Time is a complicated thing, how should I put it!
Sometimes you feel like time is passing very slowly, and you wish you could fast-forward to the point in time you want; it can feel like each day is an eternity.
But sometimes it passes by so quickly, like a fleeting moment, before you have a chance to savor it, and you've gone from youth to old age, your youth is gone, and your loved ones are gone.
Before we knew it, it was 1979. Winter had barely passed when some ingrates had already completely shattered the peace between the two countries.
In its repeated incursions into our borders, that country has seriously violated our territorial sovereignty.
Therefore, on February 17, 1979, the Chinese army launched an offensive counterattack from two directions, Guangxi and Yunnan. The People's Daily published an editorial entitled "This is intolerable!" and announced a self-defense counterattack.
But unlike in the past, this time, our soldiers have undergone several years of special training. The special forces led by General Liu are no longer hindered by the special rainforest terrain, and every brave soldier has demonstrated greater combat effectiveness.
Through years of honing their skills, Zhao Mengsheng and Huang Xiaoli have served as the commander and deputy commander of the main assault team, respectively.
The victory was significant with minimal casualties. This battle astonished the world, especially the United States, which had suffered greatly against the same enemy. They were amazed that the Chinese army, the pinnacle of human light infantry, had become even stronger than before.
Our soldiers were furious when they saw that the rice and other supplies we had sent as aid were being wasted on defensive fortifications!
In those years, so many people in our country went hungry. We tightened our belts to help you first, and this is what we got in return?
The battle grew increasingly intense and prolonged...
Lin Huowang was also closely following the war. Liu Rumeng was a little worried, so he patted her hand to comfort her.
After Chen Jing and Zhong Xiaojun learned that Lin Huowang had also come to Beijing, they often visited the courtyard house.
It can be said that, under the influence of these individuals, Lin Huowang's courtyard house has become the coveted residence of those second-generation rich kids. Those who lack status or connections simply cannot enter the gates of this courtyard house.
Needless to say, those troublesome second-generation kids, some even dared to bully Lin Huowang, but after one phone call, their parents immediately stripped them naked, forced them to kneel down and admit their mistakes at the entrance of Lin Huowang's courtyard house.
And when people come here, they often share and discuss the real situation on the battlefield in a tense atmosphere.
Lin Huowang was very pleased. This time, the ingrates were hit harder, and our losses were much smaller. This also served as a better training and combat exercise.
He was well aware that this war would not end in a short time; its protracted ten-year drag on in history was historically necessary.
Lin Huowang, however, could not neglect his own career and work. He had an even heavier responsibility, as China's industrial system was essentially just a hollow shell.
He had to patch things up here and there, pouring in countless amounts of money, before the basic industrial structure gradually took shape.
Furthermore, the construction of large-scale infrastructure projects was actually hundreds of times more difficult than Lin Huowang had anticipated.
Two years have passed, and less than a third of the standard national highways that are in good working order across the country have been completed, let alone the much more challenging expressways.
After all, China has a vast territory and complex terrain. With its current technology, it simply cannot do many of the work that requires tunnels and bridges.
Even though Lin Huowang is a reborn person, he doesn't understand various tunnel drilling rigs and bridge-building technologies. If he wants to accelerate research and development in this area, he can only provide more research funding.
Overall, however, Lin Huowang's emergence accelerated the booming Chinese industry by two times.
During this period, Lin Huowang repeatedly reminded Liao Gong, who was working hard at his post, to rest more, get more checkups, and take better care of his health.
After all, according to normal historical developments, Liao Gong didn't have more than two years left. It's likely that during this period, China was beset by internal and external troubles, and he was busy running around doing various things, which is why he fell ill.
Fortunately, in this lifetime, Lin Huowang resolved many hidden dangers in advance and brought in a massive amount of funds. Our foreign exchange reserves are much richer than they were in the same period in history.
Especially after Lin Huowang's reorganization of Hong Kong Island, British capital was completely weakened, which made Liao Gong's work much easier.
Especially when he thought about the tens of billions of dollars in the country's foreign exchange account, Liao Gong's lips would often curl into a wide smile.
He followed Lin Huowang's advice meticulously, after all, as the great man said, health is the foundation of everything, and now, after several rounds of recuperation, he had plenty of it.
...
Before we knew it, the calendar had turned to the spring of 1980.
The environmental problems in Beijing remain serious, with significant sandstorms.
But these past few years!
The colors on the streets, however, gradually became richer to the naked eye.
The gray-blue work clothes that used to dominate are no longer the norm. Instead, trendy bell-bottoms, sunglasses, and even brightly colored dresses have started to appear on the streets of Beijing.
The spring breeze of reform and opening up has been blowing for several years, and the whole of China has undergone tremendous changes. People's lives are getting better and better. The phenomenon of not being able to afford food and going hungry in the past cannot be said to have completely disappeared, but it has been generally eliminated.
In this large, three-courtyard house next to Peking University, the atmosphere is even more lively and vibrant than on the streets outside.
