Chapter 4 Mental Disorder

Fang Yan stretched out her leg, her toes pressing against Zhang Jizhou's chest to block him. "You can watch. If you're sure I want to harm the child, then you can do it. Now, you stand here and don't move!"

Zhang Jizhou's aura was too strong, and she was indeed a little intimidated by him.

However, to choose between saving the child and being afraid of him, Fang Yan could only secretly bolster her courage and confront him bravely and forcefully.

Perhaps it was her words that persuaded Zhang Jizhou;

Or perhaps Zhang Jizhou was confident that if Fang Yanyan dared to make a move under his nose, he could definitely take care of her in a second;

Or perhaps Fang Yanyan's unprecedented assertive attitude stunned Zhang Jizhou, leaving him speechless.

In short, while he was standing still, Fang Yan unscrewed the bottle. There was no spoon here, and she was afraid that feeding the child directly with the bottle would cause him to choke.

She poured some spring water into the bottle cap, fed it to the child's mouth, and gently coaxed him, "Baby, Mommy made you some sweet syrup. Try drinking some and see."

The child was unable to open his mouth, and the spring water simply wouldn't go in.

"Come here and help me pry the child's mouth open a little bit."

There was no other way; I was holding the child in my left arm and the bottle cap of spring water in my right, so I had no free hands.

Fang Yan turned to Zhang Jizhou, who was standing to the side, and asked him for help.

"What are you feeding the child?" Zhang Jizhou remembered clearly that she hadn't brought anything with her when she left home.

Fang Yan was so eager to save lives that she didn't have time to waste, so she simply put down the bottle cap and picked up the bottle.

From a hygiene standpoint, she didn't touch the bottle spout; she simply tilted her head back, poured a mouthful into her mouth, swallowed, and then looked at the man. "Now can you help me pry the child's mouth open a little?"

Zhang Jizhou looked at her intently for a few moments, as if trying to confirm whether she was still the same person he knew.

"Hurry up!" Fang Yan couldn't help but urge him.

She was so anxious she was almost going crazy, while he just kept wasting his time here.

Although Fang Yan could understand Zhang Jizhou's intentions, she still couldn't help but want to get angry.

Zhang Jizhou looked at her intently once more, suppressing his doubts, and, at Fang Yan's request, pried open the child's mouth.

"Be gentle!" Seeing his strong, large hands, which seemed capable of crushing the child with a single blow, Fang Yan couldn't help but remind him.

Zhang Jizhou glanced at her again before gently prying open the child's mouth.

Fang Yan carefully poured a small portion of the water from the bottle cap into the baby's mouth and gently coaxed the child again, "Baby, try eating a little bit and see if Mommy is lying to you."

The child's full name is Zhang Haoxuan, which was given to him by Zhang Jizhou.

His nickname is Gou Dan (Dog Egg), given to him by his grandparents, who said that a humble name would make him easier to raise.

The original owner didn't like this nickname, but dared not object, so she could only call the child "Baby" in private.

At first, the child didn't react. For a while, Fang Yan couldn't even feel his breathing, which terrified her so much that she almost cried.

But she was afraid of scaring the child, so she could only hold back and continue to coax him patiently, "Baby, is the sugar water sweet? Do you not want to eat it because you think the sugar water isn't sweet enough? Then Mommy will finish all the sugar water."

Fang Yan wanted to comfort the child, but she had never been in a relationship, let alone married and had children. Having never given birth, she had zero experience in comforting children and could only improvise, relying mainly on gentle coaxing.

Zhang Jizhou looked deeply at Fang Yanyan, gently coaxing the child as if she were his precious darling. Her words just now echoed in his mind: "Even tigers don't eat their cubs. I beat the child like this, and you didn't even ask why, you just condemned me!"

Could it be that she had no other choice but to abuse the children?

Perhaps hearing that her mother was going to finish the sugar water, the child became anxious. In her anxiety, her throat slid up and down slightly, and the spring water in her mouth was swallowed.

The spring water is clear and sweet, much better than sugar water.

The child clearly felt the same way, and even moved his lips as if savoring the memory.

"Quick, give him another sip." Fang Yan's eyes lit up as she urged Zhang Jizhou to quickly feed the child seven or eight more bottle caps of spring water.

She didn't dare to feed the child too much at once, fearing that he wouldn't be able to handle drinking so much at once.

Fang Yan couldn't bear to put the child back on the hospital bed, so she held him and felt the changes in his body little by little.

She sat there holding her child, while Zhang Jizhou stood quietly by the hospital bed, watching the mother and child.

The emergency room was quiet; no one spoke.

About two hours later, Fang Yan touched the child and then put her ear to the child's heart.

"Bang bang bang..." Although faint, she could at least hear her heart beating.

Fearing she might be hallucinating, she looked up at Zhang Jizhou again, "Listen quickly, is the baby's heartbeat returning?"

Zhang Jizhou first reached out to check the child's pulse on his neck, and his eyes immediately lit up. Then he leaned down and could indeed hear the child's heartbeat.

He couldn't help but ask Fang Yanyan, "What did you feed the child just now?"

"It's not like it's harming the children."

The source of the spring water was hard to explain, and Fang Yan was too lazy to talk to this man who was unfit to be a husband, so she retorted irritably.

Although she could understand that Zhang Jizhou couldn't take care of his family due to the nature of his work, as a husband, he showed too little concern for his wife. He didn't even know that his wife and son were being bullied to death by their family members.

Even if a man like this is handsome and masculine, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his looks and physique alone are far superior to those of many male celebrities in later generations.

But what's the point of having it?

If she weren't penniless and without any receipts, and not in a position to fight for custody of the child, Fang Yan would have kicked him out the door in a heartbeat.

In this world, there are three-legged men everywhere.

If she gives up this one, she'll find something better.

Sensing her anger, Zhang Jizhou glanced at her somewhat bewildered, paused for two seconds, and decided that a wise man doesn't fight a losing battle. He didn't say anything more and turned to find the doctor.

“I understand how you feel, but the child has just…” The doctor pushed open the door and came in, still trying to comfort and persuade Zhang Jizhou.

The parent actually went to him and told him that the child's heartbeat was normal.

How is that possible?!

The child was clearly beyond saving just now, how could his heartbeat possibly return?

"Doctor, my son really came back to life!" Fang Yan said happily as she got off the hospital bed, holding her child.

The doctor sighed and rubbed his forehead: ...

Another parent has arrived, unable to cope with the loss of their child and suffering a mental breakdown.
