu affirmed.
Gu Yunshu noticed Xie Jing staring at her longingly and assumed he hadn't had enough and wanted more. After thinking for a moment, she said, "If you really like this dish, you can buy it from me. I can reluctantly sell you a plate."
Xie Yue chuckled to herself. Her brother was such a fool. Every time he wanted to talk to Sister Yun Shu a little more, he didn't know what to say. Then he would secretly feel annoyed when he got back.
“Okay, I’ll buy it,” Xie Jing immediately took out a level 5 crystal core from his pocket.
Gu Yunshu looked at the fiery red crystal core in the man's palm and felt a little strange: "Xie Jing, why do you always seem to encounter fire-type zombies?"
"This is probably just a coincidence," Xie Jing subconsciously touched the tip of his nose, a hint of guilt flashing through his mind.
This was no coincidence, of course. He had someone switch them on purpose, since Gu Yunshu had fire-type abilities.
