Chapter 6 Zhong Baiyang's Grand Show of Pretending to Be Cool (2/2)

Before she could finish speaking, Zhong Wanwan skillfully opened the tractor's front cover.

He located the oil outlet valve connection, pried a hole out of the waste gasket, and put it back in. Then he closed the engine cover, took the crank handle from the tractor toolbox, and started cranking the tractor vigorously.

Seeing Zhong Wanwan shaking with difficulty, Bai Yueyao laughed even louder, shouting between laughs:

"That's hilarious! Did Zhong Zhiqing think this was some kind of child's game? That he could just touch the machine a couple of times and the tractor would suddenly be working?"

"And what did you touch on the tractor just now? If the tractor is damaged even more because of you, can you take responsibility?"

Although Director Wei didn't think the tractor could get any worse, he didn't want to waste time on it and was about to step forward to stop Zhong Wanwan.

The familiar "putt-putt-putt" sound of the tractor filled the air, and Deputy Farm Manager Wei said excitedly:

"Zhong Zhiqing, are you really sure you've fixed it?"

As he spoke, Deputy Director Wei gave a thumbs-up in praise:

“Even the technicians at the county’s auto repair shop couldn’t fix it this quickly. You figured out what was wrong after just a couple of turns around. Zhong Zhiqing, you’re really amazing.”

Zhong Wanwan said modestly:

"Unlike the technicians at the auto repair shop, who have real skills, I only know the basic principles because I used to install tractors in a machinery factory!"

"Besides, it's not even fixed yet..."

Before Zhong Wanwan could finish speaking, Bai Yueyao interrupted:

"If you haven't fixed it, why are you showing off? Who knows if you've really damaged the tractor further? What's there to brag about!"

Seeing that Bai Yueyao had indeed taken the bait, Zhong Wanwan deliberately asked:

"If you're not going to show off, then tell me precisely what's wrong with the tractor? What was that I just took apart? And how did you temporarily fix the tractor?"

Bai Yueyao had no idea what Zhong Wanwan was talking about. She stubbornly insisted:

"I've already told you, it only has a few problems. Why should I tell you the specific reasons behind it?"

Zhong Wanwan ignored her and pointed at Zhong Baiyang, saying:

"Bai Yang, teach Bai Zhiqing, what's the principle behind this!"

Even before the repairs began, Zhong Wanwan had carefully examined the tractor's problems and determined exactly where it was broken.

The old-fashioned hand-cranked tractor is simple, and Zhong Wanwan, who has been dealing with vehicles for many years, can easily understand it.

So he had Zhong Baiyang memorize a passage early in the morning, just in time to let Zhong Baiyang show off a bit later.

Zhong Baiyang was nervously reciting in his mind what his older sister had just taught him, when Zhong Wanwan called on him.

Zhong Baiyang feigned composure and said:

"The oil pipe was worn and leaking oil. My sister just pried a hole in the old cylinder head gasket to allow air to flow and solve the problem of insufficient fuel supply!"

"However, this solution is only temporary. The worn-out part will still have to be replaced eventually!"

Zhong Baiyang deliberately spoke slowly, actually thinking about what Zhong Wanwan had just said while he spoke, and skipping over the parts he didn't remember.

Zhong Wanwan could tell how unprofessional his words were.

But Director Wei, and the others present, didn't know that!

To others, it was clear that Zhong Baiyang was confident and spoke a lot of technical terms, word by word.

Moreover, even though they only half-understood the explanation, it didn't stop them from thinking that Zhong Zhiqing was really amazing!

Not only did they find the problem quickly, but they also modified a part themselves in no time. No matter what kind of pad it was, they had never even heard of it, let alone seen someone else modify it!

When Director Wei saw that Zhong Baiyang, a boy of only half a year, understood this principle, he could only think that Zhong Wanwan must have a family tradition of learning!

With such a talented person, we absolutely have to recruit him to the farm!
