Chapter 14 Jiang Sui doesn't understand why Xiang Baiwei is angry

Jiang Sui spoke very seriously. Xiang Baiwei's patience finally disappeared. She turned to look at him and said, "Thank you for your kindness, but no, my father doesn't drink. Besides, drinking is bad for the body. I won't let him drink more in the future. You can go home and continue reading, or go out to play with your teacher friends. You don't have to spend your time and energy on me. I'm an adult, not a child. I don't need you to accompany me anytime and anywhere."

"Weiwei, what's wrong with you?"

Jiang Sui put away the smile on his face and stared at Xiang Baiwei with a worried look, "I don't think I did anything to make you angry today, right? Why are you suddenly unhappy? Can you give me a hint?"

"I am unhappy myself, and it has nothing to do with you. Maybe you don't know, I have been like this since I was a child, I get upset for no reason. If you stay with me, I will only vent my anger on you, so you'd better find your own friends. Don't follow me, I just want to go back to my parents' home by myself."

After saying a lot to Bai Wei, he turned around, quickened his pace, and followed the road to the fields to look for Wang Chunhua.

She remembered that Wang Chunhua had said two days ago that she would plant spring peanuts in the field today. Wang Chunhua was used to bringing her meals to the field when she was doing farm work, so she would not go home.

Jiang Sui, who was following behind and didn't want to leave, saw that she was going in the wrong direction. He looked at the villagers who were also working in the fields on the roadside and realized, "Your parents-in-law are planting spring peanuts in the fields today, right? Then I can't let you go back alone. It would be inappropriate for a new son-in-law like me not to help with the work! They say a son-in-law is half a son."

He said this with a playful smile, and Xiang Baiwei became even more annoyed after hearing this. She suppressed her anger and reminded him: "It's true that you are still a son-in-law now, but you are not a live-in son-in-law, so don't be so eager to be nice to my family. We just need to make sure your mother doesn't know the truth, and there's no need to act so realistic about the rest."

Jiang Sui hated hearing her talk about divorce, but Xiang Baiwei was obviously unhappy at the moment, so he didn't dare to rush to add fuel to the fire. He could only fight for her in a roundabout way: "Then I have to be good to you, otherwise the rumors in the surrounding area will do you no good. Besides, I have to take care of my own reputation."

Xiang Baiwei had a stern face, waiting to see how he would come up with this story.

Jiang Sui continued to lie without changing his expression: "We are still husband and wife now. If you go home to help me and I stay at home idle, others will definitely scold me if they know!"

"Ignore those gossipers outside."

Xiang Baiwei quickened her pace again, and after walking for a distance, she found that the person behind her was still following her closely, and her mentality finally collapsed.

"Why are you following me? I told you to go home."

"I've also stressed that I won't go back. Wherever you go, I'll go. If you go back to your parents' house to work, I'll go back to help you. Anyway, don't try to drive me away."

As Jiang Sui spoke, he even walked past her and went to the field where Wang Chunhua was planting spring peanuts.

Xiang Baiwei was stunned for a few seconds, and finally could only stare at his back silently and sigh.

From a distance, Wang Chunhua, who was working in the fields, noticed two familiar figures on the road: "Lao Xiang, look at those two people over there, are they your daughter and your son-in-law?"

The man sitting on the ground smoking a pipe looked back at Lao Gen, then laughed: "It's my daughter and son-in-law. They knew we were planting spring peanuts today, so they came to help?"

Wang Chunhua also thought so: "Weiwei is really a good girl! She found a perfect partner."

Wang Chunhua deliberately spoke loudly for her son-in-law Jiang Sui to hear.

Xiang Baiwei knew what her mother was planning, and secretly retorted in her heart that she only knew the surface of a person but not his heart.

While he was daydreaming, Jiang Suiren had already arrived at the field, rolled up his sleeves, picked up the hoe beside him, and began to help plant peanuts.

He was so diligent, and Xiang Baiwei, as his biological daughter, naturally didn't want to fall behind him. She took the bag of peanut seeds from Wang Chunhua and put the seeds in the small hole dug by Jiang Sui with a hoe.

Wang Chunhua smiled so hard that her teeth were not visible. She sat next to Xiang Laogen and spoke to him in a low voice: "Look at this young couple, they are such a perfect match."

Xiang Laogen puffed on his cigarette and watched silently for a while, then turned to ask Wang Chunhua: "Did the couple have a quarrel? Why does it seem like our daughter doesn't pay much attention to her son-in-law?"

"How is that possible? Our daughter has such a good temper. I've never seen her get angry with anyone."

Although Wang Chunhua said she didn't believe it, she began to observe the interaction between the two people who were planting peanuts in the distance.

After about half an hour, Wang Chunhua's face became serious: "Dad, it seems that my daughter and her son-in-law are really quarreling. I saw her son-in-law secretly looking at her several times and trying to talk to her, but my daughter ignored him."

"It's okay. Young couples always quarrel. Invite them home for dinner tonight. I'll drink with my son-in-law. While we're cooking, you can ask our daughter what's going on. Now that she's married, she can't be as willful as she was when she was a girl."

"Okay."

So, when Jiang Sui was cooking in the evening, Wang Chunhua chased him out as soon as he entered the kitchen: "Go find Lao Xiang and talk to him for a while."

Xiang Baiwei was just wishing to stay away from him, and she breathed a sigh of relief as soon as Jiang Sui left the kitchen.

Wang Chunhua did not miss this scene. She walked over and asked Xiang Baiwei tentatively, "What's going on between you and Xiao Jiang? I saw you always talking about him before, but now that you have him, you ignore him."

Jiang Sui was outside the kitchen and did not go into the main room. He walked lightly and eavesdropped on the conversation between the mother and daughter in the kitchen.

He also wanted to know why, because before they got married, Xiang Baiwei's eyes were full of him.

But after getting married, no, everything changed immediately on the wedding night.

He thought about it for several days, but still couldn't figure out what he had done wrong or what went wrong to make Xiang Baiwei so disgusted with him.

Xiang Baiwei in the kitchen did not speak for a long time. Wang Chunhua kept urging her, and she finally replied impatiently: "His face is too good-looking. He attracts bees and butterflies, but he is not reliable. He is a disaster. I regret it. I should have found someone with an ordinary appearance."

"What? I really don't understand what's going on in your head!"

Wang Chunhua was so angry that she pointed her finger at Xiang Baiwei's forehead, "What are you doing?"
