Chapter 97 Helping the Old Lady

"Qingyan".

Gu Mingzhou didn't believe it; he was sure Lin Qingyan was still sulking with him.

Lin Qingyan picked up her basket and went to cut grass elsewhere. Gu Mingzhou chased after her for a few steps, but Lin Qingyan raised her sickle to warn him: "Comrade Gu Mingzhou, please stop following me. There are only the two of us here. If you keep following me, people will think there's something between us."

Seeing her angry and fierce expression, Gu Mingzhou moved his lips but said nothing more and did not follow her.

Lin Qingyan deliberately walked a long way, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't see Gu Mingzhou chasing after her.

"You're crazy!"

She cursed at Gu Mingzhou, then continued mowing the lawn.

On the other side, Gu Mingzhou, in a bad mood, went down the mountain and went straight back to the educated youth settlement.

Lin Sisi waited for him to help her harvest beans in the field, but he never came. It wasn't until she finished work and returned to the educated youth settlement that she found him in the dormitory.

"Mingzhou, when did you get back? Why didn't you come to the fields to look for me?"

"I got tired of walking around in the mountains, so I came straight back."

"oh."

...

Lin Qingyan was carrying the cut pig feed to the pigpen when she saw a hunched old woman carrying a bundle of firewood on her back, struggling to walk.

Suddenly, she heard a cry of pain. It turned out that the old lady had accidentally fallen to the ground, and the firewood had been thrown aside.

She quickly went over and squatted down in front of the old woman: "Grandma, what's wrong?"

The old lady touched her ankle. "I accidentally stepped on a stone and I think I twisted my ankle."

Lin Qingyan looked at the woman's ankle. "Grandma, I actually know how to set bones. If you trust me, I can fix your ankle. Oh, I'm a sent-down youth from here. My name is Lin Qingyan."

The old lady had no doubt about what Lin Qingyan said. She could tell that Lin Qingyan genuinely wanted to help her, otherwise she wouldn't have introduced herself and her family.

"Young lady, thank you, you are such a kind person. Since you have told me the truth, I will not hide it from you either. I actually live in a cowshed. We people have bad class backgrounds. If you are afraid that I will implicate you, you should leave quickly."

"The people in the cowshed."

Lin Qingyan knew perfectly well that most of the people living in the cowsheds were actually innocent victims. They were not the so-called evil spirits who would harm people, but rather people who were very useful to the country and the people.

However, due to the unstable situation, they are now forced to suffer here.

Lin Qingyan prides herself on not being a busybody, but she believes that helping those who deserve help is not being a busybody, but rather very meaningful.

She gently took the old woman's ankle and placed it in her own hand.

"Grandma, as long as you believe in me, I will heal you."

Grandma Huo nodded: "Young lady, I believe you."

"good."

"Grandma, it might hurt a little, please bear with it, but it will be over soon."

"good."

Lin Qingyan quickly fixed the old lady's ankle. The old lady stood up and took a few steps. Because of her age, the lubrication of the joint cartilage had decreased a lot. She had just had her bones set, so she could walk without any problems.

However, she also bumped her knee when she fell. She lifted her trouser leg to take a look and found that she had only slightly scraped her skin, but the pain caused by the bump would not disappear for a while.

If I also carry that bundle of firewood on my back, the weight on my body makes it a little painful to walk, and I end up limping.

Lin Qingyan couldn't possibly eliminate the pain in her body; it's a basic bodily reaction, and if it's eliminated, the person loses all sensation.

"Grandma, you need to rest a bit more. Here, I'll take you back to the cowshed."

"Huh?" Old Mrs. Huo was surprised again: "You're taking me back? Aren't you afraid someone will see us? Young girl, I'm afraid it will implicate you."

"I won't send you back; it would be too difficult for you to get back. Do you have any other relatives here? Will anyone come to meet you?"

Grandma Huo shook her head: "It's just me and my husband here. My husband's headache is acting up, and he can't even take care of himself."

"Then let's not worry about that for now. Grandma, let's be careful. Everyone is busy with the autumn harvest in the fields right now, no one will come here, and no one will see us."

Grandma Huo nodded and said, "Alright then, I'll trouble you, young lady."

Lin Qingyan picked up her firewood, carried it in her hand, and went back to the cowshed with Old Mrs. Huo.

As soon as they arrived at the cowshed, they saw an old man with gray hair squatting on the ground, raising one hand and clenching it into a fist, punching himself on the head repeatedly. In his other hand, he held a silver needle, preparing to pierce his head. Perhaps because he couldn't see the acupoints and his hand was trembling, he hesitated to insert it.

He kept his eyes tightly closed, his face showing both pain and helplessness, and he even made whimpering sounds.

"Old man."

Grandma Huo walked over and grabbed his hand that was self-harming. "Old man, your headache is getting worse again. Sigh, I'm not a doctor, and my eyesight is failing, so I can't give you acupuncture. You can't even pinpoint the acupoints yourself. What are we going to do?"

Lin Qingyan was very familiar with acupuncture. She said to the elderly couple, "I know acupuncture. Let me perform acupuncture on this old gentleman."

Grandma Huo immediately showed a delighted expression; she trusted Lin Qingyan completely.

Old Huo was suffering from a terrible headache. He would be extremely grateful if someone could give him acupuncture. Therefore, when Lin Qingyan spoke, his first thought was not doubt, but the joy of finally being free from pain.
