Chapter 35 The Savior Has Arrived (1/2)

Seeing that Director Wei had finished speaking and Zhou Xiaohong still showed no intention of saying anything, Bai Yueyao hardened her heart and pushed Zhou Xiaohong out, even "thoughtfully" calling out for her:

"Director Wei, Zhou Zhiqing has something he wants to ask you!"

Director Wei glanced at Bai Yueyao; his impression of her couldn't have gotten any worse.

He now regrets it; he should have taken advantage of Bai Yueyao crashing the tractor a couple of days ago and sent him back to the educated youth settlement.

What's there to be afraid of about losing face? Losing face once is better than seeing her cause trouble every now and then!

Because she was pushed out by Bai Yueyao, even a fool could tell that Zhou Xiaohong wouldn't keep anything to herself. He said in a rather unfriendly tone:

"Speak quickly if you have something to say, and then get to work!"

Zhou Xiaohong hadn't originally intended to say it, but after being forced into the situation, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and say:

"Well, Director Wei, I was thinking that since Zhong and the other educated youths are just sitting under the shade of the trees anyway, and we're short-handed for the harvest, how about we let them come and work with us?"

Bai Yueyao felt an urge to kick Zhou Xiaohong because she spoke so weakly.

Where's her loud and boisterous manner? Look at what she's saying!

How can you talk about this like that! You have to label them outright, don't they even understand what labeling is?!

Since Zhou Xiaohong wasn't helping, Bai Yueyao had to step in and add to the effort herself.

"As Chairman Mao said, 'The harvest is of paramount importance; everything else must give way to the harvest.' I imagine that Zhong, the educated youth, must have been anxious watching everyone else harvest, and he would have been very willing to lend a hand!"

"Our progress as educated youth is slow, and we really need Zhong's help. I hope Zhong won't refuse!"

Zhong Wanwan saw that Bai Yueyao was picking a fight again and was about to scold her when Bai Yueyao interrupted her, saying:

“It is important to ensure the logistics of the tractors, but Zhong and the other educated youths have no work to do, so there is no need for them to wait under the shade of the tree.”

"Those who know are Zhong Zhiqing and a few others, who are responsible for the logistical work of repairing tractors. Those who don't know might think that Zhong Zhiqing is unwilling to work alongside the vast majority of laborers, risking their lives for the harvest!"

These words undoubtedly put Zhong Wanwan in a difficult position. Bai Yueyao had blocked both her options. No matter what Zhong Wanwan said, if she didn't go to work in the fields tonight, she would be labeled as out of touch with the people.

If the information on the three siblings' household registration books is true, Zhong Wanwan isn't afraid to go up against Bai Yueyao.

But isn't this fake? The three siblings should keep a low profile. If the rumors spread too much and someone goes to the Jincheng Machinery Factory to inquire, then everything will be over!

A gentleman takes his revenge even after ten years. Zhong Wanwan was about to say a few nice words before spending the afternoon working.

It's impossible to do that every day. At worst, the four of them, master and apprentices, can work a little harder tomorrow and go to each production team with a tractor to inspect and repair the tractors!

Before Zhong Wanwan could speak, she saw an old man running towards them from a distance. Seeing Director Wei, he grabbed him as if he were a lifeline and gasped for breath:

"Director Wei, where's your farm's tractor repair technician? Our team's tractor is stuck in the rice paddy and we can't get it started! We need to get the technician to take a look right away!"

"We're in such a rush to harvest, and now the tractors have broken down! This is really causing a huge delay!"

Now we don't need to wait until tomorrow; we have a reason to take a few apprentices to the production team.

Zhong Wanwan looked at the old man who had just spoken as if he were her savior; his arrival couldn't have been more timely!

Zhong Wanwan, her eyes gleaming with excitement, waved her hand and said:

"Let's go back and get the tools. We'll go and get the tractor repaired right away!"
