Chapter 23 Awkward

Deputy Director Liu picked up another wrinkled and stained file bag.

"Comrade Zhang Hongcheng, I've rarely seen a file as full of bitterness and hatred as yours!"

Xiao Qin covered his mouth and almost laughed, and a faint smile flashed across Qiao Xinwei's lips.

Zhang Hongcheng smiled harmlessly.

"I think so."

Deputy Director Liu took out the files of both people and looked at Qiao Xinwei's personal information first.

"Qiao Xinwei, 20 years old, graduated from high school."

"He's a worker's son. Hmm (applauding). His father is a D-level employee and a technician at the plastics factory. Oh, and he's a municipal model worker. Hey, your family is pretty good!"

Deputy Director Liu raised his eyebrows, as if he had thought of something.

"Xiao Qin, go get Comrade Qiao Xinwei a glass of water."

Xiao Qin immediately took a cup to wash it.

Qiao Xinwei hurriedly responded politely.

"No, really."

After saying this, he glanced at Zhang Hongcheng subtly, without hiding his smug thoughts at all.

"Your mother is a health worker at the neighborhood clinic, and she's also a candidate for D. Oh, she even served in the militia before. Comrade Xiao Qiao, you have a pretty good family!"

Qiao Xinwei's face flushed slightly and he smiled modestly.

Deputy Director Liu did not continue reading, but glanced at Zhang Hongcheng's information curiously.

"Huh?"

He pointed at the text on Zhang Hongcheng's information and read a passage curiously.

"High school graduate, worker's son, you all start the same way."

"Comrade Zhang Hongcheng's father was an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China, a company commander stationed in the Z unit, and a combat hero!"

Deputy Director Liu suddenly looked up at Zhang Hongcheng.

"You are the child of a martyr?!"

Xiao Qin just poured a glass of water over and Qiao Xinwei was politely reaching out to take it.

Unexpectedly, when Xiao Qin heard Deputy Director Liu's exclamation, he subconsciously turned around and stuffed the teacup into the hands of the "children of martyrs".

"Xiao Zhang, have some tea."

Zhang Hongcheng touched his head embarrassedly.

"Thank you."

Qiao Xinwei withdrew his hand awkwardly.

Only then did Xiao Qin realize that he seemed to have done something stupid.

She hurried to make amends.

"Comrade Xiao Qiao, please wait a moment. I have some pears that will quench your thirst."

Deputy Director Liu's gaze towards Zhang Hongcheng also softened a lot.

He read Qiao Xinwei's information again.

"Comrade Xiao Qiao is also very outstanding. He is an outstanding member of the Communist Youth League and an outstanding youth in the neighborhood. Tsk tsk tsk tsk."

"He's been commended by the neighborhood committee for helping others so many times, and the plastics factory leaders strongly recommend him for a more important job. He's progressive in his thinking and good at writing. What a talent!"

Xiao Qin just opened his drawer and was planning to take out only one pear, but after hearing Qiao Xinwei's comment, he simply took out both pears.

"Let me take a look at Xiao Zhang's..."

"Is Xiao Zhang's mother a demobilized soldier? She's also a D-class member, the head nurse at the staff hospital!"

"Xiao Zhang, I didn't expect you to be a candidate for D member. Wow, tsk tsk tsk, an outstanding youth at the county level!"

"He was commended for his bravery and the city government strongly recommended that he pursue a career that better reflects his value. He has noble ideas and is also a good writer!"

Zhang Hongcheng touched his nose embarrassedly.

The brave act refers to saving Yu Qiuli, and he obtained the qualification of probationary party member because of the mountain flood incident, but it is a bit embarrassing that it seems that every item in his information just overshadows Qiao Xinwei.

From parents to oneself, and then to ideological evaluation, a perfect contrast...

Eh?

Suddenly, there were two more pears in his hand.

Looking at Xiao Qin's shining eyes towards Zhang Hongcheng, Qiao Xinwei's face turned green.
