Chapter 34 Encounter at the Hotel

At the restaurant, Lin Qingyan noticed that Lu Zhengting had bought embroidery thread among the items he had purchased. She assumed it was from Li Qinqin and asked, "Qinqin, are you doing embroidery?"

"Hmm." Li Qinqin glanced at Lu Zhengting but didn't mention the handkerchief repair. "I was bored at home after the autumn harvest, so I wanted to find something to do."

Lin Qingyan noticed that most of the embroidery threads were white, so she asked, "The colors of these embroidery threads seem a bit monotonous. What kind of flowers are you planning to embroider?"

Li Qinqin glanced at Lu Zhengting again; her cousin definitely still didn't want her to tell the truth.

Lin Qingyan was puzzled. Why was Li Qinqin always looking at Lu Zhengting when she asked her a question?

Was she embroidering something for him?

"I want to embroider cotton. Isn't cotton white?"

In order not to tell the truth, Li Qinqin gave a casual answer.

As soon as she finished speaking, she realized she had blurted out something inappropriate, and quickly covered her mouth.

Lin Qingyan couldn't help but laugh, and even Lin Zhiheng laughed. Lu Zhengting, however, remained expressionless. His cousin really didn't need to think before she told a lie.

Li Qinqin smiled awkwardly: "I am a native farmer, and I have the most passion for crops. I think cotton is quite beautiful. When it is in bloom, each cotton boll is white and fluffy, cute and pretty. So, I wanted to embroider them."

Lin Qingyan nodded: "That makes sense. It's probably because it's not a flower and its main purpose isn't for people to admire that its beauty is easily overlooked."

"yes."

Lin Sisi, Gu Mingzhou, and Lin Guanghui left quite a while before Lu Zhengting and Lin Qingyan finished their lunch and also left.

As Lin Sisi approached the oxcart, she suddenly remembered her previous decision to write an article. She said to Gu Mingzhou, "Brother Mingzhou, I suddenly remembered that I was planning to write an article. Let's go to the supply and marketing cooperative again to buy some paper and pens. I also want to submit an article to the newspaper."

She was confident in her abilities. She thought that once she returned, she would change the position of the jade pendant, and this time she would definitely be able to outshine Lin Qingyan.

Gu Mingzhou, however, was not very interested and found it hard to believe that Lin Sisi could compare to Lin Qingyan.

But it's worth a try. If she succeeds, it will give me some comfort.

"Okay, let's go together."

They went to the supply and marketing cooperative together and bought paper and pens. This time, Lin Sisi paid for them herself. Lin Guanghui wanted to eat cookies, so he asked the salesperson to give him a box and then walked out, asking Lin Sisi to pay for them. Lin Sisi was so angry that she couldn't say anything in front of Gu Mingzhou.

She cursed Lin Guanghui inwardly, calling him a useless bastard who had ruined his sister's life.

Lu Zhengting and Li Qinqin returned to the brigade leader's house and began to discuss how to repair the handkerchief.

Li Qinqin found a small round embroidery frame made of bamboo at home, which was enough for her needs.

However, before embroidering, you need to patch up the small hole in the handkerchief with a fabric of a similar color.

Li Qinqin found a piece of off-white fabric, cut off a small piece and patched it onto the handkerchief. Then she framed the corner of the handkerchief with the hole in the embroidery frame and began to embroider.

Lu Zhengting watched from the side, and before Li Qinqin had embroidered much, an idea came to him.

"Qinqin, why don't you teach me how to embroider, and I'll do it?"

"Huh?" Li Qinqin couldn't help but be surprised, looking at Lu Zhengting in disbelief: "Cousin, you're a grown man, you're going to embroider?"

"What's wrong? Why can't a grown man embroider?"

He really wanted to do this himself and didn't want to delegate it to others.

Li Qinqin looked at his hands. Although his fingers were very long and his knuckles were distinct, they were still large and rough from years of training in the army and handling guns. She found it hard to imagine what it would be like for such hands to pick up an embroidery needle and embroider. Could he really embroider well?

"Cousin, are you sure you want to do embroidery? Embroidery is a skill that requires learning and practice; it's not something you can learn just by doing it."

“I can learn,” Lu Zhengting said. “Anyway, I have the time, and I think I should do this myself.”

Li Qinqin smiled and said, "Alright then, since my cousin wants to embroider a handkerchief for Sister Qingyan so much, I'll teach you how."

Li Qinqin taught Lu Zhengting how to embroider. Lu Zhengting first practiced on a piece of rag, and then embroidered it on a handkerchief once he had learned enough.

Li Qinqin saw through it but didn't say anything. Her cousin was so attentive to this handkerchief, so the owner of the handkerchief must also be tempted by it.

She'll just wait and see how things develop between her cousin and Qingyan.

When Li Fang returned from his stroll outside, he saw Lu Zhengting practicing needlework, so he took his ripped pants.

"Third cousin, I saw you doing needlework. My pants are torn in the crotch, can you sew them up for me?"

He simply threw the pants in front of Lu Zhengting, who didn't even look at them: "Sew your own pants yourself."

"I don't know how, Third Cousin, please help me out."

"in spite of."

Li Fang thought Lu Zhengting was disgusted by the location of the hole in his pants, "Okay, you don't have to sew up the crotch area, you can sew up the part above the knee for me too."

"I don't care, let whoever wants to sew it do it."

Li Fang was immediately puzzled. Lu Zhengting was clearly doing needlework, pricking a piece of rag with a needle. Why couldn't he help him?

Li Qinqin knew the reason, but she didn't say it.

"Second brother, bring me your pants, I'll sew them up for you. It's your own fault for being so clumsy, you can't even sew clothes. If it weren't for us, I bet your clothes would still be torn."
