Chapter 112 Ahhhhhh

Chapter 112 Ahhhhhh

People's Literature was founded on October 25, 1949, with Mao Dun as editor-in-chief and Ai Qing as deputy editor-in-chief.

The cover of the inaugural issue of that year and the first inside page after the table of contents featured a seated photo of the great man, and on the back of the photo was the handwritten inscription written by the great man specifically for the founding of People's Literature.

"I hope there will be more good works coming out."

A publication with such a background is destined to become the country's highest literary publication that coexists with the new China.

From October 25, 1949 to May 12, 1966, People's Literature published 198 issues. After its resumption, it published 63 issues until March 1981.

Today is the day when the April 1981 issue of People's Literature is published. Early in the morning, literature lovers came to major bookstores and newsstands in Yanjing City to buy it.

Zhang Jianjun, a middle school student with a fried dough stick in his mouth, paid the money and opened the magazine before he turned around and left the newsstand. Suddenly, a page of A4 paper fell from between the pages.

Zhang Jianjun picked up the paper and asked, "What is this?"

When he saw that the content on the paper was actually a questionnaire, he felt fresh. Not only was it a good idea, but it also made him feel valued as a reader.

“This is interesting!”

He stuffed the dough stick into his mouth, which was bulging, and opened the magazine impatiently.

Zhang Jianjun was walking and reading a book along the way. When he was almost at school, he was patted on the shoulder by a familiar classmate.

"What are you doing? Stop looking. The bell will ring if you don't hurry up!"

Zhang Jianjun finally came to his senses and hurried towards the school.

At lunchtime, Zhang Jianjun was reading a book while eating. A classmate who was usually close to him came over and said, "Jianjun, can you lend me the magazine you've finished reading?"

Zhang Jianjun raised his head. He was at the crucial moment when he said in a muffled voice, "Wait for me to finish reading."

"Okay." The classmate said and ran away.

Zhang Jianjun continued to immerse himself in the magazine. Until the bell rang for class, he still didn't want to put down the book.

He pretended to listen to the class and wrapped the textbook outside the "People's Literature". As long as the teacher didn't look behind him, no one could find him.

The plot of the novel continued to attract him. All his attention was focused on the magazine, and his expression changed with the joys and sorrows of the characters in the book.

Time passed slowly. The last class in the afternoon was Chinese. Zhang Jianjun was too busy to attend the class. His eyes were red, his nose was opening and closing, and his mouth was slightly pursed.

He was completely immersed in the novel at this time. When he saw Cheng Dieyi commit suicide with a sword at the end of the novel, he could no longer control his emotions.

The teacher was teaching a class at the podium when he suddenly heard a sobbing sound in the classroom.

The sound gradually grew stronger and stronger, and seemed to come from the back of the classroom. The teacher looked in the direction of the sound.

"Woo woo woo, Die Yi!"

The teacher looked around the classroom and finally found Zhang Jianjun, who was sitting in the back row and crying loudly.

Seeing Zhang Jianjun crying so sadly, she thought something had happened to him, so she walked over and asked, "Zhang Jianjun, what's wrong with you?"

"Ahhhhh, Dieyi died so tragically! Dieyi!" (Please refer to Silly Chun'er for the crying sound here)

The teacher became even more worried. Did something happen to someone at home?

She leaned over and asked anxiously, "If something happens at home, go back quickly and don't cry here."

Zhang Jianjun raised his head and looked at the teacher with tears in his eyes. He was so sad that he forgot where he was. He held the People's Literature and cried to the teacher: "Teacher Mao, Cheng Dieyi is so miserable! Ahhhhh!"

The teacher noticed the magazine in his hand and realized what was going on. He was immediately furious and glared at him, "Why are you crying over a novel? Do you think you are right to read a novel in class?"

As he spoke, he snatched the People's Literature from Zhang Jianjun's hand and said, "Look, you just read these books all day long, and I don't see your academic performance improving at all! Ask your dad to come to my place tomorrow and take it away."

When Zhang Jianjun heard this, he cried even more sadly.

All the magazines were confiscated and the parents had to be asked to pick them up. When he thought of Cheng Dieyi's tragic fate, his tears flowed like a dam bursting, and he couldn't stop them.

“Ahhhhh…”

After waiting for a long time, the bell rang for the end of get out of class. Zhang Jianjun felt depressed when he saw Teacher Mao leaving the classroom with the magazine he had just bought in the morning.

"Hey, Jianjun, what happened to you in class? Why are you crying so sadly?" His classmates surrounded him and asked.

"Were you reading a novel just now? How could you cry like that while reading a novel? You're amazing!" Someone expressed contempt.

Zhang Jianjun angrily said, "You know nothing! You will know once you read it. Farewell My Concubine is so well written."

"Farewell My Concubine? Is it a new novel?"

"This month's issue of People's Literature is great."

Zhang Jianjun spontaneously recommended the method to his classmates, and at the same time he also wanted to use it as a legitimate reason for himself to cry in class.

It’s not that I, Zhang Jianjun, am bad, it’s just that “Farewell My Concubine” is so well written that no one can resist it!

Teacher Mao returned to the teacher's office and placed the lesson plan and confiscated magazines on the table. "These students are getting worse and worse."

The colleague next to me asked, "What's going on?"

"There is a boy in our class who doesn't listen carefully in class and is reading extracurricular books. I told him to read, but he actually started crying in class. I thought something happened in his family. This little bastard!" Teacher Mao was so angry when he talked about this.

My colleague was also amused. "This student in your class is also a talent! What book is he reading?"

Teacher Mao then remembered the confiscated book. He took a look and found that it was People's Literature. He felt a little comforted, thinking that at least it was not some messy poisonous weed.

“People’s Literature.”

My colleague held up a magazine and said, "What a coincidence! I bought one this morning."

Teacher Mao asked, "Are there any particularly touching novels this issue? My student cried her heart out after reading it."

"There is one. Wow, it's really well written." The colleague said, and took the initiative to open the People's Literature and show it to Teacher Mao. "This is it, Farewell My Concubine. It's absolutely amazing!"

Teacher Mao glanced at it doubtfully. At this time, some colleagues began to pack up their things as they were about to get off work.

"I won't look at it for now." Teacher Mao said and tidied up his desk.

Colleagues in the office left one after another. Teacher Mao packed up and prepared to leave. She caught a glimpse of the "People's Literature" magazine that she had placed in a corner of her desk. She somehow put the magazine into her bag and turned to leave.

The next day.

Teacher Mao went to work with red eyes and looked a little low in spirits. During lunch time, she called Zhang Jianjun to her office.

"Take the magazine back. No more reading novels in class."

Zhang Jianjun was overjoyed when he heard this, "Thank you, Teacher Mao!"
