"Lin Shan, Yun Huaying, it's time for dinner."
The three of them took turns cooking. Yun Huaying and Lin Shan took turns cooking rice and stir-frying vegetables. Jiang Yuan was not very good at these, but she was very good at noodles. Tonight she made her best fried noodles.
She made the noodles herself and stir-fried them with some vegetables. Lin Shan was the first to praise her: "Jiang Yuan, your fried noodles taste great, much better than the noodles we had in the state-owned restaurant."
"The noodles in state-owned restaurants are machine-pressed and not as chewy as those made by hand."
Yun Huaying also likes to eat noodles, but she doesn’t know how to make handmade noodles. She only knows how to make pancakes, dumplings, buns, and steamed buns.
"As long as you like it."
Jiang Yuan was worried that they didn’t like pasta, and she wanted to learn how to cook southern dishes from them as soon as possible so that she could adapt to life here quickly.
"I like it, it's delicious." Lin Shan really liked it, shoveling it into her mouth. As she ate, she said, "The three of us are a perfect match. We can alternate between rice and noodles, and we can also learn from each other's cooking skills."
When Han Zheng came down with the bowls, the three of them were eating happily. He asked with a smile, "What delicious food do you want to eat today?"
"Chow mein," Yun Huaying replied. "Jiang Yuan made it. It tastes good."
Han Zheng has been very busy these past two days. He has made many trips to the county. He first assembled a bicycle and then went to buy some small parts. He spent the entire day assembling machines in the team and only came here for a walk in the evening.
He was the one who cooked tonight's meal. He had previously set up some traps in the mountains and caught two pheasants. He stewed one for Grandpa to nourish his body, braised the other one, and sent half a bowl down to them.
Han Zheng placed the bowl in front of Yun Huaying. "I cooked the pheasant."
"Let's eat together."
Yun Huaying didn't plan to eat alone, so she picked up a piece of food with her chopsticks and pushed the bowl a little to the middle so that the two of them could get a piece of food.
Han Zheng brought a stool over and sat down. Seeing her eat, there was a hint of anticipation in his eyes: "Is it tasted okay?"
"Well enough."
Yun Huaying nodded. It was spicy and flavorful, and went well with rice. However, the pheasant meat was tough and tough, and a little hard to chew. "It will be ready in ten more minutes."
Han Zheng rarely cooks and his cooking skills are average. He found the food he ate a little hard to chew before. He smiled and said, "Okay, I'll cook it a little longer next time and make it softer."
The two people who were quietly eating chicken next to me felt that they were unnecessary to stay here.
Han Zheng didn't ignore them either, and took the initiative to talk to them: "I see that the team has finished harvesting the soybeans today. The next two days will be scorching hot, so you can take it easy. Do you want to go with me to the mountains tomorrow?"
"Okay." Lin Shan was the first to agree. "I heard from the aunts and uncles in the village that there are a lot of wild vegetables and game in the mountains. I don't think the three of us can get any game, so I want to go pick some wild vegetables and fruits."
Jiang Yuan also raised her paw. "The mountains in my hometown are all coal-bearing, with very few species of vegetation. The mountains in the south are rich in species, most of which I have never seen. I'm thinking of going there to see them, and I'll ask Brother Han to teach me when the time comes."
"Okay." Han Zheng agreed.
Yun Huaying was about to say something when a sharp shout suddenly came from the yard next to the captain's house. From a distance, she saw several people rushing out of the house. Zhao Xuelin also rushed over from his home with his bare chest. The two said something and ran back into the house together.
Lin Shan put down her bowl and chopsticks, stood up and said, "It's the captain's second uncle's house. Let's go take a look."
The others didn't say anything. They all put down their bowls and chopsticks and ran over quickly.
"Xue Lin, what happened?" Han Zheng ran in front and asked loudly as he rushed into the yard.
Zhao Xuelin's face changed at this moment, and his voice was a little dull and flustered. "My second aunt suddenly fainted on the ground and is now unconscious."
"What?"
The neighbors who rushed over were all shocked.
Yun Huaying arrived just in time and stood on tiptoe to take a look inside the house. She saw that the family members were holding Zhao Ersao in their arms and pushing her hard. With the professional ability of a doctor, she shouted a warning: "Let her go quickly and let her lie flat."
"Uncle Zhao, Qingqing, let her go quickly." Han Zheng immediately rushed over and pulled her away.
Their production team did not have a clinic, not even a barefoot doctor. The nearest commune clinic was in the neighboring Nanzhu Brigade, and Yun Huaying was the only one who knew medicine here.
Han Zheng checked Aunt Zhao's breath to confirm that she was breathing. He turned sideways to look at Yun Huaying, but before he could say anything, she had squeezed through the crowd. She held Aunt Zhao's pulse with one hand and lifted her eyelids with the other to look at her eyeballs.
The captain's eyes lit up when he saw her professional movements: "Yun Huaying, do you know medicine?"
"Understand."
Yun Huaying didn't say much. She performed a professional and efficient examination. After checking the patient's pulse and eyeballs, she placed her hand on his chest to listen for his heartbeat. After confirming everything, she calmly informed them, "It's not a myocardial infarction. It's a simple transient ischemic attack. The high blood pressure also caused the fainting."
"What is cerebral ischemic hypertension?"
Uncle Zhao had never heard of these diseases. His brows were furrowed tightly, and he looked very panicked: "Can it be cured?"
"Has she been feeling dizzy, with blurred vision and difficulty seeing people, and feeling weak and tired recently?" Yun Huaying asked back.
"Yes, my mother has been saying that she is not feeling well recently and has frequent headaches. She came back from work at noon today and said that her headache was about to explode. She went to her room to rest without even eating. Yesterday at noon she said that her eyes were blurry and she couldn't see clearly. She kept pricking her fingers when she used a needle to mend our clothes." Zhao Qingqing next to her hurriedly told her.
Yun Huaying nodded and explained to them professionally, "A transient ischemic attack is simply a mini-stroke, an acute condition caused by blockage of small blood vessels in the brain."
