As for that troublesome old incident... maybe... maybe it can remain a secret forever?
"But Mengmeng..."
Guo Letian leaned forward and, with the shrewdness of a seasoned man, lowered his voice and warned, "When he comes later, your second uncle, eldest aunt, and the younger ones at the bottom will inevitably flock to him to fawn over him.
That scene...you don't have to worry about it!
You are a woman, and you are the protagonist today!
Just do whatever makes you feel comfortable!
Just like usual, be cool when you should be cool, don’t laugh if you don’t want to, and just sit there and say nothing!
For a family as prominent as the Huo family, it's already a bit...undignified for our family to be so eager to join them.
As for you, you don't have to try to please others, just be more polite!
Don’t learn from those petty people who post on others’ behalf!
If you can agree to try to contact them, this attitude is already enough to give the Huo family a step and face, understand?"
"Yes, Grandpa, I know."
Liu Rumeng nodded meekly and stood up.
Watching her walk towards the door, Guo Letian finally felt completely relieved. He leaned back on the large leather chair and sighed contentedly.
…
“Here it comes!”
Beside the private driveway outside the Guo family villa, a group of young people who couldn't contain their excitement stood on tiptoe to look around, and were forced to step back slightly by the gazes of their elders.
Guo Zhiming personally accompanied them, and a dark blue Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped steadily in front of the magnificent gate of Guo's house.
The car door opened and the driver stood by with swift movements.
Guo Zhiming got out of the car first, almost half his body sideways, with an attentive smile on his face, and then turned around to respectfully greet the protagonist.
Huo Zhenting stepped out calmly, wearing a perfectly tailored dark gray British tweed suit that was ironed neatly and perfectly set off his tall and slender figure, without a trace of the frivolousness of a nobleman.
With a modest smile on his face, he bowed slightly to Mr. Guo Letian, who had already come out to greet him, and said modestly but not servilely:
"Mr. Guo! I am truly overwhelmed by the trouble you and all the elders, brothers and sisters have to take to personally greet me.
It's just a small gift, though it's not meant as a token of respect, please accept it."
As he spoke, his well-trained bodyguard and assistant behind him had already swiftly taken out several exquisite packaging boxes from the spacious trunk of the car.
Ho Ying-tung personally stepped forward and picked up the gifts one by one. With Guo Zhiming's whispered introduction, he accurately delivered the gifts to the corresponding people.
The atmosphere instantly became extremely warm.
"Mr. Guo, this is a small gift for you."
Huo Zhenting presented a long and narrow rosewood box with both hands, which had rich texture and ancient charm.
Guo Letian took it with a smile, and Guo Zhiming beside him explained with understanding: "Dad, Mr. Huo specially asked someone to get this wild mountain ginseng king from Korea. It is absolutely a rare treasure these days, and it can save your life in a critical moment!"
Guo Letian's heart was slightly shaken, but his smile remained unchanged: "Mr. Huo is too wasteful."
"Aunt," Huo Zhenting turned to Yan Meijuan and handed over an exquisite milky white paper box. The gold-embossed brand logo on it was low-key but very significant. "I heard you love tea, so I'd like some authentic Shifeng old tree Longjing Xiaozhong, Mingqian tip buds, to try."
Yan Meijuan took it with both hands, smiled so hard that her teeth showed, and thanked her repeatedly.
"Brother Jingting," Huo Zhenting turned to Guo Jingting, Guo Zhiming's eldest son, and handed him a flat rectangular box. "I know you're interested in new gadgets. This is the latest model, the Casio calculator, just made in the United States. It's very compact and is said to be worth a dozen old accountants."
Guo Jingting couldn't wait to take it, his eyes full of surprise.
"Fucheng, here."
Ho Chun-ting patted the shoulder of Aaron Kwok, the second son of Kenneth Ko, who loves photography, and handed him a large square box. Inside was a brand new Konica C35 Automatic rangefinder camera with a metallic luster, a textured brown leather strap and several rolls of Kodak film.
“Record your life more.
This camera is for you. When you run out of film, just ask me for more."
Aaron Kwok's cheeks flushed with excitement, and his voice trembled a little: "Thank you...thank you...thank you brother-in-law!"
Wow!
Although Aaron Kwok is young, his emotional intelligence is quite high.
The word "brother-in-law" blurted out immediately made Huo Zhenting smile. He immediately took out a check from his pocket, wrote a number on it, put it in Aaron Kwok's shirt pocket, and said with a smile:
"I won't let you call me brother-in-law in vain. I have a little money. Treat more female classmates to sweet soup at school... But don't let your mommy and daddy take it away!"
The youngest, Guo Jingan, was nervous and looked at Ho Chun-ting with wide eyes.
With a gentle smile, Huo Zhenting took a large, colorful cardboard box from his assistant. "These are Lindt assorted soft-centered chocolate balls. They're popular in the US and kids love them. Try them and see if you like them. But don't eat them all in one day, or you'll risk cavities."
Guo Jingan immediately took it and held it in his arms happily.
The girls were not left behind either.
The gift for Guo Fuzhu and Guo Jingzhu was a gift box of Estée Lauder's latest Revlonist Platinum Nourishing Cream. The packaging was elegant and luxurious, with delicate golden English words printed on it and exuding a light and expensive fragrance.
Guo Zhiming's wife Li Meifeng and Guo Zhiqiang's wife Yan Meijuan each wore a pair of heavy South Sea pearl earrings with a warm luster.
Everyone has a share, and everyone is surprised.
The younger generations opened the novelties in their hands and couldn't let them go. Their joy was beyond words. The gate of the Guo family was filled with a harmonious and festive atmosphere.
Although the elders said, "Mr. Huo spent a lot of money," they couldn't hide the smiles and satisfaction in their eyes.
