Lin Qingyan took out some dried wood ear fungus and dried mushrooms from her bag and walked up to Sister Zhang.
“I saw a mountain here earlier and thought these things weren’t anything special, so I didn’t take any when I went to your house. Now I’ll take some out to go with a dish.”
"Okay, let's go to my place now."
The three of them followed her. When she went to the kitchen to cook, Lin Qingyan also came in to help.
"Qingyan, you go outside and rest. I can do it myself."
"Sister-in-law, don't be so polite with me, and don't treat me like a guest. We'll be living together from now on, and who knows when I'll need to come to your house for a meal. I can't let you serve me all the time. If you're polite to me, it means you don't welcome me coming to freeload."

After lunch was prepared, Battalion Commander Zhang returned.
During the meal, Battalion Commander Zhang and Lu Zhengting raised their glasses, which were filled with hot water, and clinked them together.

They had no choice but to drink water instead of alcohol, and each of them drank several cups.
After dinner, Lin Qingyan helped Zhang's wife clear the dishes and utensils. When Zhang's wife was washing the pots and pans, she didn't ask Lin Qingyan to help and told her and Lu Zhengting to go back and rest.

The three of them left the yard and locked the gate. As they passed another neighbor's house, Lin Qingyan noticed that the gate was locked and asked Lu Zhengting, "Is no one living in this house?"
"I'm not too sure either. Maybe someone lives there, but they're not home right now."
"Oh, if they're living there now, let's go pay them a visit once they're home."
"OK."
As they passed through a residential area, several women suddenly greeted them with smiles.
They surrounded Lin Qingyan, looking her over and over again. Lin Qingyan felt like a monkey in a zoo being stared at by tourists. Oh, being a panda would be better, she liked pandas.
"Oh my, we were saying that Comrade Lu's family is hiding a fairy, and look at this, it's true!"
"No wonder Comrade Lu treats her like a treasure. Look at her delicate face and beautiful figure. You probably can't find one like her in ten thousand."

The sisters-in-law each took two or three pieces and divided it up.

They had just reached the outside of the family compound when they ran into another person, Feng Yidong, who was Lu Zhengting's best friend who often went on missions with him.
Feng Yidong walked up to the three of them and respectfully greeted Lin Qingyan, "Hello, sister-in-law."
Lin Qingyan had only met Feng Yidong once on the train to the countryside. She knew he was Lu Zhengting's comrade-in-arms and that they had a good relationship.
However, his greeting to her first caught her off guard for a moment, and then he smiled at Feng Yidong and said, "Brother, how are you?"
Lu Zhengting then patted Feng Yidong on the shoulder, saying, "You're a smart kid, you know who to greet first when you meet them."
