Chapter 57: Framed

Yun Huaying has no special feelings towards Han Zheng. She doesn't reject him, dislike him, or hate him. That's all for now.

She admitted that she was an extremely rational person, and that love at first sight and then falling in love again would not happen to her. Perhaps in the future, when fate arrived, she would eventually choose to be with the other person, which would definitely be a natural result.

As for now, she has no idea in her mind, and everything in the future will be a matter of the future.

The food in the pot is almost ready. Tonight, Yun Huaying will cook, Jiang Yuan will help her cut vegetables and prepare side dishes, and Lin Shan will be responsible for lighting the fire and washing the dishes after dinner. The three of them will divide the work and cooperate with each other, and get along very happily and tacitly.

After putting down the firewood, Han Zheng went home and brought back two bowls. He served a bowl of rice to his grandfather and took some of the other dishes.

After the tempting milky white fish soup was served, Yun Huaying used a large shovel to scoop a large spoonful of fish meat into his grandfather's bowl, filling it up with soup. "There's plenty of fish soup. If it's not enough, come get another bowl after you finish it."

"That's enough."

Han Zheng couldn't help but feel his throat churning as he looked at the pot of fish soup. He held a bowl in each hand and said, "You guys eat first. I'll come down after I deliver the food."

The two houses are close to each other, only a few dozen steps away, but the Han family's small earthen brick house is slightly higher, with a small dirt road going uphill in the middle.

When Han Zheng returned home with the food, the old man had just come out of the toilet. After taking the medicine, his face was not as pale as before, and his back was straight. He said, "The three little girls just came here, and food and vegetables are in short supply. The two of us, grandfather and grandson, have to eat and carry them. You can bring them some vegetables later."

"Grandpa, I know."

Han Zheng placed the food on the small table by the door and went to the kitchen to get him some chopsticks. He didn't put on a serious expression in front of his grandfather, but smiled and said, "She cooked all the dishes tonight. I'm drooling just by smelling them."

Seeing his grandson laugh when he talked about the girl, the old man, who had experienced it, also laughed: "You should go over and eat quickly, don't keep them waiting."

When Han Zheng rushed down, the food had just been served on the table. It was not dark yet, so they moved the small table to a bright place outside, and the four of them sat on each side.

"Have a meal."

This was the first real meal they had here, and after a tiring day, they all wolfed it down.

"Wow, Yun Huaying, the food you cook is really delicious."

Jiang Yuan was the first to show her support. With her mouth full of food, she spoke incoherently, "The dishes you southerners cook are really delicious. I didn't believe it when my elders told me about it before."

"Is the food in your hometown bad?" Lin Shan asked her.

"My hometown is in a remote mountain valley in the north. We eat two meals a day: vegetable steamed buns for the first meal and coarse grain steamed buns for the second meal. If we can have some pickles with each meal, we are considered wealthy."

"Later, my grandparents sent me to live with my parents in the county town. There were too many children in the family, and the food was not much better than in the countryside. We only had steamed buns, steamed bread, and pancakes. At most, we would stir-fry some vegetables or make some vegetable dumpling soup. We only had meat a few times a year, and we only bought fish during the Chinese New Year."

"My parents are not very good at cooking fish, and neither am I. Every time we cook it, it has a strong fishy smell, so we don't like it."

Yun Huaying had already finished a large bowl of fish soup. She stood up to get some rice and joined in the conversation. "Jiang Yuan, how many brothers and sisters do you have?"

"Seven."

"Seven!" Lin Shan was slightly surprised. Her family was really big. She asked again: "Where are you ranked?"

"third."

Jiang Yuan had never told them about her family situation before, but she got along well with them that day, so she started talking about her family: "My grandparents and my parents all have a strong preference for boys over girls. They had five daughters in a row, and the sixth was finally a son. But my parents weren't satisfied, so they kept going and had a seventh sister."

Three listeners: “…”

"My eldest sister is already married. Her brother-in-law is an honest farmer. Their family is extremely poor, but he has a decent personality and is very kind to my eldest sister. They gave birth to a son just one year after their marriage. They can still get by even if they're a little poor."

"My second sister and I are twins. She's prettier than me. After we were born, she was brought up by our parents, while I was sent back to our hometown to be taken care of by my grandparents. My second sister wasn't a good student and dropped out before finishing junior high school. I had good grades and was able to earn money to go to high school by working part-time."

"The spot to go to the countryside was originally for my second sister, but she went on a hunger strike at home and refused to go. Then she quickly married a temporary worker at a state-owned factory, so the spot fell to me."

When Jiang Yuan said this, a hint of discomfort appeared on her heroic face, and she revealed a smile that was uglier than crying.

Lin Shan understood her feelings and picked up a piece of fish for her. She sighed in a condescending manner, "In fact, few of us educated youth who went to the countryside came here willingly. You had no choice, and so did I. Huaying was framed and tricked into coming here."

"Ah, was he framed?" Jiang Yuan was slightly surprised.

Han Zheng hadn't investigated the Yun family's affairs while in Jing County. He had only inquired about Xiafang Ziqiang's character. Now that they were talking about going to the countryside, he asked, "Huaying, who framed you?"

"Parasite." Yun Huaying replied.

Han Zheng frowned and was about to speak when Lin Shan spoke up for her. "Huaying had originally been admitted to the textile factory's medical office on her own merit. She wasn't just a nurse, but an assistant doctor, and she was going to be hired as a full-time doctor in three months. Today was the day she reported for work. But her disgusting stepmother had ulterior motives and secretly signed her up to go to the countryside, hoping her daughter would take over Huaying's job."

"This, this, Yun Huaying's stepmother is so wicked." Jiang Yuan had heard of similar cases before, but she didn't expect that Yun Huaying would have such an experience.

"Their whole family is wicked. Not only her stepmother and the three little vampires, but her father is also a complete scumbag. Everyone in Jing County knows about him. I simply can't find words to describe him."

Lin Shan thought about the suffering her friend had endured at home and felt sorry for her. However, thinking about the disgusting garbage family that was now facing a difficult life, she told them with a beaming face, "This time they tricked Huaying, and Huaying also fought back."

"She sold her job and her house first, and then used the method her stepmother taught her to trick her twin stepsisters into going to the countryside. She even chose the locations for them in the northeast and northwest."

"Besides, before we came here, her stepmother was caught having an affair with her lover by that bastard's wife and father-in-law and mother-in-law. Her black-hearted stepmother was sent to a farm for reform, and her scumbag father was labeled a cuckold bastard. The evildoers finally got their comeuppance."
