Chapter 112: What a Talented Group

After breakfast, Lin Shan and the others went to work. Yun Huaying followed them and asked for leave from the team leader, making up an excuse that she was dealing with personal matters. She then secretly asked Mrs. Wang for a few woven bamboo baskets.

When Han Zheng drove over on his tractor, she immediately moved the baskets that had already been loaded onto the car, covered them with straw, got on the tractor and followed him to the county town.

Han Zheng drove a tractor directly to the Hegang black market. It was very lively here in the morning. Almost everyone in the county knew that there was a special black market here. The female comrades in his family often came here to shop, so they dressed up to cover up and came here to sell game without attracting much attention.

You need to pay money to sell goods in the black market. The entry fee is one dollar, but you don’t need to pay separately to buy goods. You can enter at any time with your seal.

After paying the money, Han Zheng randomly found a place to set up a stall. He placed two large bamboo baskets side by side, one filled with pheasants and the other filled with rabbits, both of which had their legs and wings tied with thin ropes.

Neither of them shouted like the others, but simply opened the lid of the bamboo basket and squatted in unison, waiting for customers to come.

Some people looked at it, some asked the price, but no one bought it.

Yun Huaying, who had never sold anything before, was a little worried that she wouldn't be able to sell anything. She moved closer to him and asked him, "Should we shout?"

The unique and refreshing fragrance of her body filled his nose. Han Zheng's body tensed instantly, and he also moved a little closer to her. He whispered in her ear, "No need to shout. Game is easy to sell. Our price is not high, so it will sell."

"All right."

Yun Huaying had no experience, so she had to follow him.

Soon, a customer arrived. A man wearing a mask and unwilling to reveal his identity came over and pointed at the plump rabbits of uniform size in the bamboo basket. "How much are these rabbits?"

"The rabbits usually weigh more than four pounds, and they are 3.5 yuan each. No bargaining." Han Zheng continued.

The price was within the other party's acceptable range, so he didn't bargain. He picked and chose in the bamboo basket, selected the two fattest ones, asked Han Zheng to tie them tighter with a rope, then gave Yun Huaying seven yuan and left with the rabbits.

Yun Huaying put the money away, and a rare hint of smile appeared in her cold voice: "It's open."

Seeing her happy, Han Zheng was also happy. Seeing someone selling fried dough sticks and scallion pancakes not far away, he stood up and said, "Huaying, you watch the stall. I'll go buy some food."

"good."

Yun Huaying thought he hadn't eaten breakfast and moved slightly to make room for him to pass.

When Han Zheng went shopping, two more customers came. They were both well-dressed women, carrying large baskets. They were interested in the two baskets of game and asked her, "How much are the pheasants and rabbits?"

Yun Huaying deliberately changed her voice and answered them in a hoarse, old voice: "The rabbit is three dollars and a half, and the pheasant is three dollars. No bargaining."

"Your pheasant is a little small. Can you make it cheaper at three yuan?" One of them bargained with her.

"The size of pheasants is incomparable to that of domestic chickens. These pheasants are already large. They look small, but the meat is quite firm. You can lift them and feel their weight."

Yun Huaying refused to lower the price. She had asked Han Zheng before, and the price they set was not expensive, just a medium price.

The other person actually reached out and picked up two to try, and seemed satisfied with the weight. After discussing with the woman next to him, they each bought a hare and a pheasant.

When Han Zheng came over with the fried dough sticks, she was helping to tie them up. He immediately took over the job and only asked her to be responsible for collecting the money and giving the change.

After the two men left, Han Zheng handed her the fried dough sticks and scallion pancakes, "Huaying, I'll sell them, you eat them."

"I've had breakfast, you have it." Yun Huaying didn't answer.

Han Zheng also had breakfast, which he bought specially for her, and stuffed it into her hands. "You must have eaten a simple meal in the morning, so eat some more."

Yun Huaying wasn't so selfish as to eat alone, so she gave him half of the fried dough sticks and scallion pancakes. "Half is enough for me."

She liked to share the food equally, and Han Zheng cooperated. As they ate, he said, "Huaying, why don't you go look at other stalls? If you see something you like, you can buy it and put it on the tractor to take back. You don't have to tire yourself out."

"Okay, I'll go take a look."

Lin Shan and Jiang Yuan both liked the sneakers she bought last time and wanted to buy some too. If they were available, she would bring them back on her way today.

There were a lot of people setting up stalls today, and I brought them two pairs of shoes. The most popular items sold in the morning were various meat dishes. There were five or six pork stalls, and there were the most people in front of these stalls. A group of women were scrambling for food.

Yun Huaying passed by a pork stall and saw the butcher was a young boy, no more than thirteen or fourteen, judging by his appearance. He chopped and weighed the meat with a neat and tidy technique, and exuded a shrewd and clever aura. He raised his delicate brows slightly and said, "This black market is really full of talented people."

The young boy was just tying up some meat with straw. He caught her gaze and said, "The pork is gone. There's only one pig's trotter left."

Yun Huaying looked at the large pig's trotter next to her and said, "I bought this pig's trotter. Please help me tie it up."

"OK."

The boy worked really efficiently. He had tied up the pig's trotters in a few turns, picked up the scale and quickly weighed them and calculated the price: "36 cents a pound. This pig's trotter is a little over 2.5 pounds, so I'll give you 90 cents."

Yun Huaying handed him ninety cents, took the pig's feet, and asked, "Can you still get some meat?"

This kid has been selling meat in the black market since he was thirteen or fourteen years old. People around him seem to be used to it. The pork stall next door doesn't sell as well as his, but the stall owner doesn't look jealous. This shows that he must have some unique skills and a background that others dare not provoke or bully.

"How much do you want?" the young boy asked her.

As soon as he said this, Yun Huaying knew he could easily get pork. There were two wolves in the space that needed to be fed and ate raw meat. One or two pounds of meat was not enough to fill their teeth, so she ordered more: "Fifteen pounds."

"Okay, when do you want it?" the young boy agreed immediately.

"I'll come back to get it from you at ten o'clock, okay?"

Yun Huaying didn't want Han Zheng to know, so she planned to come back after selling all the game.

"No problem." The young boy agreed.

Yun Huaying took out two dollars from her pocket and handed it to him, "I'll give you a deposit first, and I'll come meet you here around ten o'clock."

"good."

The young boy put the money into his pocket, then quickly closed his stall, picked up his knives and left, leaving behind a group of envious faces.

When Yun Huaying came over with a pile of things, Han Zheng's bamboo basket was also quite empty, with only two pheasants and three rabbits left. She squatted down beside him, grabbed an orange from the bag and handed it to him, smiling: "You're selling very fast."

"Just now a middleman came to collect the goods. I gave them a discount of fifty cents each, and he took half of the goods." Han Zheng said as he gave her all the money in his hand.
