Jinshi
Lin Qingyan was suddenly awakened by a dream in the early hours of the morning.
"younger brother!"
She dreamt of a blurry little boy, and a voice in her mind told her that it was her younger brother, but she didn't have a younger brother at all.
However, that feeling was extremely strong.
After thinking for a while, I wondered who this younger brother was.
She's going to the countryside today, and she still doesn't know who this younger brother is or how to find him.
She glanced at the time; it was almost time to go to the train station.
But she was still worried about her younger brother. She couldn't remember why, so she asked Lin Heping and Fang Huilan if they might have sold him.
So she took the kitchen knife and went to the two men's house. The door was locked from the inside, so she banged on it hard.
"Open the door right now, or I'll set this house on fire."
Hearing such terrifying words, the two people inside were afraid that Lin Qingyan would really go crazy and set the house on fire, so they quickly got up and dressed.
Lin Heping and Fang Huilan hadn't slept well all night because of the lack of a fan, and now they opened the door for Lin Qingyan with dark circles under their eyes.
Upon seeing him, Lin Qingyan immediately held a kitchen knife in front of him, demanding, "Tell me, where is my brother? Where have you taken him?"
Lin Heping immediately perked up upon seeing the kitchen knife and asked Lin Qingyan in surprise, "Your brother? Isn't Guanghui home? What do you want with him?"
"It's not that bastard, it's my own brother." Lin Qingyan gritted her teeth.
"You don't have a younger brother at all. Your mother only gave birth to you. Where did this younger brother come from?"
Lin Qingyan didn't believe it, because Lin Heping had absolutely no credibility with her.
She pressed the cleaver closer to Lin Heping's neck: "Tell me now, or I'll kill you."
Lin Heping still insisted on his original statement, "Even if you kill me, you won't have a younger brother."
Lin Qingyan couldn't help but wonder, did she really not have a younger brother?
At this moment, Fang Huilan's eyes flickered, and she walked over and said, "Qingyan, we're not lying to you, you really don't have a younger brother. If you don't believe me, ask the neighbors in the compound and let them tell you whether you have a younger brother or not."
Lin Qingyan wasn't sure if they were lying, but if they had sold her brother, she would never forgive them.
She went to the yard to find her neighbors, but none of them were up yet. She only managed to wake up the family across the street, who, like Lin Heping and Fang Huilan, said that she didn't have a younger brother.
But what about the little boy in the dream?
She wouldn't have such a dream for no reason, would she?
There's nothing we can do now. We'll come back to find him when we have a clue about my brother.
She went back to her room, quickly packed her things, and left.
When she left the family compound and took the bus to the train station, she saw many young people wearing red flowers on their chests. These must be educated youth like her, going to the countryside.
They were all full of energy and high spirits, shouting slogans as Lin Qingyan walked towards them with her luggage on her back.
When a comrade from the educated youth office saw her carrying luggage, he came over and asked, "Are you also going to the countryside to build the motherland?"
"Yes, my name is Lin Qingyan, and I'm going to the Northeast."
"Alright, Comrade Lin Qingyan, labor is the most glorious thing. It is the bounden duty of every educated youth to contribute to the construction of our motherland. Here, this is your big red flower, wear it."
"Thanks."
Lin Qingyan accepted the red flower and pinned it to her chest. She then joined the ranks of the educated youth, but she was preoccupied with her own thoughts and not in the mood to chant slogans with everyone.
And she didn't know that from the moment she arrived, a pair of eyes in the group had been watching her.
The boy's dull eyes lit up the moment he saw her.
He subconsciously took a step forward, then suddenly remembered something, his eyes dimmed, and he lowered his head and silently retreated back into the line...
In my youth, after the educated youth sent to the countryside gathered together, the person in charge would take attendance and then let them all board the train.
Most of the people here are quite well-mannered, queuing up and boarding the bus in an orderly manner. A few people with poor manners try to rush onto the bus, but it doesn't cause much of an impact.
After Lin Qingyan went up, she was lucky enough to find a seat by the window. She could enjoy the scenery along the way, which made her less bored.
Because of her short stature, she had some difficulty putting her luggage down, so she simply put it under her seat.
A girl with a pointed face and somewhat dark skin was already sitting opposite her.
The girl greeted her first, "Hello, my name is Du Xiaoyue. I'm going to Fengshi City in Jilin Province. Oh, but I don't know which county, commune, or brigade I'll be assigned to yet. If we end up together, let's be friends."
Seeing that the girl seemed easy to get along with and had no guile, Lin Qingyan smiled and said, "My name is Lin Qingyan. It's fate that we met. I hope we can be assigned to the same group, and I also hope we can become good friends."
She didn't enjoy interacting with people much in either of her lives, but now she feels that being able to make friends and talk more is quite good, as it helps her become much more cheerful.
Du Xiaoyue smiled and extended her hand to her, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Qingyan."
"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Xiaoyue."
Before long, two more girls came up next to them.
They sat down next to each of them. One of them was of average appearance, dressed conventionally, and had a rather ordinary expression.
The other one was different; she was prettier than the other one, wearing a brand-new dress and pretty leather sandals.
