The train has finally arrived at the station.
Guan Yuxi got on the car in a daze, and got off with aches and pains all over her body.
The trip these past few days has been quite enjoyable.
First, Leng Lie was both attentive and considerate towards her.
Secondly, the sound of the train passing the sleepers, combined with the conversations outside the compartment, created a thrilling sense of illicit affair.
However, the price is not small.
She could barely straighten her back.
I wonder if newlyweds do the same when they go on their honeymoon?
Guan Yuxi, feeling utterly hopeless, let Leng Lie half-embrace and half-carry her out of the car.
Fortunately, Leng Lie only brought food and disposable items for the train.
Otherwise, getting off the bus would be quite a difficult situation.
On the same train, there were many people who were visiting Kyoto for the first time, and they were all looking around excitedly.
Guan Yuxi, however, couldn't muster any energy. All she wanted to know was when she could get a good night's sleep at a hotel!
Where are we going?
We were swept forward by the crowd.
Fortunately, Leng Lie's figure shielded her from the crowded throng.
Leng Lie looked at her with her eyes half-closed, seemingly half-asleep, and found her extremely cute.
He gently massaged her aching lower back, saying, "Someone is picking us up."
Guan Yuxi nodded slightly.
She doesn't care about this at all!
As long as she doesn't have to walk or take the bus, that's fine.
However, when he saw who it was, his eyes widened suddenly.
Even the fatigue of the past few days was swept away.
"Brother Lie, he..."
She stared wide-eyed at the well-maintained middle-aged man opposite her.
He looks almost exactly like Leng Lie!
Leng Lie nodded slightly.
Seeing her curious expression was so adorable, I couldn't resist giving her a quick peck on the cheek. "I never expected it to be him!"
All he knew was that someone was there to pick them up.
It was arranged by Secretary Song, but he never expected that the man who came would be the one he should call his father.
Guan Yuxi tilted her head and thought for a moment, "It shouldn't be that coincidental."
Either Leng Liangyu has enough power, or he just happened to know something related to this incident.
"Xiaoxi, it's been so many years, do you still recognize me?"
The middle-aged man's gaze lingered on Leng Lie for a moment before casually looking away and greeting Guan Yuxi with a smile.
Guan Yuxi glanced at Leng Lie.
The latter gave her a reassuring look, indicating that she was alright.
"It's been more than ten years since I last saw Uncle Yu. He's still so young and handsome. How could I not recognize him?"
Guan Yuxi leaned against Leng Lie, smiling sweetly.
Before he could reply, she added, "However, Uncle Yu, are you mistaken?"
You haven't seen your own son for over ten years, and when we meet you you act like you don't know him, but you chat idly with me, a complete stranger?"
She smiled and pushed Leng Lie forward, ruthlessly tearing the gauze between the father and son.
Leng Lie: "......."
Although it felt a bit awkward.
However, since it was his wife's arrangement, he would just have to obey.
Leng Liangyu's expression seemed to be torn apart. After struggling for a moment, he finally regained his composure.
He smiled wryly and said, "You are my daughter-in-law, how can you be considered an outsider?"
Besides, I didn't hold you when you were little. Back then, I just wanted a well-behaved daughter like you...
Oh, so you're planning to start with her and play the emotional card?
Guan Yuxi rolled her eyes. "Uncle Yu, the more you say, the more mistakes you make. I don't remember anything from when I was a child."
"Your son doesn't even acknowledge you, do you think you can have a daughter-in-law?"
Leng Liangyu: "......"
This daughter-in-law really doesn't give anyone any face at all!
Being protected by his wife like this, Leng Lie felt as sweet as if he had eaten honey.
He looked indifferently at the man he should have called father, but could no longer bring himself to say it. "Did you come to pick us up on behalf of someone else, or did you find out about us through some other channel?"
Leng Liangyu then turned her gaze to him.
He stared intently at the face that was almost identical to his own.
His memories are still from his childhood.
The little boy who followed him around like a shadow, constantly calling out "Dad".
"You've grown up."
His eyes were moist, and his lips trembled as he spoke the words that had been repeatedly spoken to him in his dreams for over a decade.
Leng Lie withdrew his gaze and looked at Guan Yuxi gently, "Let's find another car."
Guan Yuxi glared at Leng Liangyu with disdain, "Uncle Yu, what's the use of you just talking nonsense?"
Your son is asking you a question. You have to answer him!
"You should have just not come to pick us up; you made me walk so much further."
She gave Leng Lie a reproachful look, then clung to him as if she had no bones.
That one glance was like the indestructible aqua regia.
All the sharp thorns on Leng Lie's body melted away.
"lead the way!"
"I heard from a friend that you were coming."
He volunteered to pick you up in his place. Come this way with me.
Thanks to Guan Yuxi's witty remarks, the relationship between the father and son has temporarily shown signs of improvement.
As soon as she got in the car, Guan Yuxi fell asleep on Leng Lie's lap.
She even ignored the countless pleading looks Leng Liangyu gave her.
"Xixi won't help you; she just can't bear to see me sad."
"But she's wrong. How could I be sad for someone like you?"
"You and I are nothing but strangers!"
Leng Lie gently protected Guan Yuxi, his gaze fixed on the man's eyes in the rearview mirror.
Neither dodge nor avoid.
The man silently took out a cigarette, and was about to light it when he was stopped.
