In the revolving restaurant on the top floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, outside the huge curved floor-to-ceiling windows, the myriad lights of Victoria Harbour are like a galaxy of broken diamonds spreading across the sky.
The crystal chandeliers in the room cast a soft glow, and the air is filled with the fragrance of top-quality ingredients and the slightly intoxicating aroma of famous wines.
The mess of cups and plates on the table indicated that the astronomically expensive feast was coming to an end.
The restaurant manager and waiters had already respectfully left, leaving only Lin Huowang and the five beauties in the huge space.
The restaurant manager's response of "Two million Hong Kong dollars" was like a powerful catalyst, causing the four beauties, who had never seen such luxury, to fall into a dizziness of intense sensory stimulation.
Yu Qixia, the third runner-up of Miss Hong Kong in history, tried her best to maintain a "worldly" demeanor, and learned to shake the wine glass gracefully like in Hong Kong dramas, sipping the famous wine worth thousands of dollars in the glass, but her fingers trembled uncontrollably, and her eyes always glanced at Lin Huowang involuntarily.
With undisguised passion - this daughter from a tailor shop in Kowloon Walled City knows too well the power of money and backers. The handsome man in front of her is the only ladder to change her destiny!
She raised her glass frequently, with deliberately exaggerated movements, and occasionally "accidentally" knocked over the glass, and the bright red wine dripped onto the back of her white hand and the table. She apologized coquettishly, but her eyes were glued to Lin Huowang.
On the other hand, Zhu Lingling, who was the Miss Hong Kong champion in history, appeared more restrained.
She sat upright, her manners impeccable. But the slight intoxication of alcohol had stained the face of the "Most Beautiful Miss Hong Kong" with a charming blush, and her clear, beautiful eyes were filled with a misty mist.
She silently nibbled at her priceless wagyu steak, only raising her eyelids when Lin Huowang spoke, gazing intently for a moment before drooping shyly again, her long lashes casting a faint shadow beneath her eyes. Her dignity shone with a subtle charm, like still waters running deep.
Shi Jiayi, the "Friendship" lady, got drunk the fastest and most thoroughly. The figure of 2 million Hong Kong dollars was a complete myth to her, and the 3,000 yuan glass of wine made her feel even more uneasy.
Her family was at the bottom of the social ladder in the tenement buildings of Sham Shui Po. The sweat of her father and the smell of her mother's fish still seemed to linger in her nose.
The huge contrast and the strong impact of alcohol made her consciousness completely blurred.
She lay on the edge of the table, her little face buried in her arms, murmuring unconsciously: "Dad... fish... lots of fish... money... lots of money..."
He looked naive, like a lost child, with all his disguises gone, leaving only the most genuine sleepiness.
Looking at Lu Ruirong, the runner-up of Miss Hong Kong this year, she has demonstrated a shrewdness and self-preservation far beyond her age.
She always controlled her alcohol intake and her eyes remained clear.
She looked at Yu Qixia's almost fawning flattery, Zhu Lingling's calm seduction, and Shi Jiayi's defenseless drunken state, and her heart was as clear as a mirror.
She was keenly aware of the thoughts behind Liu Rumeng's seemingly "generous" appearance.
As the intoxication gradually spread, she held her forehead in her hand and apologized softly to Lin Huowang: "Mr. Xiaolin... I'm sorry... I... can't handle the wine anymore..."
His voice was just the right amount of tiredness and confusion, and then his body softened and he slowly fell on the table, as if he had fallen asleep.
But her thick eyelashes trembled slightly on the tablecloth, and occasionally a gap appeared under her eyelids, quietly observing the final outcome of this delicate scene.
Lin Huowang dealt with Yu Qixia's deliberate "mistakes" and the gazes she cast at him, understanding it in his heart but with a distant courtesy.
He saw everything, including Liu Rumeng's indifferent look as if she was detached from everything - her fingertips gently touched the rim of the wine glass, and her eyes looked calmly at the bright harbor outside the window, as if she was indifferent to everything happening around her. She only occasionally glanced sideways and exchanged a knowing look with Lin Huowang.
Finally, after Shi Jiayi fell into a deep sleep and Yu Qixia's eyes were blurry and her speech was incoherent due to her deliberate drinking, Lin Huowang nodded slightly to Liu Rumeng.
Liu Rumeng stood up and gracefully pressed the button to summon the waiter.
Several well-trained waiters, their eyes fixed on the room, quickly entered. Following Liu Rumeng's whispered instructions, they carefully helped the four beauties, who were either "sleeping soundly" or "too drunk," to their feet. Shi Jiayi was carried about completely unconscious, like a rag doll.
Yu Qixia staggered, mumbling, "Mr. Xiao Lin...good wine...let's drink more..."
Zhu Lingling seemed to be somewhat resistant to being supported by others and struggled slightly, but at the waiter's insistence, she was half-supported away, her body soft and weak.
Lu Ruirong was helped up obediently, with her head slightly lowered, her long hair covering half of her face, making it impossible to see her expression.
The restaurant's heavy door closed silently, blocking out all sound. Lin Huowang and Liu Rumeng were the only two people on the top floor of the luxurious revolving restaurant.
The colorful light outside the window flowed silently, reflecting the two of them like a still oil painting.
The stagnant air seemed to ignite instantly. All the disguises, all the distance, all the caution, melted away like ice and snow the moment the door closed!
Lin Huowang suddenly stood up and in two steps he was in front of Liu Rumeng. Before she could even react, a pair of strong arms locked her tightly into that incredibly familiar yet unfamiliar warmth.
Then, a hot kiss with an almost predatory breath came down heavily, blocking all the words she had not yet uttered!
The longing was like a flood that broke through the dam, drowning the two of them.
